They emerged from the catacombs to find a troop of soldiers preparing to storm the Chapel of the Tablet. The priest explained everything in Tigrinya. The troops saluted them and a couple of officers, after quickly bandaging his arm, went back downstairs with the priest.
Remi and Daniel, exhausted, staggered out into the sunlight.
At the gate to the church complex they saw Captain Kebede still sitting in the Jeep. He had revived a little, and someone had wrapped up his leg with some proper bandages rather than the earlier hasty field dressing.
