So weak
Even with my aching knee, I began running to immediately find shade when it started raining. I immediately shivered when the cold wind blew. I was able to find a tree big enough to use for shade, but the rain was pouring so hard that I was still getting wet despite the tree.
“I’ll wait here for a couple of minutes until the rain stops,” I told myself as I hugged myself to the ground. The rain poured harder, and I can almost hear the wind because of how strong it’s blowing. The trees in front of me were swaying and I felt scared, so I closed my eyes. Thank God Trevor’s shirt was so big that I was able to cover my legs with it. But it wasn’t enough as the cold wind blew stronger.
“Ah!” and the thunder is so frightening! Oh my god! What bad timing! For the last month, the rain on this island has been short and not really that heavy and now that Trevor decided to disappear and I decided to go after him, has it rained this hard? Ugh!
“Stop! Please!” I continued shivering as the lightning and thunder continued to frighten me. My eyes are closed, and my ears are covered, but I still hear the rain and the thunder. “Trevor!” I don’t know why I began crying. I was just too scared, and I want to be in the mansion right now. It’s the safest place for me. Only if Trevor is there!
“Trevor! Save me!” I cried more as the thunder continued to frighten the hell out of me. I thought I would pass out first before the thunder stopped, but thank God it stopped after a couple of minutes. When I wasn’t hearing anything anymore but the rain, I was willing to open my eyes. And I couldn’t have been frightened more when I noticed how dark the place was already. f**k!
“Trevor!” I screamed in horror, walking in the rain trying to find my way home! But of course, it was so dark that I failed to see the large tree roots and I stumbled again. But I don’t care anymore. I just wanted to find Trevor and go home.
I don’t care about the bruises, and I certainly don’t care even if I lose my voice with this crying. I’m scared and I don’t want to die! Not here! Not ever!
I willed myself to get up and just before I could run again, someone grabbed my arm.
“Ah!” I was startled because the first thought that came to me was that my kidnappers had finally found me, but when the stranger hugged me to his chest, I felt his familiar scent.
“I’m here,” his husky voice made me tear up again as I felt so relieved that he was fine.
“Trevor?” I asked with the shakiest voice, and I cried more when I felt him nod. “I-I it really you?” I was shaking not just because of fear but the cold wind as well.
“It’s me Camille.”
The moment I heard him say that, I gave up to the loud banging of my heart and all went blank.
I woke up feeling like my head was going to explode any second. “Trevor?” I looked for him in the room, but he wasn’t around. I was shivering, which is odd because I felt hot. Oh god, these are signs that I’m sick, right? ugh! What a time to be sick!
“Trevor…” I tried to get out of bed but the moment my feet touched the cold floor, I immediately went back to bed. My throat is sore, and my eyes hurt. Actually, everything hurts! Even my body, my legs, my knees and even my stomach hurt! Ugh!
I immediately looked up, which made my headache worse, when I heard the door open.
“Trevor…”
“Don’t get up.”
Maybe he was holding a bowl of soup. He put the cowl on top of the table and walked towards me. I immediately closed my eyes as he touched my forehead with his palm.
“You’re burning.” I looked him in the eye and if I had been delirious enough, I might have seen him worried.
“I figured.”
“What hurts?”
“Everything,” I answered with a weak voice that I even had a hard time hearing myself. Am I dying? Oh god I survived in the forest just to die with a fever? So terrible!
“Are you okay?” I asked him as well. I was really worried when I was looking for him. I mean, I know that he’s stronger than me and all that, but that didn’t help thinking about all the wild animals in the forest. And you go into that dangerous forest? Well, yes…. but I was really worried, and my adrenaline won over me!
“Of course, I’m okay.”
Am I only hearing it, or does he sound pissed? Why? Did I do something wrong again? Will he leave me again?
“Are you mad at me?” I asked more as I was trying hard to open my heavy eyes.
“You should eat.”
Instead of answering me, I felt him getting off the bed. He took the bowl of soup and walked towards me again. He put the bowl on the chair as he helped me get up. I even felt pain when he gripped my arm to help me. Agh! I feel so weak, and I hate it. And I hate that I’m too weak to even think about it!
He made me lean on the bed’s backrest as he blew on the soup. He aimed the whole bowl at me because we didn’t even have a f*****g spoon. I tried to sip but it was f*****g hot.
“It’s hot.”
“Sorry,” he exclaimed as he blew on it again.
I made several tries at finishing up the soup he made but all I wanted to do at that moment was to lay down and sleep.
“I don’t want anymore,” I exclaimed, pushing the bowl towards him.
“You haven’t even eaten half of its Camille.”
“But I’m full already,” I exclaimed, averting my face as he tried to make me eat again.
“How can you be full of soup?”
“But I am.”
I heard him sigh deeply as he finally stood up. I guess he won't force me to eat anymore. I mean if it was a normal day, I would’ve eaten the food already, but I’m too weak to even open my mouth right now.
“Don’t sleep yet. Wait for me here,” he exclaimed, but I couldn’t even open my eyes long enough to see him out the door.
I thought I would be able to sleep as soon as he went out, but my headache keeps me awake and why is it so cold? I’m already covered with a blanket, but I feel like I’m inside a refrigerator! I keep on turning and turning hoping to find the best position for me to sleep, but everything I do; something aches in my body!
I didn’t notice how long I'd been trying to sleep when I heard Trevor opening the door once again.
He was holding a bowl of water and he made me lean on the backrest again.
“Take this,” he ordered as he gave me a pill.
“Medicine?” I exclaimed, looking at the baby blue oblong-shaped pill.
“Yes, it’s for a headache.”
“How can you have medicine here?” instead of taking the pill, my curiosity got to me first. I mean, how?
“I-I had it here before you came,” he answered as he averted his gaze. Oh, okay. Maybe the demon who banished him at least has an ounce of good in him, huh?
I took the pill and then drank the water in the bowl before lying down again. He was about to get out of the room again when I called him.
“Where are you going?”
“I’ll put the bowl in the shed,” he answered.
“Don’t leave me,” I don’t know what’s happening, but I remember the thought of him leaving me a while ago. I don’t want that to happen again. Never.
“I’m not leaving you,” he answered as I saw him put the bowl on top of the table as he walked towards me.
“Really?” I asked as he put his hand on my cheek. I immediately held his hand because it was so warm and I was literally shivering.
“Yeah.”
