Trinity.
I slumped to the floor in excruciating pain.
“It must have been in the heat of the passion. I tried to warn you from consuming too much alcohol last night, but you hushed me.” Kitana broke her silence, acknowledging me.
I sat there on the floor, too dazed to speak or even move. I felt so ashamed and terrified to look at my image in the mirror again. How in f***s sake was I going to hide this? How did I let this happen?
“We can’t hide this, Trinity,” Kitana spoke again.
“Why the hell would he do this to us?” I snapped, fuming in anger.
That Bastard from last night had claimed me, without my f*****g consent.
“I do not know, but we need to think of a way out as fast as possible. In a few moons, you would be handed to Alpha Warren. We both know he would reject us the moment he sees this, and your Father will be livid! I need not say more about your brothers, the Goddess forbids, hell could let loose Trinity.” Kitana read the handwriting visibly written on the wall.
My father would undoubtedly skin me alive were he to find out about this.
“s**t! Kitana,” I cried out in despair.
“What if we bandage it up and call it a deep injury?” I asked her.
“Oh my Goddess! Is that all you can come up with?” Kitana asked back. “That would be a pretty weird spot to have a deep cut or injury, that would give us out in no time,” she added.
“But we could still give it a trial, right? Surely the Alpha would understand?” I said, and Kitana went silent. I could feel the uneasiness in her silence, and I had to nudge my gracious wolf.
“Kitana, what do you think?” I asked her further.
“Even if we go ahead with your plan, the strange wolf has claimed and marked us, we have his scent now, and no one would miss it. It’s only a matter of time until everyone decodes his scent,” she said.
At the sound of her words, I felt cheated, ravaged, and used like I had been stripped of the last ounce of dignity I had left. That Bastard had ruined my life. With my hands clasped tightly in despair, I staggered towards my bed.
“Oh my Goddess,” I slumped onto my bed. Staring hard at the ceiling, I swallowed hard.
“Kitana, there's got to be a way,” I moaned.
“Maybe you could ask Enisa,” Kitana chipped in.
"Yes, yes. You're right, Kitana," I said, getting out of bed. I rifled through my dumped jeans, snatching out my phone hastily.
“Pick up the damn phone, Enisa,” I said, pacing around the room. After a string of unanswered calls, I sent a follow-up message, asking her to come over ASAP.
I sank to the floor, wrapping my hands around my knees, and I moaned my ugly fate. I did not have any relationship with Warren, if he had the slightest idea of this, he would reject me in a heartbeat.
It was a breeding match and not a love match. If he wanted me badly, he would have to challenge this unknown man to fight to the death to have me. I damn well knew I wasn’t worth the trouble, but what if he surprises me by wanting me that badly? If he should ask for the man’s identity or pack, what would I do?
We didn’t even get to exchange names. I did not know the man, nor his pack. It was a freaking one-night stand, and I wanted to keep it as such.
Almost everyone engages in similar fantasies, but why did mine put me up a creek with no paddle?
I guess the moment wasn’t so memorable for the bastard to at least get my name or my phone number, worse still, I had left the motel before he could wake up.
I was so doomed. I wept bitterly, thinking of everything I could have done differently to avert this.
“This isn't the end of the world, Trinity,” Kitana broke the heavy silence.
“Not now, Kitana,” I snapped at my wolf, and she retreated to the back.
I stood up and reached for my wardrobe. I brought out a turtleneck sweatshirt and jeans, and I hurriedly put them on, in a bid to mask the bastard’s scent on me. I doused myself with a lot of perfume. I paced across the room frantically when I heard a knock on the front door. “Who’s there?” I muttered.
“It’s me,” I heard Enisa call out.
“Enisa.. Is that you?” I stuttered nervously.
“Girl, would you get the damn door already!” She snapped.
Hastily, I made for the door and opened it.
“Thank the Goddess you're here, I've been calling,” I whispered, grabbing her hand and pulling her into the house.
“Whoa, slow down,” she said with a laugh, stumbling slightly, as I pulled her inside. “What’s going on, Trinity? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
“I am so f****d, Enisa,” I said, slumping onto the bed.
“Of course you are,” Enisa laughed. “That man was a hottie.”
“No, I mean I’m in a big mess for real,” I said.
“What’s wrong, Trinity?” Enisa asked, joining me on the bed. “You know you can always confide in me,” she added, holding my hands.
I stared at Enisa hesitantly; she had been my best friend since childhood. It was only logical for me to share this situation with her. Still, a part of me didn’t want to.
“Go on, I’m listening,” she whispered calmly.”
I moved my hands towards the turtle neck collar of my sweatshirt and tugged at it to expose the mark.
“For f**k’s sake, Trinity,” Enisa’s eyes widened.
“How on earth did you let this happen?” She asked.
“I have not the slightest idea how,” I answered.
“This is bad, oh, this is really bad,” Enisa moaned.
“The craziest part is that I found out immediately I got home,” I said. “That bastard has f*****g ruined my life.” I broke into tears.
Enisa sniffed the air. “Is that the reason for the heavy perfume?” She asked and I nodded, “Oh, Trinity, your joining is supposed to be in a few weeks girl,” she moaned.
“I know that Enisa,” I sobbed.
“Did you go back to the motel to find him?” Enisa asked.
“Gosh, why didn't I think of that?” I whimpered, pausing my tears. “No.. No I didn't go back, I've been too dense to come up with something.”
“Oh, Trinity!” Enisa snapped.” We should get going immediately,” she added.
“What if he checked out already?” I asked.
“Then, we would get his phone number or any info we might be able to gather,” Enisa said.
We stood up and walked out of the house in a rush. Calling Enisa was indeed a relief. She had a way of making me feel at ease.
We just had to get through to that freak, make him do the needful, and all of this just goes away like a bad dream, I assured myself, as we both slipped into Enisa’s car.
