CHAPTER4

Trinity “What the hell are you saying, Enisa?” I snapped. “I can't do that, we both know Warren will reject me, and my family will kill me,” I added. “You have no choice. The mark and scent are there. It would be worse if they found out on the day of joining. And to crown it all, the virgin thing, it's gonna count against you, girl. You need to flip the script,” she said. And the idea hit me. “What if I tell them we went out for a drink, and I got drunk, and I rushed outside to throw up when this random dude came up to me, he took advantage of me and claimed me without my consent, and he left before I could scream for help,” I said, and she shook her head. “They aren't dumb. Why on earth would this random guy pick you out of the many ladies present, and he goes as far as claiming you, too? Sounds like a dumb lie already,” she said. “I can say he isn't a random dude then, his name is Jamie, I did not bother to get his name because I wasn't interested in his advances. He had been stalking me for a while, and I kept turning him down. Claiming and taking advantage of me was his way of getting back at me,” I said. “What do you think?” I asked Enisa with a faint smile. “They might buy it,” she said, “But what about where your brother called me and I said you were sleeping because of a headache?” she asked, and my smile faded in a flash. I understood her fear. If my brother found out she lied to him, he would unleash his wrath on her. Warren could also deal with her for sabotaging me. “I could say I had a scarf and a jacket on because it was chilly, and you did not see the mark. By the time we got to your house, I had a splitting headache and fell asleep.” I said, and she twisted her lips and gradually gave a nod. “Yeah, that sounds believable, but what if your family attempts to search for him, and eventually they do succeed in finding him?” She asked, and I bit my lower lip hard in frustration. “Then it would be my word against his, and I'm damn sure my family would believe me over him,” I said. “Warren and Aiden could kill him. He is huge, and he did seem like an Alpha to me, but he doesn't belong to our pack or the Iron Fangs pack, which is the strongest pack in the world. That guy doesn't stand a chance against Warren, who's the second strongest Alpha. Would it make you feel any better if they killed him? She asked. “I don't give a damn about that freak, his life practically means nothing to me,” I said. “You're only saying this because you're pissed. You seemed like you really liked him. Hell, you were practically all over him the entire night. Honestly, he didn't want to f**k you, but you persisted. It would be very unfair for him to lose his life over this,” she said. “Are you saying this is all my fault?” I scowled at her. Enisa shook her head, “ No, I'm not saying that. But honestly, if you hadn't persisted, you two wouldn't have ended up at the motel. I understand the whole joining thing got to you, and you needed some freedom, now look where it has landed you,” she said. I bowed my head in shame at Enisa’s words. She was damn right, I was drunk and persistent. Jamie did try to stop me from gulping down more glasses, but instead, I kept at it and made him join in. I guessed he was probably too weak and drunk to control his wolf, but still, this was wrong, either way, he had no justification whatsoever for what he did to me. “And we have to think of something to lie about the extra day you spent here with me, just in case we are asked,” Enisa said, “we would also have to explain why we didn't report the incident immediately,” she added. “Simple,” I clicked my finger, “I was scared of telling them. You were afraid for your life. We went in search of the bastard to challenge him to death,” I added. Enisa stared at me blankly, and my stomach churned. “Hmmm, that could work, but honestly, I wish we had found him, I wouldn't want anyone to die, though,” she said. I let out a sigh. The fact is, he was either going to die or chicken out of the challenge if Wareen found me worthy enough to challenge him. But if Jamie declared he wanted me? There was no way I would be with him. He claimed me when I was drunk. Nothing was ever going to erase my hate for him. I got home in the early hours of the evening, just in time for dinner. I got ready and wore a sequinned turtle neck dress. I packed my hair in a bun and doused myself with my most expensive perfume to covet the scent. I made sure I looked my best in the tight-fitted dress, so good that no one would ask why it had a turtle neck. I was so nervous that I could hear my heart thudding rapidly. I got downstairs and met my brother, Gamma Aiden, having a friendly banter with Warren. Warren looked exceptionally handsome in his tailored black suit. They fitted his masculine body nicely, his dark eyes spoke volumes, and I wondered why I did not feel anything whatsoever for this guy. I guess the breeding part was what put me off. Knowing that you were going to be joined, just because you had the capacity to breed strong pups wasn't impressive. “Good evening, Alpha Warren," I greeted him, and he cut me off sweetly. “Come on, Trinity, I have told you countless times to stop with the titles, please call me Wareen, my beautiful Luna,” he said softly, with a warm smile. My stomach churned at his words, and I wondered if he would still address me as his Luna if he found out I had been claimed by another. “Good evening, Warren,” I managed to say. He smiled at me, pulling out a seat for me. He did seem like a gentleman,I had to give him that. “Whoa, Trinity, what's with the heavy perfume? Damn, you're hurting our noses,” Aiden wiggled his nose. “I’m sorry, guys,” I giggled nervously. “I got this new perfume and I unintentionally doused more than usual.”
