The Alpha's Captive Princess

CHAPTER 1 AUDREY POV What I am about to tell you is my story. My story of how I was a Luna stripped of my position all because my mate never loved me. It is a painful ordeal when you are mated to someone who wished you were never born. And it all started on the night of my mating ceremony. Looking back on it, now It was supposed to be the happiest day of my life, but instead all I got was a cold and aloof response from my new mate and Alpha of our pack. That night, all I heard was rumors of how Alpha Shane was busy spending the night with a popular actress called Shirley. But of course I didn't believe it. He told me that he was going for a meeting and I didn't want to call him. I was going to wait for him in our bedroom. I was going to be meek and submissive to him and only him after all. There was a reasonable explanation but once I set my eyes on him, I knew the truth. Afterwards it was the morning after our mating process that declared us as one and truly, it wasn't the sparks and thrills, my friends all told me it would be. It felt as if he was being forced, and he wanted to be done with it as soon as possible. I had expected that he would at least cuddle me afterwards but what greeted me was his cold snores. And as quickly, the bed was cold as if it was only me on it, battling the snow outside. I stretched my body, and sat upright to see that I was indeed alone in the bed. He must have gone out already, I ignored the pain in my heart as I quickly sat up and arranged the bed. I brushed up and got dressed before heading downstairs to meet the rest of the Alpha's family. "Good morning Audrey. How was it? Shirley, my best friend said as she walked up to me from behind. I didn't know that she was even around. I had thought of picking her up as I headed to the training arena. "How was what?" I feigned ignorance because we were in public and I knew almost everyone was paying attention to us. I wished I could punch her but instead i just smiled at her and pretended to be busy with something else. "You know what I mean, the s*x between you and....." "Have all the new trainees assembled in the arena." I cut her off as she paused and nodded her head. "Good, I will be there, if you need my help, come find me." I said as I walked out. I could feel the stares of everyone on me, they bowed as they were supposed to but deep down, I had a feeling that they did it to the fact that I was their Luna. Although I had resigned from the position of the Pack warrior to concentrate on being a full Luna. I guess it wouldn’t hurt just to head over there and see what is happening. Besides the trainees there were all teenagers and I felt a special bond with each and every one of them. “Good morning Luna.” Came their sharp responses as they all went on their knees as soon as they saw me leaning on the wall. “You can continue with what you were doing. I just came to check up on you guys. It has been a while since I stopped here. I know everyone is working under your new warrior.” She said as the kids all gathered around her trying to talk louder than the other to get her attention. “We want you to come back! We miss you Luna.” The smaller kids said as the teenagers just smiled wistfully and kicked the grass with their boots. Granted they all thought the same thing even though it was only the little kids that voiced it out. “I can only come and pay a visit but I can’t train again. I have resigned and it won’t be fair to your current trainer if I just take over her job out of the blue. How about this? Later we can train in the woods and I will rate your performance myself okay. Just between us?” I said with a wink as everyone nodded their head and smiled. Somehow I always knew how to pacify each kid, so it wasn’t a wonder why they loved me. “Luna, my mum is pregnant, I would like it if you could come and pray for her. I really want you to meet her.” One of the kids said as a sharp pain tore through my heart. Just like that, my smile was gone….not because I had no kids of my own or I was infertile but because of the message I had seen mistakenly on my mate’s phone. Shirley was telling him that she was pregnant again….again? So he had kids already outside their marriage. This was why he never accepted me fully. But I pretended to not have seen it, maybe just maybe, it was a wrong number. “Luna?” The kids said tugging at me when they didn’t hear my reply afterwards. “Guys, I have to go now. Luna duties awaits.” I said as I hugged all of them in one tight hug and waved at the older kids before leaving. I had no where I was going because basically I wasn’t needed anywhere so I decided to head back to the pack house. I just hoped that Shirley had gone out. I didn’t want to meet her when I came home. Soon afterwards I got home and to my relief, Shirley was nowhere to be found and her scent was faint which meant she had gone out for quite a while. Happily I wanted to head to my room when I heard noises coming out of an adjacent room. Worried about what was happening, I walked closer and peeked. To my surprise it was my father in law and my mate going at each other. I had never seen my mate Shane get this angry. It was frightening. And what was more frightening was the topic of the fight. They were talking about siring heirs for the pack. “I told you, Audrey is your mate. You two have been married for three years yet there is no pregnancy forthcoming. Why aren’t you doing your job to get a heir. Do you want the pack to die out with you?” Her father in law said as Shane gripped the handle of the chair roughly and said, “I already told you this. I have kids of my own already. And you forced me to marry Audrey. I never wanted her as a mate, and if you think that I care if she gets pregnant by me or anyone. Then have a rethink. Audrey may be the official Luna of the pack but she should know her place. “I will never acknowledge those bastard heirs you sired behind her back…. I stopped listening as I gasped walking backwards and unknowingly bumping into a vase and it fell, distracting father and son. Before I could even flee, Shane had burst out of the room, looking like an angry bull that was set on a rampage. His dark monster like eyes laid on her as his nostril flared with each new breath. “Were you listening in on us? Is this part of your grand master plan to get me to give you children. You aren’t content with forcing your way on my bed and making me mark you? You are a disgrace to Lunas out there.” He said as I tried to remain calm. “No, I didn’t. I didn’t know….Shane can I ask you a question?” I said instead, gaining the courage as Shane grabbed me roughly by my hand. Instead of me to be exhilarated by the sparks that was supposed to make my heart race, I felt disgusted and wanted to puke but I had control. “Did you ever loved me at one point?” I said but what came out of his mouth was a mirthless laugh as he replied, “Let me put this as plainly as possible. If only I was in your Pack- the day you were born, I would hav e bashed your brains in so that you never saw the next day.”
