CHAPTER 4: Neighbor

*Yura’s POV*
Kriingggg….
For the 3rd times, I’m still mumbling inside my blanket.
C’mon this is Saturday; I don’t have to wake up early like usual.
With a heavy body, I finally manage to wake up, make my bed, take a shower, wash my face, brush my teeth, and now I’m going to take out the trash.
There is a pick-up car downstairs, I look at it and check, I think someone’s moving in today.
After I take out the trash, I walk back to my unit, and surprisingly, the one who’s moving in is my neighbor.
While I’m reaching my door, someone’s calling me.
“Eh? Yura? You’re Yura right?” a soft man’s voice calling my name.
I look back to see who he is.
“EH? Hongsik?” I gasped. It’s Hongsik!
“You’re my neighbor? Is this your unit?” he asked.
“Y... Yeah. Good morning Hongsik. I am sorry I didn’t know you’re moving in today” I replied.
“Hahaha… Only my friends know about it, no one else knows. It’s okay. Are you living alone?” he asked.
“Yeah, my family is out of town, I’m all alone”. I replied awkwardly.
So, what they meant yesterday, the neighbor-thing is Hongsik and me??? I’m screwed.
Hongsik look around and said, “Could you wait for a moment, I have a rice cake for you”
He came back with a plate of rice cake,
“This is for you” said Hongsik with his killer smile.
“Um... Thanks.” I replied.
“Hmm, I’m sorry Yura, may I come in?” asked Hongsik awkwardly.
WHAT?
“I am sorry, because the worker is still arranging my room, so I have nowhere to sit, and I think it’s necessary to have a good relationship with my neighbor? Hehe” he said.
“Well that make sense. O… Okay you can come in”. Aaanndd, I let him in.
This is my first time having a man in my room. This is so embarrassing. I can’t look him in the eye.
“Wow, your room is actually pretty neat. Do you like white? Almost all your items are white. This is nice”. Hongsik carefully takes a tour in my house.
“Ah, yes I do like white. But this is mostly because I want it to look neat, so I choose mostly white color for my stuff” I replied while preparing a tea for him.
He smiled, “That’s nice”.
I bring the tea to the dining table, and we sit together.
“So, why are you moving here? I thought you live with your parents?” I asked curiously.
“Yeah actually there is no special reason. My parents just thought I should live by myself, and learn how to live independently before college. So, here I am. Nothing really special though” He replied.
“I thought you are already independent? Being the head of student council and stuff? Phew… That’s a big responsibility” I said.
“Hahaha… Well thank you, but seriously you praise too much. I got a lot of help from your friend, Kaya and the other committee too. I can’t do all that alone” He replied, again with his soft smile.
Wow, I gotta admit, he is very humble. I can’t believe he is Dohyun’s friend.
“About yesterday, I would like to apologize once again for Dohyun’s behavior towards you. I heard the story, I also disagree with how he acted. I hope you won’t hate him that much” he said.
“Well I don’t think you should apologize; it wasn’t your fault. It’s his. But, I bet he won’t apologize so you are doing it instead.” I said.
“Well, he lacks a mother’s touch, his mom left him when he was 5. She left him with his dad who works everyday nonstop, he barely meets his dad. So this past 13 years, he doesn’t have anybody, only us, the boys. He doesn’t know how to handle woman” He added.
“Pfft, funny how a popular guy doesn’t know how to handle woman. I’m sorry Hongsik, I can’t agree on that, I don’t believe it” I replied.
“It’s okay, you don’t have to. That’s why I am here, apologizing to you. Because I don’t think he would. Thank you for accepting my apologies anyway” Hongsik smiled to me. He is so polite, so humble, gentle, he has a happy family. It’s like he has all the good things, and Dohyun gets all the bad things.
“I can’t believe you are his friend. You are his opposite, your personality, your family. Why is that?” I asked.
“I met him when I was 5, same as him. His mother just left him, he cried alone at the park. Simple, I asked him to play with me, and we became friends. He told his story, and I think I can be his friend, I want to. So I asked him to play in my house, we get along so well. I consider him as my brother. No matter what we did wrong, we always have each other’s back”. He told me his story. His eyes are so soft, I bet he really do care about Dohyun. He really is a good friend, and it means Dohyun is his good friend too.
“Anyway, it’s almost lunchtime, do you want to go and find some food?” He asked.
“Hmm actually I have an appointment this afternoon, I am going to apply for a part time job” I replied.
“Really? Wow… Okay so I better check my unit now. You can get ready, don’t be late. First impression matters” he said.
“Oh… Yeah okay. Let me know if you need help, I’m just a door away. Thank you anyway, for the rice cake” I smile to him, while he’s walking towards the door.
“I thank you for letting me in, and for the tea. Good luck. See you soon?” He smiled.
“Yeah thank you. See you Hongsik” I replied him with a smile.
I can’t help but smiling. He is the gentlest, and the humblest man I’ve ever met. Plus, he is so handsome too. Oh God, are you testing me?

*Hongsik’ POV*
Yura… Yura… Her name is beautiful. She is friendly too. I can’t believe she has that courage to slap Dohyun in the face hahaha. I think I wanna know her more. Should I asked her to go dinner with me tonight? Am I rushing things?
Well I have an appointment with the boys at 6, I better tidy up the room and get ready soon.
