Chapter 5

417 Words
Flavia had just left when the doctor arrived. After checking my condition, he reminded me, "Mr. Sinclair, you just had surgery to remove something, so you need to be careful. If you need anything, just call the nurse." I stared at him in disbelief as if a thunderbolt had struck my mind. I felt utterly helpless, grabbing his arm with red eyes and demanding, "What surgery are you talking about?" He looked surprised and blurted, "Didn't Miss Sinclair tell you?" She was too busy defending James to care about me. Panic surged through me as I hurriedly threw off the blanket and anxiously felt around. As I expected, there was nothing but emptiness between my legs. At that moment, I felt like I lost everything. I let out a self-deprecating laugh that grew louder and more desolate. Gradually, tears streamed down my face, soaking the sheets, and I finally couldn't hold back my sobs in front of the doctor. Despite having endured many difficult moments, I couldn't accept this harsh reality. I became a eunuch. This was an immense humiliation. I could no longer call myself a real man. My agitation peaked, and I grasped the doctor's collar, shaking him as I pressed, "What right does your hospital have to perform surgery without my consent?" He tried to calm me down, awkwardly saying, "Mr. Sinclair, your injuries were severe, and we discovered them too late. The only way to save your life was to remove it, so..." He hesitated before adding, "And your wife signed the consent for the surgery." My hand slowly dropped, and my face turned pale as if all life had been drained from me. He opened his mouth but couldn't find the words, finally offering a dry consolation, "Please don't be too upset." I laughed self-deprecatingly again. I remembered that Victoria was at the root of all this, along with James's smug smile when he left. 'Why are they so happy while ruining my future?' I refused to accept this. I wanted revenge. Fueled by hatred, I tried to get out of bed but forgot that the medication hadn't worn off yet. With a loud crash, I fell and lost consciousness, unable to get back up. In my unconscious state, I seemed to see myself being bullied in the orphanage. I recalled the moments of Flavia relying on me after our parents died, and the brief happiness I felt after marrying Victoria. But ever since James appeared, all of that had completely vanished.
