Chapter 37

His simple gesture made my heart melt again. He supports me even though we're not that close enough to each other.  A genuine smile crept on my lips. “I'll surely paint later.” I promised myself. “After you study.” Seikatu made me roll my eyes. “After I study.” I grinned. “Let's walk faster, I'm excited!”  My excitement was more cheerful than before minutes ago as I saw the entrance of a park.  “Heck! It's Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden!” I giggled, surveying our surroundings as we entered. “Seikatu, this is awesome!” I can't look at him because the place is just so beautiful! “I can see that by the look on your face.” he said, making me look at him, meeting his ocean blue eyes. “It's beautiful,” he said softly. I flushed with a smile. “It is.” Then I surveyed again. “This place is good for anything. It's so relaxing.” “Let's go there.” he signaled and I giggled once again by the place, making him smile. Seikatu smiles more often now. I shrugged it off and drool over the park. As I was busy admiring the view, Seikatu's right hand traveled through the small of my back making my skin tingle. He pushes it very carefully in the direction we're going, to guide me, I guess. This place is so perfect for a gouache painting, right? I distracted myself from work. The scenery is just so peaceful and picturesque.  “Seikatu, can you take a picture of me later?” I asked absentmindedly. I halt, and look at him who's looking at me too. “I mean if it's okay—” “Sure. But let's study first.” he negotiated and I agreed. Minutes have passed, we reach a spot that is so perfect for our plans. We are now on the green soft grass below a tree located near the lake.  I'm now regretting being in my own little bubble instead of wandering around my country. Even just Tokyo itself has this and more. Seikatu placed a mat— which I didn't know where he'd get that— and sat making his back incline on the tree. The images of us on a tree way back at Aokigahara flashed through my mind, making me gulp. I sat not so near nor far from him and we set up our things on the mat with us. Seikatu stuck his nose on his book right after and I have to study too. Just looking at him makes me envious of studying, so I did. After reading half of my notes, I yawned and sighed. The silence is like a lullaby and the breeze is so relaxing.  I reposition myself and find a more comfortable seat to study. Inclining my back on the tree made me go back to reading my lessons.  As my studying came more quickly than I imagined, it had just twenty-five lessons and I think my mind absorbed the knowledge already. I close my notebook and place it on my lap. I yawn again and let myself doze off to sleep. It was a sunny day of the first month of spring in a national park. A man under a tree sits with his book having a sleeping lady on his shoulder. My eyes flutter as the picture of my dream sinks in through me. There's an open book in front of me, in the hands of a very very familiar hand. The breeze smells like the combination of nature and cool manly ocean perfume that fills my nostrils like it's natural to my senses. My eyes are the only part of me that moves as I feel a broad comfortable edge I'm leaning on, a shoulder. A hand flips the book's page. Seikatu. I remove my head on his shoulder instantly like he's that hot to make me burn. Seikatu turned to me. “Good morning.” he said softly and I blinked at the sight.  “So . . .sorry.” I look at his shoulder and to his eyes. “Does your neck hurt?” I felt my neck and massage it lightly before I shook my head. “Have you finished your lessons?” I look at my lap where my notebooks were supposed to be. It's gone but it's now on my left while Seikatu is on my right. Our arms were touching— my skin tingles on the sight.  “Y— yeah. I finished all of it before I dozed off . . .” The breeze feels cooler than it was hours ago. It makes me more intoxicated than I already am because of Seikatu. My mind says to move away from him but then our closeness feels so good making me feel safe, secure, at ease, in peace— Seikatu moved away from the tree which I internally protested. He looked at me and raised his brow sensing my protest, perhaps? I smiled at him. “You sure finish reading a lot.” I just say for distraction. He's pages near the back cover of a thick book he's holding. “What's the book all about?” I can see cells and all from here. “Pathophysiology.” my eyes twinkle as I move towards him to examine the book.  “Interesting! Can I read it after you?” heck. Even his hands fit while holding the book— it's the book I'm examining.  He handed it to me, and my mouth formed an O upon holding it. “I have this kind of book on my shelf.” I said truthfully. I have the first to fifth edition of it. This is the third. “You bought it?”  I shook my head. “My parents did. I have it's first to fifth edition together with the Physiology, Anatomy, Inorganic and organic chemistry, epidemiology, and more. That's the most recent book I have and I'm loving it.” I stopped talking. My mouth has so much to tell when he's listening. He's a good listener— and has a good shoulder to sleep on too. He chuckled. “Your room looks like a library in my mind.” I glare at him. “How dare you?” I said and shrugged. “It's true though. I have . . .” I count the shelves in my room. “Two shelves plus the built-in shelves? Oh! There are storage boxes below my bed too! It's filled with books.” He chuckled at me. “Amidst the smell of books that is relaxing. You sure feel pressured with it.” “I'm used to it.” I sighed and saw my painting materials.  Copyright©2021 ItsMeYourDay Day Biasca
