Chapter 33

2027 Words
Seikatu closed it like he was hiding something. Okay? I haven't seen the girl's face in the picture, I just know it's a girl.  I gulped. I suddenly feel like going home or going to where Souru is.  “What are you doing here?” he asked as he put the book inside his bag.  I ask myself. What am I doing here? The picture! I suddenly remembered my promise to Souru.  “Uhh . . .I was just wondering if I can take a picture—” “Katu? Katu—” Zire came and grinned upon seeing me. “Hey there, Zyosei!” he raised his hand for a high five. I slowly raise mine hesitantly. “H— hi!” I didn't know how to greet. Zire faced Seikatu and teased him. “Seems like I'm not the one you'd been waiting for.”  Seikatu shrugged. “Give me my ID.” he just replied. “Here. Thanks.” Zire handed an ID to Seikatu— who just nodded— and looked at the two of us. “Gotta go!” Then he ran away from us with a grin. What's with the running? Faya ran earlier, now her lover?  “So, what were you saying?” Seikatu faced me and avoided his eyes, which made me catch my parents staring at us from afar. “Oh sheep.” I whispered. Seikatu sighed. “The guards thinks we're dating—”  “Katu? Zyosei?” my mom's voice called when the two of them got near us. I gulped while Seikatu faced them. “Profess—” he was about to bow but my father signaled him not to. My parents look at me beside Seikatu then to Seikatu himself. I gulped nervously. Mother raised a brow at me. “You two knew each other.” surprise is evident in her voice.” What should I say? “Uhh—” “Yes, ma'am, sir. I've known your daughter.” Seikatu answered casually. My father looked at Seikatu seriously for a minute before it went down on me. “What may be the reason for you to be here, Zyosei?” I clutched the pleat of my skirt. “I'm here because . . .” think, Zyosei! I heard Seikatu sighed. “Zyosei might have forgotten to tell you. She went here so we can study together.”  “Is that why you always got home late?” my father asked. I nodded. “Y— yes.” “Why is that?” my mother in an intriguing tone. Why do students study together? Heck! I can't think rationally! “We're dating.” I said nonchalantly and stopped breathing afterwards. What the fur?! My parents frowned at us. “Come again, Zyosei?” the two asked in unison. I gulped. Oh my sheep!  “We're . . .seeing each other, sir, ma'am.” Seikatu said hesitantly but in a calm tone. My parents looked at each other and shared a smile. What does that smile mean? “Take care of our daughter, then. We'll go now.” My mother then looked at me. “Study well.” My father stared at us one last time. “Invite him to eat with us sometime, Zyosei.” Then my parents left, making me catch my breath. When my breathing goes normal. I walk away from Seikatu in embarrassment. What the heck did I just say?! Ground! Do swallow me! “Are you okay?” I halt. He followed me. “No. I'm sorry.” I kept on walking. Seikatu became silent but I could feel his stare behind me. After thirty minutes or so, we reached the station and I sat on the waiting chair where Seikatu sat beside me too. I thought he'll go? “You must go.” I said calmly, unable to look at him. “Are you okay now?” he asked and sighed. “You're so tense— nervous with your parents.” he stated matter of factly. I smiled bitterly. “Yeah.” I sighed once again. “I'm sorry about earlier.” looking up at him, he was already staring back at me. “Are you always like that to them?”  I nodded. “They always put pressure on me when it comes to excellency and achievements. I can't take all of it and ended up being a shame on them both.”  A lone tear escaped my tears again as Seikatus' eyes followed and sighed. I wiped my tears. “Sorry, I'm crying again.” chuckling while crying in front of Seikatu is becoming my habit. “They just want to see the best in you in a way they know how. They are proud of you nonetheless.” he stated and gave face the front for me to not feel more embarrassed while wiping my tears. I chuckled. “I don't think so. They always say not to disappoint them again and not to put a shame on them.” remembering my father's words this morning. That still sting makes crying harder. “Your family lacks communication.” he assumed that I agreed. “I knew you through Mr. Kanasimi, do you know that?” I frowned and stared at him. “Huh?” how? Because he's my father? “You might really know me because of him. My surname came from him.” I joked. “He was and still is my proffesor in a certain subject. He always tells me how proud he is of his daughter.” he tells me that made me process a bit. “My father? You mean Mr. Hiku Kanasimi?” I blinked. “He even showed me a picture of you.” Seikatu chuckled and my eyes watered again. “Hey, sorry.” I laughed. “I just can't process it. He always talked like I'm ashamed and you were saying—”  “Zyosei, you're not a shame.” Seikatu said with finality. He then looked at me. “You're not a shame. You are someone to be proud of.”  I gaze away. Why do his words make my heart melt?  “I guess you're fine now,” he said, so I looked up again. “Thank you.” I said sincerely that he just gazed away. Okay? He's not used to people thanking him? But he acknowledged Zire's thank you? I shrugged it off. Silence filled the atmosphere between me and Seikatu but the unknown tension was there as always. I wonder where the tension is coming from.  I got my phone from my pocket, which made me graze Seikatu's arm and stopped from moving. My skin tingles so I look up to him. That made me see his ocean blue eyes.  “Uhh— sorry.” Then I glanced away and finally pulled my phone from my coat's pocket. It's just so awkward to get in touch with him. My system always panics and I can't do anything to stop it like what Guki said. Unlocking the phone, I just realized that I might boost Souru's hope with it. I looked at Seikatu who looked back at me. “Uhm . . .” He raised his eyebrows, which made me smile awkwardly. “This isn't what you will think but can we . . .take a picture— I mean can I take a picture of you?” Seikatu frowned at me and looked at the phone I'm clutching. “I'm not fond of taking pictures—” “Don't worry about it!” my excitement is very and is obviously evident. “I'm the one who'll take a picture so you just have to smile—” “You won't do that.” he frowned at me and got my phone in my hand making our fingers crash. That shivers. He stares at my phone and looks at it's wallpaper. “It's so beautiful, isn't it?” I look at my screen and Seikatu's eyes. “Like your eyes.” Then I look back at my phone. “Souru said you got that from your father and his sapphire blue came from your mother—” I stopped talking, feeling his eyes on me. “I'm sorry. That's so insensitive of me.” Seikatu just tapped the application and the front camera appeared with half of our faces on one frame. Then he taps it continuously.  “Hey!” I hold his hand. “Do it properly!” but he continues doing it! I swear I look horrible than I was in those photos! “Yah!” he stopped. I glare at Seikatu who's grinning at me. “What?” “You do have an annoying side.” he smiled that made my glare fade. He knows how to smile and I wish Souru can see it too. “Let's take a picture.” As I look at the camera, Seikatu looks at it too and then he taps the capture button continuously again. This man will flood my photo gallery. “Will you smile?” I asked as we were still taking pictures after five minutes. Seikatu won't smile! “Let me.” I get my phone from his hand and face to eyes. “Smile or—” “Fine.” his hand holds mine— the one who's holding the phone making me stare at his face. The heck?! He smiled and I felt his fingers push my finger to capture it. Holy sheep! My internals screamed and I couldn't move!  Seikatu repeated but my finger stayed on the button so Seikatu stared back at me. Holy shi— eep!  Then he removed his hand immediately and looked away. “Sorry.” he stood up. “The train to your house may be here.” He walked to the platform and I just stayed there looking at his back. “What the heck just happened?” I whispered to myself and took a very very deep breath. Gathering back my sanity, I stood up and slowly walked near Seikatu near the entrance of the train. He put his hand on the small of my back and pushed me lightly towards the inside of the train with him— wait. “Are you riding the same train?” “I'm walking you home.” he simply said and added. “Your parents might run on you again.” I nodded at that. “Y— yeah.” his hand is so gentle on my back— Stop taking this somewhere, Zyosei. I sighed. I have reason to go near Seikatu now because of his brother but, when things got settled. We'll all go back to our lives and live the most out of it. Seikatu removed his hands and I sat on one of the seats where Seikatu was beside me. Feeling awkward, I unlocked my phone and went to i********: to check what's going on in the world.  As I scroll on my feed, a picture made me smile genuinely and even giggled. It's Faya! I wonder if her aunt has or is active on i********:— maybe my friend blocked her own aunt? I know Faya and she can.  Faya posted a picture of her with Zire at Meguro river. Maybe that's their favorite place. Zire is holding a frappe while Faya is holding a waffle, both of them are showing it on the camera but the happiness on their eyes screams the most.  I double tap the screen to like the post. The train accelerated and all I did was scroll on my social media accounts to lessen the tension between me and the man beside me with ocean blue eyes. “Zyosei.” Seikatu called calmly. “Yes?” I answered with my eyes on my phone. Silence roared between us and I just let it be. A lot of things happened today and I don't have the courage to meet his eyes. It feels like it will swallow me like what whirlpool does.  “What are the pictures for?” Copyright©2021 ItsMeYourDay Day Biasca
