He nodded and I ran towards the forest once again.
Hiding myself behind one of the huge trees. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes.
Might as well not see anything than to tremble or worse, pass out because of fear.
A minute passed before I heard some footsteps. Its sounds were slicing through the creepy diapasons of dangling bones. I still wonder how ghosts make sounds like they are still alive.
My whole body tensed but I managed to calm it down by thinking that the ghost won't hurt me.
Zyosei, he won't harm you. He's kind. He saved you.
“Why'd you go back?” Then there's the kid's voice echoing from seven feet apart from where I am— estimately from the volume of his voice.
“Can I . . .open my eyes?” I asked carefully.
“I suggest you not to but, if you won't be scared . . .sure.” he chuckled.
Will I be fine? The kid won't hurt or chase me to death besides Zire is just waiting for me— if he didn't leave of course.
My eyes settled on the ghost standing seven feet from where I am. He's looking at me intently with his sad blue eyes. All of his bruises are still the same.
I blink a few times before I look down to the ground, the sadness in his eyes is contagious.
“D— didn't see you earlier.” I stutter.
“There's someone aside from you earlier.” he stated matter of fact. “What brings you here again?”
My lips formed a smile. “I'm here to say thank you. You save me from death. I owe you big time.” my emotions began to overflow on my chest. “Thank you.” I said with innermost sincerity and with teary eyes. “For showing yourself that day, for talking to me with humor, for distracting me, for scaring me that made me go home.” I chuckled at the last part.
“Thank you very much for what you have done. Thank you.” With courage, I lift my gaze from the ground to him, who is looking at me in awe.
He has the kindest heart. I want to hug someone— a stranger, for the first time but I obviously can't.
I'm more grateful now than scared before. This ghost is one of a kind that I won't be able to forget.
“You went here to say thank you?” amazement is evident in his tone. “You sure came from a long way. I feel special.” he chuckled, which made me smile.
“You're special. I mean it.” I replied that it made his blue eyes twinkle. Ghosts are special, for me they are amazing.
“You're welcome, miss . . .?”
“Kanasimi. Zyosei Kanasimi. Just Sei”
“The lady who almost hung herself.” he joked, which made me shake my head in embarrassment.
I didn't know that hanging myself feels embarrassing in front of someone who actually died. It feels like I'm wasting the life that someone wishes they still have.
“Your last name sounds familiar but anyway, I'm Souru.” Souru introduced himself and smiled at me. His name is so much better than to call him a ghost kid where the kid doesn't suit his physique.
I may still fear him but it's a default because he's a ghost but I feel safe.
“Are you sure you went here just to thank me? It's kinda . . .” he shrugged.
“I may be scared but yes?” This kid is adorable. If he's just still alive— the smile on my lips vanishes. I moved my gaze away from Souru and settled it on his side.
If he's still alive, maybe, just maybe if I met him not in this instance I'll be glad to know him. I'll be glad to befriend him.
“Your not thinking any suicidal, aren't you?” Souru's voice was careful and asking for confirmation.
I smiled and shook my head. “I was just thinking if . . .if you are still alive maybe we met in some different way . . .” trailing it off feels so unsure but it's the truth. I'm just hesitant to say it verbally.
Souru smiled, unhappy, sad, a smile that was full of regrets. “Yeah. If I am still living.” and I wonder what exactly happened to him.
I regretted telling what I told. “Hey! Souru, I didn't mean it that way. I just want to be your friend.”
His brows rose. “Really?” gone all the unhappiness seconds ago. I nodded and that made him smile. “We can still be— well, if you want even if I'm not alive and I'm a ghost— if you just want to be friends with me, a ghost . . .”
“Alive or not, we're now friends. So, friends?” I offered my hand for him to take but he eyed it with amusement and lifted his adorable blue eyes on me.
I frown and then it sinks me. “Right.” I scratch my head instead.
Souru chuckled. “It's nearly midnight, what are your plans? You can't camp here, Sei.”
That made me think. I still have classes tomorrow, I have an egg score to deal with my parents, I do know I need a rest, and there's a man waiting for me outside the forest— if he doesn't leave.
“May I know what help I can do for you? You asked me to . . .help you the last time?” I'm feeling nervous over asking.
He's kind and he won't make me do things such as revenge and hell— he chuckled again and soon enough to turn into laughter.
He was laughing at me and I don't have any idea why— my eyes grew wide. No way. Is he? Is he going to make me hurt someone? No way.
His laughter died down but my nervousness slowly became unbearable as I clutched my chest through my clothes.
“It's not what you think. I won't make you do revenge or anything you are thinking of.” he tsked.
“Promise?” my heart is beating fast! “Promise me.” I almost pleaded but Souru just chuckled.
“Promise and calm down.” I nodded and closed my eyes to help myself relax. “Is this how it feels like to have a sister? Overreacting— uhm, dramatic?”
My eyes flew open in an instant at that. “Don't you dare call my team overreacting. We have reasons, okay?” Now, I'm irritated. How dare this kid invalidate women's feelings?!
He's face and eyes soften. “I'm sorry. I really am. It's just . . .”
I raised my brows and glared at him. “Just what?” My irritation is very evident.
“Sorry, Sei. It's just where I live— I mean, when I'm still alive, I don't have a sister with me. I also don't have a woman throughout my life like a sister or for the past years, a . . .mother.” his voice became inaudible at the last word.
My irritation vanishes in an instant and is replaced by pity. “I'm sorry.” I sincerely said. “You have me now.” I smile. “I don't have a sibling so . . .” I looked at him as I trailed it off.
Having Souru as my brother isn't hard. It will be fun to have a sibling younger than me even though he's taller than me but yes.
“Can you be my sister?” His excitement made me smile.
“Of course! Hell! I have a sibling now!” I cheered.
We grinned in excitement. He looked at me with his twinkling blue eyes and I clasped my hand tightly as I imagined things on having a sibling.
