Chapter 17 - Daddy

FLASHBACK

I got up from my sleep, I couldn't find daddy on my bed, so I got off the bed and went straight to his library where I thought I could find him, but he was not there.

" Daddy, where are you?"

I went to the front porch, rubbing my eyes, holding mister Binnie in the other hand.

" Daddy, where are you ?" I called for him again.

"I am here sweetheart," I heard his voice from the direction where the patio furniture was placed.

" Why did you leave me alone ?" I asked practically jumping on him while he was seated on the sofa.

" Because you already were in the unicorn dreamland sweetie and daddy needed to finish his diary," he said placing me comfortably on his lap.

" do you want to eat the meal daddy cooked for you," he kissed my forehead.

" ok, sure, but can I also have the special pudding mommy made for us," I said looking at him with a puppy face.

" only if you let me eat you as a sweet dish," he said throwing my giggling self in the air.

PRESENT

 I Couldn't sleep, I was pacing around in my room. I know they all wanted to save me, but I wanted my answers, I loved him more than I can express, he was my hero.

" enough is enough, I cannot handle this anymore, I need to find out what he didn't tell me,".

I rushed to the wardrobe, took out my bag, and packed up everything that I thought was necessary for this small trip of mine.

 I got changed and got out of my room as carefully so that nobody notices me, sneaking out of the house.

I knew I cannot take the car at the risk of being caught, so I decided I would rent one, there is a  car rental service two kilometers from the packhouse so I decided to run till there and get a car.

I was able to sneak out without anyone finding out and got on the road.

"I am sorry Sam, I know you will be angry with me, but I have to do this," I said looking back at the packhouse.

 "Then don't go," I heard  Sam's voice " at least not without me," he said walking towards me.

" Sam," I said almost about to cry.

" He is correct, you go without us and I will kick your ass before that black demonic thing can," Jasper said coming out of the shadows.

 Sam came close to me and hugged me from the side.

" Also if we don't protect our luna, I don't know how shitty this guy will turn out," Adam said pointing out towards Sam.

I started to cry.

"I am so sorry guys, I know you want to protect me, but he was my father, I don't want to die guessing, "I said.

" you are so obsessed about dying, geezzz," Adam joked.

" ok, let's just get it over with, we travel to ember city tonight, find out whatever we can, and come back by day after tomorrow," Sam said.

" Not a day more than that, and please for god sake listen to me, this time, ok? " sam said making me look at him.

" ok," that was the only thing I could manage to say.

" This is the central library where our alpha met her soulmate," Jasper said looking at the huge building which was supposed to be a library.

"I am sorry to say but, this is huge how are we going to find anything in a day?" adam said, munching on the enormous chocolate bar he bought from the store beside.

" you people suck, let's just go inside and get this over with," Sam said walking into the huge building.

"I have a question, where do we start and what do we look for," adam said running behind sam inside the building.

" He is right, what are we looking for ?" Jasper said moving close to me.

" We look at the employee records, its a huge library, I am sure they have a system on which they run," I replied to his question making my way inside the library.

" Excuse me ma'am " I approached the librarian with the brightest smile I could, " where can we check the employee records if we want to, " 

" You may access the library computers," she said without even looking at us.

" Is it that easy to access the employee records," Jasper questioned.

" let me do it," adam said getting down with the computer and searching it for the records.

" Did you find anything? " I asked curiously.

" They don't have any record of your father working here, but they do have a record of him donating 21 books to the library," he replied.

"  that's it, let's go through the books maybe we will be able to get something on him.," I said instructing him to get a print of the names of the books my father donated.

" now maybe we are going too far with this," Jasper said.

" We said we will give her a day, so let's just do whatever she wants us to do for her," Sam said looking through the list.

" Fine " adam said with his hands in the air.

We went through the entire library and looked through all the books that he donated but we found nothing. Coming out of the library, we sat down in the coffee shop adjacent to the library ordering something to eat for all of us. 

"I cannot believe I read an entire book on the french revolution," Adam complained.

" That was the only book you read, Ohh and the other children's book,"

" Hey that was an amazing poem by the way," Adam said faking to be offended " even though we read faster than normal humans, we have our capacity, I read an entire book on the french revolution, common cut me some slack," he added.

" Did you at least learn anything " Sam added.

" Did you know that It is estimated that as many as 40,000 people were executed at The Guillotine during the French Revolution and the Reign of Terror that followed". Adam said 

" That is so sad, an awful fact to remember," I reacted.

" Well, that's what you get to make me go through the entire book,"  Adam laughed.

"I read 10 f*****g books, and I have never read a book on cooking, I now know how to cook a strawberry pudding," Jasper sighed.

" Will you make a strawberry pie for me?" adam said with a puppy face.

" That's a very random long list of books to be donated to the library, I read a book on frogs and ts anatomy," Sam said, making a weird face.

Both Adam and Jasper started laughing.

" what about you did you find anything?" sam questioned looking at me curiously.

" apart from how to make an underground tunnel, nothing much was helpful," I groaned.

" Now what do we do ?" Jasper asked.

"I wish I could have found something about him but I couldn't and hence, We go back, as I promised you all," I stated.

" wherever you go where ever you be, it's my heart that will always plea.

it's the love that we share little bee, you are daddy's little princess so never worry" Adam said.

" That's nice adam," I murmured.

" well it is, but it's not mine, its the book that I read," Adam exclaimed " also I know we couldn't  find anything solid, but I sneaked out this book for you since it was about father-daughter relationship" 

" You stole a book from the library," Jasper hissed at Adam in a surprised tone.

" Hey!!!!!!! We are about to save the world, we deserve to treat ourselves ". Adam said taking a bite of the sandwich in front him.

" That is well said from your stupid mouth Adam," Sam said.

I leaned in to kiss sam on his cheek " I love you " 

" well that was unexpected, nice " he kissed me back but this time on my lips.

" and my boys, thank you both so much," I said turning to adam and jasper coming back to my seat.

"let's go back, we need to figure out how are we going to protect ourselves since we have already lost a day " Sam stated, getting up from the chair.

"let's get prepared ".
