Chapter 16- The Truth

It had been five minutes without my mother uttering a word out of her mouth with no reaction, no questions no statements, no curiosity. her face was completely blank.

" mom, what are you thinking, what is going on in your mind, did you know anything about dad no being a human, how do we find out dad ?"  it felt like I had more questions than she did.

She took a deep breath and said "I had no idea about this, he never told me anything about he not being a hymn, he never showed me his powers or abilities, as per I have heard angels are very powerful and gifted," she said not lifting her head which was placed on her palms.

"I think he masked his scent pretty well, he was desperate about us not finding out about his identity," she said finally looking up and straight into my eyes," I was his mate and he hid it from me too, there must be a strong reason behind it, otherwise it is so difficult for mates to hide anything from each other," although what she said made sense and her voice was firm, could see the disappointment in her eyes she was as devasted as I was about being unaware of such an important detail about my father. 

"I want to find out about him, mom ", I said taking her hands into mine. 

she looked at me for some time and said, "I will have to figure out where to start" she sounded confused.

" how about where you both met, maybe we will be able to find out something there." I was hopeful about it, I knew it would be the best place to start.

"I met him in the city of ember, I went there on a vacation, my college was done and I wanted a break, 

it was my first solo trip and I wanted to explore everything I could and learn everything I could possibly learn, the central library situated in ember was one of the oldest libraries in the world and it had everything that I could possibly ask for.

It had books on history, it as loaded with books on medicine and combat and it was the one-step solution to any book I could have ever asked for," she said with her eyes getting wet.

"I was eager to see that library and acquire as much knowledge I could from that library," she said still not displaying any emotion.

" There he was behind the counter of the library, he looked amazing, he had a charm to his smile and he looked like he came directly from heaven," she said, but before she could complete her sentence I did " like an angel," I was not given sure if I was happy with that or not.

" my heart was beating really fast, but then I decided to go there and talk to him, I knew at that point that, he was  my mate, but I also understood the problem that was going to occur," she said 

" he was a human, and only the thought about  making him understand about the mate concept was making me mad," 

"I decided to take it slow and make myself like wine to him, an acquired taste for his human soul," she said taking my hands into hers.

"I used to go to the library every day to read books, and just to be near him, but I remember one fine day, the pull that I felt against him was  1000times stronger, that day I could not control myself and approached him and said with a poker face," 

 after a minute of silence again she said,

" It's different today, you look more handsome than yesterday and I couldn't control it anymore you are my mate and I am a werewolf exactly like they show in fantasy dramas that everyone watches."

" You did what?" I said surprised by what she did, I mean what if he got scared and told anyone anything.

" Yes, I told him everything and in the most stupid way anyone could ever imagine, but his reaction will surprise you more, he looked at me for one whole minute, held my hand and dragged me out of the library, he took me to the garden opposite to the library and made me sit on a bench, and came and sat near me,".

" You are stupider than I thought, why will you say that in front of everyone, isn't it a rule or something in your community to not let any outsider know about your existence," he said without breaking his eye contact with me.

" He knew about us ? ", every sentence mom was saying was coming out as a surprise for me.

" Yes, he knew about us, although he never told me how he knew it, apart from the fact that after he found out one of his friends was a werewolf, his curiosity rose and he decided to research and know about us as much as he could, apart from that I don't know anything, he never talked on it," mom said.

" What happened after that ?" I questioned.

" He said even though he cannot relate to the mate bound as much as I do but the attraction that he felt towards me was beyond explanation, and he wanted to be with me, every second of every day, we used to be together always, I even moved in with him, we used to be together all the time, time passed and I got to know a lot about him, about his kindness, his  caring  nature, and his intelligence,"

" We didn't even realize and a lot of time passed and it was time to return to my pack, I didn't know how I would break this news to him, I wanted him to come here with me, but I was confused if he would leave everything for me and come with me to my pack land," she sat there silent after that until I decided to break the silence.

" Mom, what was his reply ?"

" He said he would follow me to the end of the earth, he said he had no one but me, he was an orphan and he never talked about his parents or his family, he only told me that he lost them in a car accident 3 years back and talking about it gives him a heartache,".

" He came with me, to our pack land, he was one of the smartest people I ever met, he still is, he helped us develop a lot of programs and weapons, and helped with a lot of research programs," she said.

" We were happy together, everything was going good and then we had you, he loved you more than anything, but he never told me anything about him not being human, I had no idea," she said with her eyes wet.

" We need to go to ember city, to the central library mom, we need to go back and see if we can find anything about him," I needed to know about my dad, 

I practically jumped off my chair, I was desperate to get the answers and know my father more.

" We can't do that hope, we don't have time  ", jasper said in his cool and contained behavior.

" He is correct, its only a week from the blue moon night, and we need to have a plan," adam said not even looking at us.

  "I might be here later to know my father more, its important to me," I said not even listening to what others had to speak.

" enough!!!" sam almost growled " nobody is going anywhere," sam's firm voice made me freeze in my place.

I dropped on the sofa near me placing my head in my palms.

sam came near me and sat in front of me taking my hands into his and said " hope I promised to keep you safe and I am going to keep my promise, nothing is going to happen to you, and we will have time to find out everything that you want to know about your father, but firsts things first, let's handle this first,

imagine what would happen if that door is opened, the safety of the world depends on us ", sam said calmly, trying to convince me.

" ok il do whatever you think is correct," I said in a low voice.

" good, sam kissed on my forehead and turned towards others.
