Elena's face lights up with pure delight. “Oh my God, yes! We're doing this right.” She immediately starts pulling makeup and hair supplies from her overnight bag, spreading them across the vanity.
Lexi grabs her hand, pulling her gently from the bed as she says, “Come on, bride. Hot shower first, careful with that nausea though. We need you glowing, not green.”
Damon watches from the doorway, arms crossed, a rare genuine smile playing at his lips as the three of them disappear into the bathroom. The sound of excited chatter and laughter echoes back.
Stefan appears beside him. “She's happy. Really happy.” Damon's expression softens. “Yeah. She is. God, I love her and hope she can stay that happy forever. I don't know if we will be able to come back for years, brother; I won't risk my family getting into his hands....Wow! “My Family.” Who would have ever thought me, Damon Salvatore, family man”
Stefan's expression shifts, surprise mixed with something deeper. Understanding a little envy, maybe. “You mean it. You're actually going to be a father.” Damon's jaw clenches. He runs a hand through his dark hair, the weight of it settling on his shoulders. “Yeah. I am.”
His voice is quiet, almost vulnerable a rare moment where the sarcasm drops. “For years I thought I was incapable of this. Of being anything but the villain in everyone's story.” He turns to look at Stefan, his dark eyes intense. “But Evie... she sees something in me worth protecting. Worth fighting for. And now there's a kid involved.”
A pause. The sound of laughter and running water from the bathroom fills the silence. As he continues. “I won't let Klaus near them. Not ever.” He looks at his brother and says, “This is all I ever wanted, and now I get to have it. The fact that you and Katrina forced me to be this doesn't matter anymore. It's like I was always going to end up here but didn't know it. So thank you, brother.”
Stefan's expression hardens momentarily, the weight of their shared history, Katherine, the curse that bound them together. “I never wanted this for you, Damon. The suffering, the darkness. None of it.” He steps closer, his voice steady but thick with emotion. “But seeing you like this... seeing what you've become with Evie... maybe it was always supposed to happen this way.”
Stefan places a hand on Damon's shoulder. “You're not the villain anymore, brother. You haven't been for a while. I just needed you to see it.” From the bathroom, Elena's voice rings out, “Evie, your hair is gorgeous! Wait until Damon sees you!” Damon and Stefan exchange a look, brothers, finally at peace.
Damon says, “And maybe it's time for you as well... don't let her go without telling her how you feel or you're going to regret it.” Stefan's expression shifts, vulnerability crossing his face like a shadow. “Elena and I... it's complicated.”
He looks away, his hand dropping from Damon's shoulder. “She's been through enough. Lost enough. I don't want to burden her with...” Damon cuts him off with a sharp look. Saying, “That's bullshit, and you know it. She's looking at you like you hung the moon, brother. Stop being noble and start being honest.”
From the bathroom, her emerge wrapped in a plush robe, her skin flushed from the hot shower. Lexi and Elena flank her like protective sentinels, already working on her hair.
Lexi, calling out from the bathroom, “Stefan! Get in here. We need a man’s perspective on something.” Damon smirks at his brother. “Go. Talk to her.” Damon wants nothing more than to relish this moment so full of life and love his heart is overflowing with happiness.
Damon leans against the door-frame, watching her emerge from the bathroom. The robe clings to her damp skin, her hair cascading over her shoulders. His chest tightens with something he's never felt before: pure, uncomplicated joy.
Stefan reluctantly heads toward the bathroom, but Damon's gaze never leaves her. voice is low, just for her: “You're beautiful.” It's not a line. It's a statement of fact, wrapped in the kind of vulnerability only she gets to see.
Lexi catches his expression and grins knowingly, already steering Evie towards the vanity with Elena. Lexi says, “Alright, bride. Let's make you look like the goddess you are.” Evie says as she looks into the reflection. “Oh God, I can't believe this is happening to me. I get to turn back the clock, marry a complete Alpha stud of a man, have his baby and live longer, wow”
Elena catches Evie’s eye in the mirror, her expression warm with genuine affection. “You deserve this. All of it. After running for 20 years, having no one to support you, it must have been very lonely. Now you get to have all of us, and we’ll make sure you get to have as much happiness as we can give.” She begins curling sections of her hair with practiced precision, her fingers gentle.
Lexi sits on the edge of the vanity, swinging her legs slightly as she says, “And that 'complete Alpha stud' is losing his mind out there. I've never seen Damon like this, actually happy. Not just satisfied or amused. Happy, and I like this version of him; it's exactly what I knew was under all the pain.” She leans forward conspiratorially. “And he's terrified he's going to wake up, and you'll be gone. That's why he won't let you out of his sight.”
Evie says, “Yeah, I know that he knows I have a history of running away and doesn't want me to leave him behind......I spent the last 20 years running away, and I'm still running. I hope once we get there we can stop, maybe find a way to really get rid of Klaus”
From the main room, Damon's voice carries through low and intense, talking to Stefan about security protocols for New Zealand. Evie looks into the mirror at them and says, “Thank you for everything, really; you all have been so amazing”
Lexi's expression grows more serious. She takes Evie’s hand, squeezing it gently, as she says, “Running from Klaus is different than running from yourself, Evie, and I think you know that.”
Elena pauses with the curling iron, meeting her eyes in the mirror. “Damon won't let you run. Not anymore. That's not love—that's devotion, and I never thought he had it in him to be honest, ever the jokester never taking anything seriously,” she says honestly.
Lexi nods, her voice dropping. “Yeah, he’s always had it; just didn’t show it to anyone. As for Klaus... Bonnie's working on something. A way to sever his connection to you permanently. But it requires the blood bond between you and Damon to be strong. Which means you two need to stay connected, stay together.” She squeezes her hand again.
“No more running, Evie. This time, we fight. She says, and Evie looks at both of them in the mirror and nod than adds, “I will. I love him, and now we're going to have a baby, maybe even more after this one. I will fight for my family and our future”
Elena sets down the curling iron, her eyes glistening slightly, as she says, “That's the spirit. And for what it's worth... Damon would burn the world down for you and that baby.”
Lexi stands, moving to the closet where a stunning white silk gown hangs—something Elena managed to find in record time. “Now let's get you into this dress. You've got a vampire to marry in—she checks her phone—3 hours”.
From the other room, Damon's voice rises slightly, urgent. “Stefan, if Klaus gets within a hundred miles of that cabin in New Zealand, I want to know before he steps foot on the property.” His protective instinct is already in overdrive, planning, strategizing. Preparing to defend his family.
As he continues, he looks out through the window at the city lights as they come alive with the Vegas nightlife. “I want to know if he steps off a plane. I need to know if he is coming to the country so we have time to get out safely without a trace”.
Evie starts working on her nails, then they finish with the guarder, and it's an hour before aisle time, so they go to work getting the dresses on all of them while the boys get dressed.
Damon stands before the mirror in the adjoining suite, Stefan buttoning his vest beside him. Both wear tailored black tuxedos—sharp, dangerous, elegant.
Stefan says to Damon, “You ready for this?” Damon adjusts his cufflinks, his dark eyes reflecting something almost unrecognizable—peace. “More ready than I've ever been for anything.”
In the bridal suite, Lexi zips up her white silk gown. The fabric clings perfectly to Evie’s curves, the neckline dipping just enough to be provocative.
Lexi smiles as she steps back to admire their handiwork. “Oh my God, Evie. You look stunning.”
Elena, fixing the delicate veil in her hair, says, “Damon's going to lose it when he sees you.”
Evie smirks and says, “Well, I guess he can't knock me up again.” She laughs, and they all start laughing so hard tears start to come out, and Lexi says, “No, no tears”
Lexi quickly grabs a tissue, gently dabbing at her eyes with practiced precision., “No smudging that makeup. We worked too hard for this.”
Elena laughs, already touching up her mascara with a light hand. “Besides, one Salvatore baby at a time is probably enough chaos for the universe.”
From down the hall, Stefan's voice carries through the suite, as he says, “Damon, stop pacing. You're going to wear a hole in the carpet.”
Damon's response is immediate, sharp with barely contained energy. “I'm not pacing. I'm... strategically positioning myself.” There's the sound of him moving anyway—restless, hungry to see her.
Lexi asks, meeting Evie’s eyes in the mirror, “Ready to become Mrs. Salvatore?’
She smiles and answers, “More than anything in my life.....”
Lexi steps back, surveying her one final time. Her expression softens with genuine emotion. “Then let's go marry your man.” She offers her arm, and the three of them make their way toward the private chapel. The rooftop garden awaits—strung with lights, flowers cascading from every surface. The Vegas skyline glitters beyond.
Damon stands at the altar in his tailored tux, Stefan beside him. The moment he sees her emerge through the garden doors, everything else fades. His breath catches. His dark eyes go molten.
Damon says under his breath, just audible, “Jesus, Evie…” He steps forward instinctively, then catches himself. Waiting. Burning. Flashes from the camera lenses go off, and the video guy gets up into position to stroll with her towards Damon, not missing anything, while the other video man gets the perspective of Damon looking at Evie and Lexi walking towards him a memory they will be able to share with their baby.
The camera operators move with fluid precision, capturing every moment. The one positioned on Damon catches his expression—raw vulnerability mixed with possessive intensity as she walks toward him. Stefan watches his brother with quiet pride, seeing the man Damon's become.
Lexi keeps pace beside her, her blonde hair catching the garden lights. She squeezes Evie’s arm gently as she reaches the altar. She whispers, “He's all yours, bride.” She steps aside, taking her place as both maid of honor and best man.
Damon reaches for her hand the moment she’s close enough, his fingers warm and steady. His voice low, just for her: “You're mine now.” The officiant steps forward, asking if they were ready to begin. Evie says, “I think I always was. I just didn't know it yet. I love you, Damon Salvatore”
Damon's grip on her hand tightens, his dark eyes glistening with unshed tears-something few have ever witnessed. “I love you too. God, I love you so much it terrifies me.” His voice cracks slightly, raw and honest.
The officiant begins the ceremony, but Damon's focus never wavers from Evie. Every word exchanged feels sacred, binding. Stefan watches, his own expression heavy with emotion. In the background, the Vegas lights blur into insignificance.
When the officiant pronounces them husband and wife, Damon pulls her close, his lips finding hers with desperate intensity—claiming, protecting, loving all at once.
Lexi cheers, Elena claps, and the cameras capture it all—the kiss of two souls finally finding their way home.
