Chapter Eleven The sound of a voice woke Mallory up. She panicked for a second, wondering who the hell was in her room, but then she remembered. Baxter. She hadn’t intended to fall asleep, especially not with him still in bed with her, but as her brain slowly started to kick into gear, she realised it could be exactly the break she’d been waiting for. Carefully cracking one eyelid open, she looked in the direction Baxter’s voice was coming from. He’d pulled on his boxer shorts—more was the pity—and was over by the window, his back to her. That, at least, was a good thing. For the moment, he had no idea she was awake and listening to his end of the conversation.
