When I lost sight of him, I hurriedly put on my clothes back. With my body still trembling, I was able to put on my dress faster than the tick of a clock. Without a second thought, I came running back to the mansion. My feet were as impatient as I am as I ran into the forest. From what I saw, they might have even followed me. But what Forest did to me earlier, I have a thought that they might have left me. I do hope so. I never look back and just continued to run. My heart painfully kept on beating so fast. But every vein in my body stopped the blood from flowing when I sensed someone following me. I licked my lips. Now, not just one but two. Two wolves are following me. I am a fast runner. But what strength do I have against them? I do have my powers but it’s limited. If this is my end then what a dumb way to die. I want to laugh at myself for being an i***t. How pathetic can my situation be? I kept on running but I only realized that I am doomed when I felt a big presence just right behind me. When I took a peek, the gigantic wolf was ready to jump on me. Surprised by what I witnessed, I was stuck on my feet. The wolf successfully jumped on me. I fell to the ground. And damn it! The ground wasn’t even just soft. It’s a rocky road! I groaned in pain. My eyes darted at the wolf. Its large head and spiky teeth made me think that this might be my last minute. The wolf growled at me. I swallowed so hard when all I could see was his sharp teeth. Is it about to eat me? For goodness sake, I trained for years just for what? To be eaten by a wolf? What an amazing way to die! While the wolf locked me on the ground, I realized that I also have my power. I emitted my light and without a second, the wolf was immediately hit by it. He sprang off of me and I could hear his cries. The wolf then turned to his human form. A man without his clothes lay in front of me. The twitching of his face was a sign he is hurt by what I did. He held his stomach, the area where he was hit. I felt guilty seeing him weak but I really just want to back home now. I turned away from him and I saw Forest just running at us. He surveyed my body. Then, his gaze when to the harmed wolf. His eyes widened at the situation with the man. He returned his eyes on me, like accusing me of what happened to the man. Well, it is really my fault. I lowered my head and without a word, I ran. I ran as far away as I could. When I saw the lights of the mansion, I felt relieved. I sighed and I just walked to the mansion now. The lights were still on. I wonder what time is it already by now. When I looked at my balcony, it seemed quiet. I climbed up on my balcony. I opened the door to my room and everything is still the way when I left. With what happened, I was able to doze myself to sleep fast. My body felt exhausted from everything. All the running and defending myself. And I even hurt someone. When I thought I could finally have peace in this world, that was when I experienced this. I shrugged off my thoughts. thinking, I survived. I did survive from death, I think. With my tired body, I fell asleep, deep. But when I woke up in the morning, a pack of wolves was waiting outside the mansion. My heart trembled. And for a moment, I wanted to vanish like smoke. I just woke up! I took another peek at my window. I closed my eyes tightly when my eyes met with Forest! He didn’t look mad at all. More like serious. I cut off our eye contact and surveyed the whole pack. Forest was just in front of the pack with a middle-aged man. I curiously looked at the man beside me. He must be the Alpha or whatever they call it. I felt my fingers cold shaking. I breathed heavily and went to the bathroom. I washed my face a couple of times and forced myself to calm down. Of course! I hurt a wolf. They should be coming after me! And if I didn’t use my powers last night? I would’ve been their dinner, I guess. But hey, have I ever heard of wolves eating witches? No! And how about Angels? Definitely, no. But there is still a possibility they can hurt me. They’re big and viscous. I’m an Angel with limited powers. How can I fight that? I stared at myself in the mirror. Goodness sake, I look paler. My face is flushed! No color at all! A knock from the door of my bathroom made me shiver from every part of my body. I breathed heavily and opened the door of my bathroom coolly.  The angry face of Christiana welcomed me. I tried to act calm. Like nothing happened. “Christiana—” I wasn’t able to finish my words when she dragged me harshly out of my bathroom. I swallowed hard when I felt her hard grip on my wrist. “What are you doing?” Tried to laugh it but it never worked. I only sounded nervous. Scared, even. Then she harshly let go of my hand. Her eyes are full of anger ad her furrowed brows told me I was just too much. She licked her lips and sighed. “Where were you last night?” in her cam tone. My eyes widened a fraction when I heard her calm tone. Even her expression suddenly turned to calm. No sign of anger or what towards me. I shifted uncomfortably. I pursed my lips when I realized I don’t know what to answer. I know I should just tell her the truth. I’m an Angel for Christ’s sake! My lips tried to move for an answer, an explanation. But in all honesty, there shouldn’t be an explanation, only a… “Sorry…” it escaped my trembling lips. Her brow raised. She gave me her nonchalant look. She shook her head. She might not have believed what came out of my mouth. What I did last night was on call. It was a mistake. And I shouldn’t have done it. I should have waited for a week to pass so that I can freely run in this world without a nagging Christiana. I should face my consequences. I should have thought of this last night! Damn it! How brazen of me to sleep comfortably last night thinking nothing would happen in the morning. How stupid! “They said they encountered a witch that had harmed one of the members of their pack. A wolf is injured and currently healing. They described this young witch as my niece,” And all I could say was… “I’m really sorry,” my eyes just wandered around the room. Christiana exhaled. “You must go downstairs and say your apologies, Eloise.” I nodded slowly. “I understand.” I sensed Christiana shaking her head immediately at what I said. “I don’t ever believe you’ll understand, Nav. You’re spoiled for an Angel,” she left the room without a word. I followed her. I know my mistake but on the other hand, it was self-defense. If the wolf didn’t attack me first then I wouldn’t have used my powers and harmed him. I can still remember how spiteful that wolf looked at me. I breathed heavily as I went downstairs. There, the pack was in the living room. waiting for me. I should apologize, right? But I was also harmed. I mean, my back still hurt now because of his attack. I should say sorry, yes. But I do believe they should say sorry to me, too. It wasn’t just him who got hurt. I got hurt too! Regardless of what I did, I was harmed too. But yes, still, doesn’t change the fact that he was the one who badly got hurt. I just hope for the best. I went to the living room. All eyes are on me. I looked around the area and damn! Smells like wolves! Christiana’s strict eyes never left me. I pursed my lips as I slightly bowed my head in front of them. In front of the middle-aged man and Forest. “For what I did last night, I am sorry, terribly sorry,” I started. I exhaled an amount of air. Piled up my guts and turned around them. Under the robe I am wearing was just my naked body, still bleeding from what happened last night. I inhaled and dropped half of my robe and showed my bare back to them. I was also hurt last night. My back is still aching. I can still feel the slow bleeding.  I don’t certainly know what hit me but I was hit by something so sharp and rough to the skin. I heard some gasp. I pulled my long hair to finally reveal my back. Christiana’s gasp was the one I particularly heard. I straightened my back making me wince. My face twitched with every ache. Mark then immediately went to me and covered my body. He put back the robe on me. I turned to them. I smirked. “Then, I believe it’s not just him who owes an apology,” Their faces were still serious but it has lessened. Forest, particularly looked flushed. But my attention was driven to Christiana’s unpaintable expression. She harshly dragged me by my shoulder. My face twitched when I felt her nails. The heck. “What are you saying?” she hissed. I looked at her confusingly. “What?” “That was their territory you were going around! You know how Wolves are territorial and you went there! They need an apology because you crossed the line, Nav! It was not because of who was hurt. It was because of—” “A stupid land,” I finished the line. My voice laced with bitterness. I saw how her jaw flexed multiple times because of what I said. I smiled bitterly and rolled my eyes when I felt a tear trying to escape my eyes. I closed my eyes and breathed heavily. Well, then, I guess I was wrong. I guess this is really entirely my fault. Is this pride? I can’t accept this? Or am I wronged? Or they were wronged? I really don’t know. “Well… I’m sorry. I’m sorry, truly.” I smiled but sarcasm was evident. “Nav!” Christiana hissed. I faced her with all of my piled-up anger towards this life. This situation. Just everything! “But get this Christiana, I’m not your bird where you can just cage whenever you want,” I gritted my teeth when I realized I really don’t know what I’m doing. I’m just mad. Angry. Spiteful. And everything is bad. I glanced at the audience in front of me. “The wolf I injured last night. He can’t be cured.” I smirked when I saw them alarmed at what they heard from me. “I can only help him. I already said my apologies then it’s his turn or else he’ll die in two days.” Then I made my exit. I never cared for what words came out of my mouth. I just let my emotions get the best of me. I might regret this tomorrow or just ignore the whole situation forever.   To be continued…
