The next day, I mainly focused on school. Requirements got heated that’s why I had to catch up since I was two weeks late. I kept myself busy with school that I had no more time to go outside and get some peacetime.
Eventually, I adjusted. After a few days, my schedule loosened. The rush and environment of schooling here actually seemed familiar. Just like Paredes. I sighed and sat right next to Mark when we arrived at the cafeteria.
“You want me to get you something?” Mark asked.
I just nodded and slumped my head on the table. Sham and Michelle kept on talking about this girl with an upcoming debut. They were actually invited. All of the students in our department were actually invited. Except me.
Mark then arrived with food on his tray. He gave me my lunch and we ate. They were still talking about some random girls’ birthday so I just kept on eating my food. Besides, I’m not even invited.
While eating, suddenly everyone’s eyes turned to the entrance of the cafeteria. With curiosity, I looked in the same direction. There, I saw a young witch in a yellow dress fitted to her body. She looks angelic with her pale skin and innocent face. She smiled the moment she got inside.
Even her smile is gentle. Well, she looks a lot younger than me. She must be a junior.
“It’s her,” I heard Jedi’s whisper.
What about that girl other than she looks like someone who fell from heaven?
She surveyed her eyes throughout the cafeteria until she met my eyes. My brows rose when she started walking to me closer. Then I noticed a small invitation on her hand, embroidered with flowers.
She walked up to me and handed me the letter.
“Hello, Miss Eloise. I’m hoping you’d come to my birthday, it’s my debut this coming next Friday,” she smiled with so much ease in her eyes.
Even her voice is soft. That’s one thing I noticed. But she seems familiar. Everything about this young lady is familiar to the feeling.
“Nav not Eloise,” I said after I accepted her invitation letter.
“I’m sorry. So, it’s Nav then. See you next Friday,”
Her smile got into my nerves. She’s too nice for this cruel world.
When she left on her position my eyes immediately met Forests’. My brow raised as I saw him anticipating a reaction from me. He looked at me with a lot of questions stored in his eyes. I shook my head lightly and cut off our eye contact.
Markus placed more food on my plate. I continued to eat my food while my eyes couldn’t stop looking at the invitation. From what I heard, she’s having her debut. So, she really is planning to invite all of us to the witch department.
I finished my food as Mark cleaned my plate for me. I helped the others clean the table when my body felt a consistent presence towards me. I looked around the cafeteria and my eyes landed again on Forest.
He still hasn’t stopped eyeing me? He gave me a tight smile then I responded with a nod. He seems displeased with the response that made me smile a bit. The side of my lips rose but my smile faded as soon as he noticed my positive reaction.
There, he made a smirk. I avoided my gaze from him yet I can still feel his intense eyes on me. I tried ignoring his direction but I always find myself getting back to him. I sighed and Sham noticed it.
“You okay? You need some rest since the requirements bombarded this week. Good thing, tomorrow’s Saturday,” she tapped my shoulder and helped me pack my stuff.
I just nodded.
Before I left the cafeteria, my eyes looked for him. Immediately, he found my eyes first. He’s been waiting for me to look at him again. I found it ridiculous that I had to giggle it out. I shook my head lightly and raise a brow at him.
What? He mouthed.
I shook my head in response and left the building. The Wolves cafeteria had to do some maintenance that they had to temporarily spend their lunch and breaktime at our cafeteria.
“You’re getting along with him,” Mark noticed it.
I stifled a laugh with his remark.
“Does it look like that?”
“You laughed,”
“Does it mean anything?”
He shrugged.
“You just look like you’re… teasing him?”
I pouted.
“I haven’t seen him for a while actually,” I kicked a pebble as we entered the building for our next class.
“He’s been looking for you,”
I nodded and entered a room for my next class. Mark proceeded to the next room. Seems like Forest has been looking for me. I find it funny though. He must have noticed that I don’t stroll much out in the woods.
But other than that, I have already prepared for his mate while I got myself busy with my school requirements. The last time the Goddess gave me a signal was the last night I spent with Forest. And that same night, he saved a young witch.
That girl. I went deeper into my thoughts and I realized that the young lady who gave me an invitation was the same girl Forest saved. I wonder how they’re doing. I already got a hint of what the Goddess wants me to do.
They might be mates.
Since the young witch is still seventeen, there is still no progress. Once she turns eighteen next Friday, I will know if she really is the mate for Forest. I am just waiting for the right time now.
Classes were smooth until they ended. And just like any other ordinary day, I went to the bleachers and saw that Mark and Sham were already playing with the wolves. I sat on the bleachers and did some remaining tasks.
I really didn’t get to see Forest for the past few days since I focused mainly on my requirements. Every time I see him approaching, I dodge. Every time I see him, I get distracted recently. It might be due to my excitement to get away from this world.
But when I analyzed everything, I can’t work with his mate if she’s seventeen so I had to focus more on my school needs. So, I had to look away every time he comes near since I get tempted to work on his destiny.
That might be the reason.
I raised my head when I heard some noises and whistles. The young lady was nearing our place. she smiled as they welcomed her. I smirked at how ridiculous that they have to celebrate their eighteenth birthday.
All my life I have never felt birthdays. How they celebrate it and the likes. That’s why Sham, Jedi, Michelle, and Mark were really excited about the event.
I just envy them. How can they be all happy in this world?
I brought my attention back to my iPad where I need to finish some tasks. I jolted when I felt his presence just near. Fortunately, I was able to get my posture back.
“A White Witch that has weak feelings for my presence. Do you hate me that much?”
I could see his brows furrowed and forehead creased. It was my first time seeing him like that. It made me smile. He saw my reaction and I must have annoyed him. I laughed when I saw his pissed face.
“Do you find this funny?”
“You look funny,” I smirked.
He avoided his eyes from mine. Wow! That was a first.
H sat beside me. A long pause and silence etched between us.
“I see you’ve been busy,” he looked at the iPad I am just holding.
“Uh-huh,”
I continued with my unfinished tasks. But Forest’s eyes still invaded me that I felt him seek deep into my soul. Eventually, it made me uncomfortable. I licked my lips which I felt him gaze upon it.
He just made it much more uncomfortable. I swallowed slowly and forced myself to do my task properly especially that Forest can’t keep his eyes away from me even just for a second. Is this some sort of connection between us because I’ll be making his destiny?
I want to hide so badly. I feel like burning because of his eyes.
“Will I be seeing you in the river tonight?”
“No,”
He sighed heavily.
“Then, can I visit you on your balcony?”
My fingers stopped from what it was doing. My head slowly turned to him. His eyes were full of hope and anticipation of disappointment at the same time. I remained to look at him for a while after I decided to just laugh it off.
“You can’t do that,” I shook my head while laughing.
He bowed his head and pursed his lips.
“I want to see you,”
I smiled.
“You are actually seeing me now,”
“Tonight,”
He seemed determined. I blinked once then twice and laughed but it turned out fake instead.
“Why?” in my small voice.
He breathed heavily before answering.
“I… I just want to see you,”
“I’m busy this night,” I shook my head slowly.
He nodded and his shoulders dropped. I pursed my lips as I witness him being disappointed with my answers. He couldn’t even look at me while he sucks into his thoughts. I watched him take a deep breath and look at me.
I flinched from my seat as he turned to me.
He nodded.
“I understand,” he said with a smile.
“That’s good,” I found myself saying it half-heartedly.
Someone called for Forest. I immediately figured out the owner of the voice. He turned to her with a big smile. He seems pleased with her. That’s good.
“Excuse me,” he left.
The young lady ran to him and they all played some games while I only looked at them having fun.
For a moment it felt weird but I shrugged it off and was able to just look at them with indifferent eyes. Forest eventually never misses looking at my way.
To be continued…
