I stayed in my room the whole morning until lunch when they called for me. The Goddess hasn’t really given me clear signals for the past few weeks and I just want to make it clear. From what I see in Forest’s actions, something bad is happening. And I don’t want to say it yet. It creeps me out that there would be a possibility. I went out of my room and went to the dining room. They were loud even when I was far from the dining area. I breathed heavily and went inside. My eyes immediately fell at Forest’s stare. He seems worried and concerned. Why does he have to feel that way? He really doesn’t have to. I massaged my temple as I sat on my chair beside Mark. “Are you fine now?” he whispered making me flinch. I shifted from my seat and just nodded as an answer. We had our lunch and they talked about a lot of stuff. But I was quiet the whole time and as well as Forest who has been very attentive and observant of my every move. I tried to calm down as I saw Christiana approaching us. she can’t sense me being tense. Markus and Michelle already noticed it but I just shrugged my shoulder as my response for them. “Everybody is in a good mood,” I fixed my eyes only on my plate so I can’t get any eye contact with her. Unfortunately, she sensed it. Her hand softly brushed on my shoulders that I had to look up to her. She gave me a questioning look with a worried face. I lightly shook my head for her to know that I am feeling fine. She narrowed her eyes as she looked at me. I smiled with a bit of sarcasm to make her believe I am totally fine. But I think she sensed my tensed body. I only looked down and gave up when I knew in me that she’s convinced I am not fine at all. I mean, who would be fine when the wolf she’s gonna write its destiny is actually… I don’t even want to say it in my mind. It’s a constant haunt to me. I will never like this feeling. Christiana came to my chair and whispered in my ear. “What’s wrong?” I quietly sighed. “Nothing,” “You’re a bad liar.” “Just don’t mind me, okay?” I eyed her with a plead. I just want to at least enjoy my lunch without anyone bugging me because Forests’ eyes are already all on me. He’s starting to look worried and I don’t even like every bit of it showing into his face. I just really find everything immoral. As soon as I finished my breakfast, I excused myself. They all agreed. I think that was because they sensed I wasn’t feeling good. Before I left the table, they encouraged me with their nice voice but it never helped when I saw the concern in Forests’ eyes. I immediately made my way out. I don’t want to see him. I have this feeling. Everything is just so new to me and… wrong. Does he feel it too? That sense of committing a crime? Because what hid doing is a crime! It is against their law to love someone that is not chosen by the Moon Goddess for them. So, if they break that law, it might result in some serious punishments. I sighed as I arrived in my room and ran to my bed. I watched the plain ceiling. My mind went crazy after thinking a lot. I don’t know if they sensed something different from Forest. I mean, I immediately grasped an idea so, they also know something is strange in him. Because if not, I’ll be carrying this burden with me. I stayed in my room for a while when my door opened. I jolted in my bed. I only sighed in relief when Mark was the one coming inside. “Hey.” “Hey.” My eyes remained on the ceiling. When I felt my bed move, I figured that he sat already. “You don’t look good today,” I pursed my lips as I nodded, agreeing to what he said. Mark is the only person I can trust in this world. Nobody else. “I’m just overwhelmed,” He lied beside me. “I also get that feeling too sometimes.” “I want to go back,” “You’re getting pressured because there’s still no mate for Forest?” I closed my eyes tightly when he mentioned his name but immediately opened it when his gorgeous face flashed in my mind. I’m literally going crazy now. “You can say that,” As of now, the young witch, I already considered her as someone who might not be Forests’ mate. Damn it. He handed me something out of nowhere. My brows furrowed as I looked at the small bottle with dried flowers inside. “Tea, to calm your nerves,” I laughed. “I don’t need that, Mark.” He forcefully handed it to my palm and stood up. I rolled my eyes at him. “You look ugly so you need it,” I immediately stood up when he said his remarks. He even left with his insults! That man! I swear he learned that from me. I mean, wherein this world would he learn that from? It’s just me or me. I chuckled lightly realizing he’s starting to learn from me. I shook my head in disbelieve. He’s supposed to be the nice guy. Tsk, tsk, tsk. I was about to sit back on my bed when my phone rang in my pocket. I answered it when Marks’ name popped. “What?” [“We’ll go for a walk outside. You might want it, you know some fresh air.”] “Not interested,” I bluntly said. [“We’ll hunt.”] I narrowed my eyes. This guy really knows how to get me. “I’ll be down in two minutes,” I dropped the call without him saying another word. I swiftly put my pen in my pocket and went out of my room. I got so excited about the idea of hunting. I haven’t done it for months already. in Paredes, we do it for training and it’s the best part of training for me. But when I went outside to the porch my smile immediately rotted out. Of course, the Wolves are still here. What do I expect? I’m just so dumb to realize it now. I’d even bet that they were the ones who offered us to hunt. I want to facepalm at this moment. I walked to Markus, avoiding Forest who has been pleased to see me. But no matter what I o to avoid the dog, he simply just come with a smile that I forget to move. Damn this. Although, I am still proud of myself to give out my poker face. “You okay, now?” his voice is gentle. “Yeah,” then I moved away from him naturally. He still followed him and I can’t verbally complain about it! “We’ll be hunting,” “I know.” “They said you’re good at hunting.” I worked myself so hard to not look at him. But my eyes have their own action that cannot stop themselves from looking at him. Now, I get annoyed at myself. “I know.” The two other Wolves geared up with their sharp objects. They can easily hunt with their dog forms. Why would they need that? But they gave it to Sham, Michelle, and Jedi who looked amused by it. They don’t even know that these Angels know how to hunt. I smirked. Forest then handed me a machete which I only looked at confusingly. “You wanna use this?” I shook my head as an answer. “I have my bow and arrow.” I showed my pen which I can use to summon my weapon. He nodded like a kid which I find cute but immediately erased it in my mind. “Are you fine with me being your teammate?” he asked carefully. I can see the anticipation of my answer in his eyes. I looked at the others. It looks like everybody got their partners already. Sham with Mark. Jedi and Michelle respectively with the two other Wolves that I don’t know the names. I sighed. If I protest this, they’d be curious about my reasons. My shoulders dropped and nodded at him. I looked at his reaction attentively. It only surprised me when he didn’t even look pleased with my answer. He nodded slowly as he swallowed hard and avoided my eyes. I was taken aback by his reaction. He didn’t like my answer? I thought he would like it. “Alright, everybody. The first one to get a wild pig wins!” Jedis’ partner said. We agreed to it and started the hunt. I let Forest take the lead since he knows the area here. I watched him on his back as we strolled in the forest. everybody ran for their lives as they started hunting while Forest did not even seem excited anymore I sighed as he looked bothered. He just continued to stroll around even without looking around the area to see if there are wild pigs. I stopped from my track as I spotted one just near us. I looked at Forest who is still walking. I bit my lip as I psst at him. He lazily turned to me which annoyed me suddenly. His eyes glazed up to me but it only was for a second when his eyes turned to the wild pig. He started to take off his shirt which I panicked. “I’ll get it.” “No!” I hissed at him making my voice quieter. “You found it, I get it. Teamwork.” I pursed my lips when he tried to unbuckle his belt. Seriously, he’s going naked. “No, we can just hit it, Forest.” I avoided my eyes when it was only his boxers left. I licked my lips and panicked. And the pig immediately noticed us which it ran for its life. Great! “See?” my voice rose. I massaged my head. He saw my annoyed face. Guilt just crept in him which I also regretted. “I’m sorry, Nav.” I sighed heavily. “No.” “I’ll catch a big one next time,” he started putting in his clothes. “It’s not your fault, Forest,” now, I’m starting to get confused in this situation. “If I just listened to you, we could’ve got that pig, you know.” “No,” I don’t understand why I kept insisting it’s not his fault. Normally, I would lash out to him. “I’ll get you one myself.” He smiled. I massaged my head. Damn this man! “Tell me,” He turned to me with his curious eyes. “Yes?” I gritted my teeth when I find myself teased by what he said. I swallowed hard. “You didn’t like me being your partner.” The side of his lips rose to make a smirk but his eyes showed a different emotion. “Shouldn’t I be asking you that, Nav?” “What?” my brows furrowed. “You don’t like me.” it came out of his lips calmly. I was taken aback by what he said. I pursed my lips. I couldn’t answer him. He even said it as if he was so sure at what he said. “You noticed everyone had their partners. I was the only one left without one. You had no other choice but to settle for me. I noticed it.” “It’s not like that Forest.” “Don’t pity me, Nav.” “I’m not!” He ignored what I said. “Either way, we still need to win. Let’s go, Nav.” I breathed heavily. He turned his back on me and started to stroll already. I felt problematic without saying this to him. “I don’t hate you, Forest.” He stopped from his steps and slowly turned to me. I breathed heavily again. “But, I also don’t like you. I just want us to be civil with each other.” I sighed in relief as I was able to let go of those words. I watched him attentively. He nodded with his eyes closed. When he opened his eyes, he smiled. His eyes smiled with him. But it felt different, unsure. “Understood, Nav.” “Sure?” “Yes, let’s go?”     To be continued…
