Chapter One
“There are tales of a creature whose hunger of desire is so strong; many are willing to give up their lives to the vixen.”  Anthony Ricci rolled his eyes at Derrick’s overly dramatic words. He sat on the arm of his couch, watching his friend tap at his phone screen while pacing the living room.  “How long will this take?” Anthony asked, “I have to get to work in the morning.” Derrick looked up, “You actin’ like you have to leave your house to work.” Then he went back to flipping through his phone. “Why is it taking you so long to pick a d**k pic?” Anthony slid down from the arm of the couch to the cushion and stretched his legs. “It needs to look good.” His eyes lit up, “Got it!” Anthony shook his head and retrieved his phone from his pocket, “Finally,” he said as he unlocked the screen, “Let’s get this over with.” He opened his drafted message, and his thumb hesitated over the send icon. He was about to send a SEXT to a five-digit number to prove that a mythical creature would not respond. There had to be a better way. How could Derrick, a grown man, believe that sexting a succubus would work at all? The dumbass had to be on something Anthony didn’t know about. He looked up from his phone. “Don’t look at me like that. You know you want someone to fuck.” Derrick smirked at Tony and pressed his thumb down on his phone. Derrick had a point; he needed to get back out there, but not in such a twisted way. It had been over three years since his last, nasty breakup with the she-devil. It had been three years of surrounding himself with more and more work. Besides, his business had taken off without all the complications that come with relationships. Some womanly distractions are fun, but when it included selfishness and self-hate directed at him, it grew tiring. Maybe he could join one of those dating apps later. Get to know someone and bring them home. There had to be someone for him. But right now, he had to win a bet. Anthony pushed the send button. “If this works, make sure to-” Derrick crumpled to the floor. “Oh, s**t!” Anthony’s heart raced as he pitched forward with wide eyes and fell off the couch. He pushed to his hands and knees and inched towards his snoring friend. His body moved slowly under the heavyweight of sleep. Anthony grunted and fell to his side on the plush area rug. He reached out to Derrick, and darkness engulfed him. *** Jakira Mornami stalked through the hall, fists balled, and face grim. This was the last time Cina would get away with her games. The recruit could think she was innovative all she wanted, but filling the coven with humans, was never a good idea. She kicked the door to her office, and it blasted off the hinges.  Cina jumped from her seat and bowed, “Hello, Surgoni, how is-” “Don’t act like there’s nothing wrong!” Jakira yelled. Cina’s lips squeezed into a tight line as her eyes widened to keep her smile from pulling through.  Jakira clenched her teeth and lifted her lip into a sneer, “What did you do?” “I got us enough food to feed everyone tonight.” Jakira rushed the young succubus and snatched her up by the collar, “How?” She growled, less than an inch from her face. Cina finally let the smirk free on her lips and tipped her head towards the cluster of mirrors on the wall. Jakira looked at the wall and dropped Cina. Each piece of glass showed her people feeding on an abundance of humans. “This doesn’t tell me how you did this,” Jakira said as she walked to the wall, not taking her eyes off mirrors. Cina clapped and joined her boss at the wall, “It was easy,” her voice high in excitement, “I attached our summoning spell to a texting service.” Jakira pressed her lips into a line. Cina sighed, “Humans love their phones, so I used it to send them the summoning contract, and they send over a picture of their bodies to agree.” “Why are they here?” “That’s the best part, Surgoni. I changed the contract so they could come here and pair with someone that would give them the best night.” Jakira closed her eyes and took a breath, “How long will this work?” Cina frowned, “Just until morning or until everyone in the coven gets fed.” When she looked at Jakira, she still had her eyes closed. Jakira felt the barrier around the coven flicker. Another human had entered her territory. When she opened them, she found a water incubus standing at the entrance of the feeding hall. Lean muscle covered his turquoise body, and white, foamy swirls decorated his hand and feet. A naked brown-skinned woman appeared in front of him. He scooped her up into his arms and carried her into the feeding hall with a smile. “That leaves you and me,” Cina clapped and twirled. “It worked!” Jakira finally looked away from the mirrors to watch the pleasantly plump succubus spin around in her happy dance. It was an excellent feat for so many humans to agree to feed the coven for a night of pleasure. If nothing went wrong tonight, she would have to commend Cina for taking a chance. Jakira jerked her head to the door. Her skin prickled as the barrier wained again. Someone with magical abilities was in the feeding room. Jakira walked over to the mirrors. Two new men had arrived. “Go enjoy your meal, Cina. We will talk tomorrow.” “Yes, Surgoni.” Cina flashed out of the room in a small flash of fire and reappeared at the entryway. She held out her hand to the shorter man and led him away. But it was the other one Jakira was interested in.  The man looked around in wonder with beautiful brown eyes. He was still clothed, compared to all the rest that were here for the night. A white t-shirt, black jeans, and a pair of white tennis shoes didn’t hide his thick body. His eyes stopped on her. He couldn’t possibly see her through the looking glass. She left the mirrors and changed into some acceptable human clothes, no need to scare him with her armor and weapons. She took one more look at him and flashed to the entryway, behind him.
