The fall festival of the County Historical Society was just a week away, and they were getting the house ready for the event. A cleaning crew was hard at work, and Carlton and Eric were walking through the house with the two ladies from the historical society.
“You’ve done a magnificent job on this place,” Mrs. Pendergrass said.
“He certainly has,” Miss Maple said. “I love the way you’ve furnished the first floor with authentic period pieces, Mr. Perry.”
“Actually, they’re reproductions of period pieces,” Carlton said. “And even finding them took several antiquing expeditions to Savannah, Macon, and other places. On the other hand, I think the results justify the effort and expense.”
