Chapter 502019—mid August
The minute they arrived at The Folly, Eric changed clothes, grabbed a sandwich for lunch, and headed out to check on his crew. He spent the rest of the day going from job to job and was more than ready for a dip in the pool when he got home. Later that evening, he and Carlton walked around the second floor of the house, looking things over.
“We’re going to need a couple of child gates,” Carlton said. “One at the head of the stairs, and one at the entrance to the hall leading to two of the bedrooms.”
“Yeah,” Eric said. He pointed at the balustrade around the stairwell. “A baby could easily crawl through those openings. Maybe we ought to look for some kind of plastic mesh that could be tacked in place until the kids are older.”
