The thrill I felt budded and blossomed into fierce pleasure. The fact that Kane should be jealous of the friendship between Alastair and I should not please me, but somehow it did. Sitting on a low stool, I closed my eyes and replayed scenes of Kane this morning in my mind. His questioning me about Alastair during the picnic and the angry stare directed towards Alastair just now suddenly made a lot of sense to me. An unwilling smile curved my lips at the recollections.
