I read the text over and over. There were so many scenarios going through my head. The text was short and to the point.
Denton-We need to talk.
"What do you think it means?" Lilly asked for the millionth time.
"I don't know," I let out a shaky breath, "There's only one way to find out."
"Please Chris, don't go."
I pulled out my phone and shot Denton a text.
Me-Sure. Just tell me where.
Denton-The bar.
Me-Be there in ten.
I pull Lilly by the hip and kiss her forehead, "Be good."
I drive to the local bar and run my hand over my face.
Did that little s**t snitch me out?
When I enter the bar, I expect to see Denton pissed. That's not what I see. I walk towards him and take a seat next to him. He takes a drink of his beer and sighs.
"I f****d up, man."
"I don't follow."
