"Mom!" Anna suddenly exclaimed. She once again dreamt of her mother's death, all the blood and the way she was sprawled on the ground lifeless.
"Are you okay?" Commander Juan asked beside her.
They are currently inside a helicopter going towards their mission. They were tasked to check and evaluate the status of the other regions that the terrorists has yet to occupy.
"I'm okay, it was just a nightmare," Anna answered.
"Nightmare, in this hour?" The Commander exclaimed with furrowed brows.
"Is there any problem in having a nightmare during the day, Commander?" Anna sarcastically retorted.
She was never afraid of Commander Juan because she knew him. They practically grew up together because of the commander's father, who took her in when she was lost everything from that bomb blast but everything changed when his father died.
Commander Juan's father died fighting for their country.
He was his son during the fight, there were explosions, bullets and bodies everywhere, thankfully Commander Juan was able to escape.
"There is, specially if you keep on sleeping in the middle of a mission," he coldly answered.
Anna did not retort back, she doesn't want to have another argument with the man. They continued to ignore each other until an impact was felt inside the helicopter. All who were inside braced themselves and found themselves holding tightly to their safety belts.
"What's that?" Anna asked while peeking outside.
"They've spotted us!" the pilot roared from the front.
"Fvck! s**t! Contact the command center, tell them to send back-up," Sebastian barked at one of his men who was holding the radio communicator.
Another impact wracked the helicopter and because of that the safety belt holding Anna in place was unexpectedly removed.
"Lieutenant!" The others saw what happened and they simultaneously shouted in a warning.
Anna was not able to maintain her balance and was about to fall off but she was able to hold onto the landing skid of the helicopter. The sudden movement and weight caused the vehicle to tilt sideways.
She saw the vast ocean below but a hand that held her made her look up. "Hold tight," Sebastian was tightly holding Anna's wrist. The other soldiers inside was holding the commander's other hand to keep them from falling.
"Mayday! Maday! We need back-up!" The pilot frantically shouted at the microphone to alert the headquarters of their situation.
Sebastian tightened his hold on Anna to the point where his face had turned red and his veins started to bulge.
"We can't make it Commander!" The other soldiers notified Sebastian.
Looking inside, Anna saw only one possibility for them to survive, they needed to jump. "Then we need to jump!" Anna shouted.
"Have you gone crazy?" Sebastian exclaimed.
"I'm not Commander, if we want to live, then it's the only thing we can do. The water will cushion our fall." In that moment, Anna loosened Sebastian's hold of her hand and she fell on the ocean.
"s**t! Anna," Sebastian's eyes widened in shock at what happened."Follow us in the water," he looked behind him and instructed his men.
After Sebastian jump, another missile hit the helicopter causing it to explode together with their comrades.
After hitting the water, Sebastian immediately swam and look for Anna. "Anna!" He shouted in the hopes that she can answer.
He dove once again and scanned his surroundings until he saw Anna's body sinking fast. It looks like she became unconscious after she fell into the water. Sebastian swam towards Anna and hauled her up until they reached the surface. He hooked his hands under Anna's neck and left hand then swam towards the shore.
He carried Anna into a dry part of the shore and proceeded to pump her chest and administer a CPR.
"Anna! Open your eyes," he breathlessly said as he continued to pump Anna'a chest. He continued to do a CPR and talk to an unconscious Anna.
"Come on! Anna!" the commander started to get apprehensive as he saw no response from the lieutenant.
Anna's complexion is slowly turning pale the longer the water stays in her lungs. He once again pumped Anna's chest and performed a CPR until she suddenly woke up and spat water.
"Am I still alive?" Anna asked in a daze.
Sebastian let out a sigh of relief before he slumped on the sand beside her. "Yes you're still alive, Lieutenant. You have the courage to jump in the water but you don't know how to even preserve your life?" Sebastian exclaimed in exasperation.
"Because I know, you will save me." Anna whispered which she knew that Sebastian surely heard.
