“Oh my God, Lexi. What were you doing there with him? If I wouldn't have seen you walk by looking out of it who knows what he would have done.” Keenan yells from the driver's side of his car after he buckled me into the passenger side.
“It’s hot and my body is tingling. Like. Oh my goddess, are you my mate? Oh, am I my mate? I can make my body tingle too. Wow, the tingles feel good. Right Sierra?” I replied, feeling dazed. Whatever was in the bottle is now in my bloodstream.
“What? You know you’re talking out loud right now, right? What did he give you?” Keenan asks.
“Tequila! Oh hello seatbelt. Oh, it’s windy. Wait, roll the window up, we’ll catch a cold” I said.
“We’re wolves. We don’t catch a cold, and that’s not how you catch a cold..whatever. I need the windows down. Your arousal is driving me crazy.”
“Where are we going? To another party?”
“No. I’m taking you to a hotel. I can’t take you to my friends.”
“Hotel, motel, holiday inn..say what?” I sang.
“Go to sleep.” Keenan says, irritated. And being completely wasted, I closed my eyes to see the nice darkness.
Next thing I know, I’m woken up to the room spinning and being tossed onto a pillow.
“Stay here for a minute”, Keenan instructed.
“I have to pee”
“Okay, hold it for just a minute” he says.
“Nope” I say, trying to stand but walking into a wall. “Ouch.” I say as I try to sit back on the bed, but I don’t know where it went.
“OH goddess, where are you? Why are you on the floor?” Keenan says as he helps me into the bathroom. I use the bathroom, wash my hands and try to make it out. The room is spinning but I can make out the bed, I think.
“Keenan. Are you still here? I’m hot and the room has a lot of colors floating around talking to me. I think I’m my mate because I have never had anyone make my body tingle like my touch does. Watch this..” I said.
“Please stop touching yourself. I can’t take this.” He says, opening the window. “Oh god you don’t have on underwear. Here, please cover up.”
“Sexy Lexi doesn't need pan-nin-nies.”
“Sexy Lexi, huh. That ass definitely gave you a date r**e drug. Once you sober up some, I’m going to need you to give me more details. I need to know where to find him so I can kill him. Go to sleep. Continue touching yourself if you need to. I’m sleeping in the bathroom.” Keenan says, walking into the bathroom.
****
“Wake up, Sexy Lexi.” I heard Keenan and felt him shaking me.
“NO, the light is too loud.” My head is killing me and it feels like someone is making a high-pitched scream in my head.
“Too bad. You shouldn’t have drunk so much. We need to get moving, “ he says.
“Why am I here? Where’s Tia and Janet? Wait, this isn’t the dorm.” I said, finally sitting up and looking around confused.
“No, you definitely are not in Kansas anymore. How much do you remember of last night?” Keenan asks.
“Do you remember last night, Sierra?”
“Do you have to be so loud? I don’t feel so good.”
“Me either. I’m glad you’re here because I kind of feel like I did when that sedative was coming out of my system.”
“I don’t remember much, but I feel sick.” I replied to Keenan.
“Yea you should. Here, drink some water. You’re probably hungover,” he said.
“Hungover? That means supernatural liquor. I can probably make a potion to cure that. I just need a few ingredients. I kinda feel like I did when I was drugged a few years ago, though.” I say
“You were drugged before?” Keenan turns and asks me.
“Why don’t you have on a shirt? Man, you're pretty ripped."
"Focus Lexi!"
"Oh. Yes I was drugged when I was put on trial.” I replied.
“You were put on trial? Is that what your dad meant to keep you out of trouble? Do you do this often? Get drunk, take drugs and have s*x with randoms. And you’re wearing my shirt. I need to go get my things from my friends. That’s why we need to get going.” He replies and I look down and see I do have on his shirt which fits me longer than this mini dress. I climbed off the bed but stumbled and Keenan caught me before I fell to the ground. “Careful. So how did you get drugged?” he asks.
“First off, I'm a virgin. I haven't had s*x with anyone and am saving that for someone special. I don't have a habit of getting in trouble and don't even drink often. I was wrongfully accused and they injected me with some purple stuff that burned its way through my system and subdued my wolf and other abilities. Last night I don’t remember when I was drugged,” I answered.
“Last night you said tequila. Do you think someone slipped something in your tequila?” he asked.
“We were at The Den. I saw the bartender pour those drinks, then on the way to the house party we took a shot in the car”, I say, putting my shoes back on.
“You and that douche you were with last night?” He asks.
"Douche? Was I with a douche? OH. You mean Jared? No, I was in the car with Tia and Karyn. We all took a shot in the car,” I replied.
“You need to find better friends. Come on, let's get your things from there and get you changed. We’ll get something to eat and I just want to get back home before I go ballistic.” I nodded and followed him out the room.
We stopped by Tia and Karyn’s dorm room. They looked like they spent the night in bed together but didn't look like they were feeling as bad as I felt.
“See, I told you she'd find her way back. You were worried about nothing.” Karyn said, looking up as I walked in the door.
“Yeah, no help to you two,” Keenan says, walking in behind me. “Grab your things and hand them here Lexi.”
“Damn, I’m jealous. You ended up with him instead of Jared last night? Bet you had a blast riding that high out.” Tia said, smirking at me.
“Wait, you guys seriously drugged me to be with him?” I asked, shocked.
“Yea, and you’re welcome. You really needed to loosen up.” Karyn said, laying back down, pulling the covers over her head.
“Your friend almost r***d her,” Keenan said, anger seeping off of him.
“What?” Tia said, walking over to me now looking concerned.
“No, he wouldn’t have r***d her. He was tripped out too. He just probably was just a little more forward than what she was used to. After all you said she's unexperienced,” Karyn said, rolling over in bed.
“Lexi, are you sure he almost r***d you? I told him to be gentle since it was, your first time. Did he do anything to hurt you?” Tia explained, shocking me beyond words.
Keenan grabs my bag and pulls me out of the dorm before I can react. I can’t believe they actually put me in harm's way. I’m mad, I’m hurt, I’m disappointed.
“Calm down, Lexi, before you start siphoning. Not that those b.itches don’t deserve to die, but work on refocusing. We’ll go blow up some shyt before we leave if you like.” He says as we walk back to the car.
My head hurts. My heart hurts. I can't believe one of my oldest friend would betray me like that. Walking back to the car, I tried hard but couldn't stop the tears from falling. I'm so mad. I'm so hurt. I'm still feeling whatever was in my system and just want to throw up.
Keenan doesnt' say much as he ushers me into the car and drives a short distance from the dorm to a house and park on the street. He instructs me to stay in the car while he goes in and grab his things so we can leave.
As soon as he knocks on the door, a beautiful, tall, volumous, blonde female opens it for him, welcoming him in. Oh great, if I couldn't feel any worse I thought about how I probably ruined his weekend date. I closed my eyes, put my head in my hands, and started thinking about how horribly wrong this weekend had gone. Lost in thought, I was startled when there was a tap on the car window.
“Hi, My name is Mindy. I’m one of Keenan’s friends from his home pack. I heard you had a bad night. Why don’t you come in and get changed and have a bite to eat?” She says.
“Okay,” I said, not knowing what to expect. I grabbed my bag from the back seat and followed her inside. She shows me where the bathroom is and provides me with a towel and a wash rag, telling me it was okay to take a shower. I thanked her and immediately showered off the smell of the night before and changed into some clothes from my bag. I felt a little better walking out of the bathroom now that I had cleaned and had my clothes on.
“Thank you Mindy for allowing me to shower.” I said as I walked into the living room with my bag.
“No problem. You look like a different person now. Let me introduce you to my mate, Lisa. She has something that might help you feel even better. Keenan, how did you find this cutie?” She asks as I wave at Lisa.
“I’m her mentor. She was at that party last night. Her friends thought it would be fun to drug her.” He said, clearly still upset.
“So it wasn’t you teaching her your party boy ways? Here, drink this, sweetie. It’s some potion a witch put together for me for hangovers. I keep a stock of it in the fridge. It tastes horrible but should help.” Lisa says, handing me some toast and a drink. I tasted the drink and it definitely didn’t taste right. I go into my bag and pull out my bag of homemade tea. It's a simple detox tea I’ve put together including elderberry, nettle, birch leaf, wild pansy, and other ingredients, but I think this hangover cure needs more dandelion and burdock root which is in the tea.
“Thank you, but I think it's missing some ingredients and I can make it taste better. May I use your stove and would you happen to have some raw honey or maple syrup?” I asked.
“Sure, let me get you a pot. I sensed you were part vampire like Keenan, but carrying herbs around are you part witch too?” Mindy asks.
“Yes I am, but this is just a simple detox tea. Your hangover cure needs a little dandelion and burdock root in it. I just like to add honey or maple syrup to sweeten it up some so it’s not as bitter. Cinnamon won’t hurt and helps the flavor too.” I answered, pouring the ingredients together in a pot and heating it to a simmer. I pour everything back into the cup. Lisa takes a sip.
“Yes, this tastes way better. It's still bitter but it doesn't make me gag while drinking it.” She says, handing me the cup back and I down it. If made right in 20 minutes, I should feel it kicking in.
“Thanks ladies for your hospitality ladies. I’m going to put your bag in the car, Lexi.” Keenan said, and I just noticed he is now showered and changed. He must have done that as I was concentrating on making my drink. “We have to get on the road. It's already 2pm and it’s a long drive. Are you ready Lexi?” he comes back, asking.
“Yes. It was nice meeting you, Mindy and Lisa.” I said as I walked behind him to the door.
“Nice meeting you as well. Come visit next time you’re in town,” they said, walking us to the car.
We get in the car and drive off. I can feel Keenan is still very upset and the aura he's giving off is extremely intimidating.
“I’m sorry you ended up having to babysit me.” I said, giving my best pouty face, hoping to diffuse things. I still feel really bad about everything.
“That’s not what I’m upset about. Yes, what you did was irresponsible. Yes, you are extremely naive, too innocent for this world. What if I wasn't there? What would have happened to you? You need to pick better friends and not trust people as easily as you do. I’m just extremely frustrated. Last night was insane." I saw his hand gripping the steering wheel tighter. "You are a bit of a temptress when you're wasted. I need you to know this. I look at you almost like a younger sibling. And that's is f-ed up because last night I had to fvcking supress every urge to fvck my little sister. It was so hard and it was almost like I was being bewitched. I wanted to fvck the shyt out of you. Please don't ever put me in a situation like you did last night."
“I’m sorry. You’re right and I’m glad you were there. I’ve known Tia my whole life. I never thought she would be in a situation like that or even think of putting me in a situation like that. Here I’ve only known you for a few months...” I said, tearing up thinking about what could have happened if he wouldn’t have been there.
"I am never bringing you back here to visit them, so don’t f*****g ask me again.” He says, and the aura he's pushing forth is almost suffocating. I put my head on the window and allow the tears to fall. I know he is so disappointed in me.The car pulls over. “Come here,” Keenan says, pulling me into a hug. “It’s okay. I’ll be here” he says, rubbing my head and leaving a kiss on my forehead. He allows me to get it all out and once I’m done, he pulls back off to begin the drive home.
Without saying anything else, he puts a CD on and a Chumbawamba song starts playing. Keenan turns the stereo up probably as loud as it can go and starts singing, “I get knocked down, but I get up again, You are never gonna keep me down..” Perfect song for the moment and I can’t help my smile.
