They just graduated recently.
“Elvira is three months pregnant.”
Lily Sophia Turner was stunned, “That’s so fast.”
“She and her boyfriend have been together for four years. Marriage was inevitable.”
“I mean, how did Elvira get pregnant?”
Esther burst out laughing, “Are you serious? She and her boyfriend have been living together for a while now.
But Elvira really kept this secret well, hiding it from us for three months. We should really give her a proper celebration when she gets married.”
Lily nervously acknowledged and quickly went to pack her things.
Friday evening, Luke Oliver Thompson attended a banquet, and Henry had also invited Mellisa to attend.
Mellisa’s popularity had been rising recently. Several directors and producers were discussing upcoming TV series with her.
Her humble and serious attitude left a good impression.
Not far away, Luke was standing with Kevin, the heir of The Show Entertainment Company.
Kevin, with his handsome looks, was the complete opposite of Luke. Throughout the night, he had been winking at the female celebrities present.
As for Luke, many women admired him, but only from a distance.
“Luke, you seem to really like this one lately. You take her everywhere,” Kevin pointed at Mellisa.
Luke held a wine glass, “You’re overthinking it.”
Kevin teased him, “I heard you didn’t go home that night?”
“You sure know a lot.”
Kevin suddenly exclaimed, “What’s that on your hand? A bite? The wound looks old. What happened? Dog bite?”
Luke shot him a cold look and slightly turned his body. “Stop looking at me with those flirtatious eyes.”
“What? Did your sweetheart bite you? You’ve got some unique tastes.”
Luke casually put down the glass, “I’m leaving.”
“Hey, don’t go.
It’s rare to gather together. Let’s have a second round later.”
Kevin put his arm around Luke’s shoulder.
Luke removed his arm, “Not interested.”
“Tsk!”
Luke walked to the hotel lobby and unexpectedly saw Lily sitting in a corner of the sofa.
Next to her was a dark-colored bag, bulging.
Lily was dozing off. These past few days, she felt extremely tired and kept having dreams.
Either she dreamed of Luke or of a naked baby. One night, she even dreamed of a little kid calling her mom.
The dream had scared her awake, and she hadn’t slept the rest of the night.
She secretly checked online and found out that drinking alcohol wasn’t good for pregnancy.
This made her even more scared.
Lily was in a light sleep, and when she sensed someone looking at her, she squinted her eyes and mumbled, “It’s you!”
Luke stood in front of her, looking down with a faint smile, “It’s me.”
Lily was dazed for five or six seconds before she realized her casual tone.
She quickly stood up and greeted politely, “Good evening, Mr. Thompson.”
Luke squinted his eyes slightly, “Looking for someone?”
Lily was surprised to see him but understood.
Mellisa was now the company’s rising star, and her participation in such events would only increase, along with her interactions with Luke.
“Mellisa is flying to City D tonight. She left her charger and medicine at home.”
Luke noticed she looked a bit tired and asked, “Why did you come here? Why not go with her?”
Lily shook her head, her eyes flickering, “I’ve taken half a month off to go back home and take care of some things.”
Luke had seen her file. Lily’s hometown was in a small town north of City A. Her mother had passed away early, and her father, an artist, was often away.
She had attended City A’s top high school, lived with her aunt for a year, and then her aunt’s family moved to Canada. She then stayed in the school dorm.
He nodded, indicating he understood.
“I’ll have Henry call her out.”
“No.”
Lily hurriedly said, her face troubled.
Luke looked at her, pretending not to understand, “What’s wrong?”
Lily’s lips twitched. If Henry called Mellisa out, her position as an assistant would be in jeopardy.
But some things were hard to explain to Luke.
“Mr. Thompson, it’s no trouble at all.”
“I don’t think it’s any trouble. Just a phone call.”
Lily stayed silent, frowning.
Could he really not know her thoughts?
Luke’s serious demeanor made her angry.
“Mr. Thompson, can we pretend we don’t know each other, just like before?”
Lily was always straightforward. The more she spoke, the more flustered she became.
Lately, she had been very confused.
She told Ella about that night, and Ella had only said, “You’re crazy.”
Crazy for love.
Lily knew Ella didn’t really mean to scold her but was worried about her.
A well-behaved and persistent person going crazy was always unexpected.
From sixteen until now, Luke had been her dream throughout her teenage years.
The name she wrote in the most hidden part of her diary.
She had always thought he was someone she could never have, yet she didn’t expect to get so close to him.
She acted impulsively once and messed up her life plan.
In truth, she didn’t understand Luke at all.
She knew his family was wealthy, he was handsome, smart, and athletic.
He was always the most dazzling person in the crowd.
Maybe she liked him initially because of his looks.
Her high school teacher often said, dreams are essential.
At that time, her dream was to marry Luke.
A girl’s springtime fantasy, always unrealistic.
She clung to this unrealistic dream, worked hard, got into college, and later changed her major.
But a dream is just a dream.
Lily grew restless, “Mr. Thompson, I won’t disturb you anymore.”
As soon as she finished speaking, another voice came from ahead.
