Chapter One

1869 Words
"Your father and I have taught you how to defend yourself against one person with different tactics but today's lesson will be multiple people attacking you now it is only two of us here but we will not hold back like we use to." My mother proclaimed. "Okay, Mommy I'm ready." I said scrunching up my face being strong for them. If it were up to me I would be running from daddy's wolf hiding behind mommy so she could protect me laughing and having fun but daddy said my life will be hard and tiring so I have to be prepared. "Aayan you must focus son and remember you need to always listen to your Umoya he is inside you." My father said poking me in the belly making me giggle. My parents have been training me non stop since I could walk but recently they said they saw signs of my Umoya and have been training me harder "Okay Papa." I said nodding taking deep breaths I honed in my senses. Inhaling in through my nose and exhaling through my out I got into my fighting stance closing my eye. I could feel the eyes of the moon on my back watching me, anticipating something. It was a shift in the wind I felt something coming hard and fast towards my face at the last moment I ducked under it and I saw my mother throw her leg up aiming for my chest jumping high I landed behind them kicking my father's legs out from beneath him I then threw a punch at my mother which she dodged and I felt my feet getting swept from under me landing on my back hard I rolled over immediately running from my fathers attempts to grab me dragging me back towards him by my ankle my mother kicked me in the ribs. The air knocked out of me my young mind was running override on ways to escape kicking my father in the face I grabbed dirt in my hands throwing it in my mothers face I was back on the defense I ran putting distance between me and my parents they separated one on my left the other on my right I looked in both directions not knowing what to do as they closed in on me. Breathing heavily I dodged a thunderous blow from my father and jumped avoiding a kick to the head from my mother. Anyone watching would think they were trying to kill me and I knew if they hit me it would be detrimental to my young body, but my life was hard and this was a walk in the park compared to what was up ahead. Blocking punches kicks and anything thrown my way something new happened in my training both of them rushed me at the same time I was overwhelmed I couldn't focus on more than one thing at a time I tried to block as much as I could but eventually, I stopped trying the hits leaving bruises on my body the only thing left to do was curl up in a ball and cover my face. They stomped on my body I could feel my adrenaline leaving me the pain seeping in instead and just as I thought I couldn't take anymore. "Aayan get up!" My mother yelled. My father puts his foot on my back pushing my body into the dirt, I have never felt so defeated and embarrassed. I felt like I was nothing and I couldn't do anything to help my situation Mother telling me to get up made me feel even worse like I wasn't worthy of her words of encouragement. "I can't!" I cried out in frustration wiggling my body underneath my father's foot. "You can't or you won't?" Still struggling under my father tears of anger started to fall. "I can't Mommy! Let me up I don't want to do this anymore!" "You think people care about that? They will not stop because you are crying your tears will make them go harder now get up!" My mother screamed her voice cracking. "I hate this! I hate training! Daddy get off me! Why me why do I have to train so hard" My voice growing deeper. "You know why what have we been teaching you have you forgot? We must have been treating you with too much kindness because this world will treat you just like you are beneath them the dirt on their feet. You are nothing your body means nothing we can use you as we please your life is not your own you are Ukupela." My father whispered getting closer to my face but also putting more pressure on my back it felt like my spine was going to break in half. My tears and cries grew I was wailing under him his words felt heavy on my spirit I started to actually believe his words and believe I am nothing. "No! My son is a fighter, we have taught you enough to always figure a way out, to never give up let alone die on with your face on the ground like no one has ever loved you, cared about you! You are our child, my child and you will find a way to get free or this is the way you will die lying on your stomach with a foot on your back not even trying to free yourself" As her words washed over me a new type of feeling ran through my bloodstream. I could feel my body getting hot my muscles, veins bulging out and I strained to flip over on my back grading my father's foot and tossing him in the air. A loud roar ripped through my body I fell to the ground gripping my tiny head, my skin felt itchy, my bones ached, everything hurt I cried into my hands hating how much I've cried I'm supposed to be strong. "Momma!" I screamed. "Aayan what is-" as my mother bent down to touch me my skin started to bleed. I could feel the rays of the moon on me burning my skin. "Mahreen-" my father got close but my mind wasn't my own this skin wasn't mine alone anymore. "He is changing Aaquil." "If he is changing then we must bring our wolves forward to aide him." Distantly I heard them shift I was fighting to stay in my body an entity was trying to dominate me and push forward it wanted to take over, run this body until I was strong enough. I knew what was happening I had to prove to my wolf that I could run this body and we could function together, prove that we were worthy of such a dominant male Umoya. I allowed him to dominate me and push through my soul to take control of this body through the shift, I trusted him and soon he would trust me. The Umoya took possession of my mind first the splitting headache was soon replaced by wisdom and peace pushing me further into the back of my mind. Next came my body hair sprouting from my bleeding pores, bones cracking and rearranging, organs shifting this part took the longest and was the most painful and finally the joining of souls but I knew this part wouldn't take place until I became worthy of my Umoya. The moon reached its peak in the sky. The beast could feel her gaze he basked in her affection prancing around he let out a loud howl and took off into the forest his first hunt It seemed like the moon was following watching his every move. The beast stuck his nose up in the air catching multiple deer scents. Aayan perked up catching a scent further off, this could be his moment to prove to his wolf that he was worthy. His wolf was focused on a fawn that was sticking closely to the mother and other bucks near it. Aayan voiced his opinion to the beast, but the beast's eyes never left the fawn as he drew closer, Ayan warned the beast one final time that there was easier and bigger prey near. The best was sneaking up on the fawn and Aayan had just given up when the best jumped over the fawn scattering the herd. The fawn running right into his father as the mother came looping back his mother scared it away but nipping at its legs avoiding kicks. As the beast kept running I could feel my parents' confusion but they let me continue on my pursuit. The beast slowed its pace smelling that Aayan was right a sickly buck came teetering out of the bushes, not much life left in him as the best got closer and struck him fast snapping his jaws on the neck of the buck ending its life instantly. The best dragged the carcass closer to his den ready to share the meal with his small pack and shower in the praise of the moon. As he came out the bushes his parents yipped in excitement on his first hunt bumping and rubbing against his body licking around his muzzle tails high and wagging he dropped it looked up at the sky and howled with all his might. As his howl came to a close he dug into his meal his parents waiting patiently for him to get his fill and when he was done he stepped back allowing his parents to munch on his kill. "You did good little one"The beast rumbled in his mind. "When I first came out I found you weak and not worthy of Umoya. You had given up hope and you weren't using your head your fears clouded all rational thinking. I didn't want you, but after today you have proven to me that you think clearly and your strategies and tactics are there even with my conceited mind that I am beast and rule that form you've shown me that we can work as a team" My chest puffed up at his words. "But you must trust yourself and your instincts then and only then will I merge souls with you" I knew that my beast was meant for great things in the future and he wanted me to be the perfect fit for his destiny. Papa told me  If my wolf doesn't merge souls with me a body cannot hold more than one soul and it would be a fight to the death for one soul to remain and since I have given him full reign of the body. I had to somehow overcome my fears, figure out another way for my Umoya to merge souls with me the problem was I had no clue what I could do to show him that. words and their meanings at the end of each chapter I would pay attention to this part which may give some clues as to what is to come. -Umoya: the spirit which will be the wolf spirit and basically what we will call the werewolves -Ukupela: basically a spell or curse you will find out later on in the story
