Chapter Thirty-One

At the balcony of the thirteenth-floor hotel room, she stood in the freezing air, watching her fogged breath appear and immediately dissipate. The lights were off in the room behind her; the only light around her was coming from the hotel facing hers. The exact room she was watching had a light on, and was nearly empty. The occupant was fastening a red tie with an all-black suit. His hair was slicked back, short beard trimmed perfectly with a slight swirl pattern on his high cheekbones. That haunting feature, however, were those golden-rimmed red eyes. She monitored the long slender hands and fingers expertly twisted the tie around until it settled perfectly at the base of his neck. He seemed to do a double-take, make sure he was finished, then headed out the door. Light remained on.
