Gender role is a standard of the society in one person to one another. In 19th century, the folk often used to believe that men and women should behave according to their sexuality especially the women. They view women as a low class person and only men can do the things they want to do. Men should be the breadwinner of the family while women should bear the child that will held the last name of the family especially if these children are boys. Most people who believe that act according to your gender are those who's standards are nonsense. I mean, it is okay to have the standards but dictating and making people do what you want is not okay. Those beliefs think that there is a different between men and women wherein fact, we are equal before the law and after the law. Well, biologically speaking, men and women have a different reproductive organs but it doesn't mean that we are not equal. It is the society's standard to tell what women should do and what men are capable of. According to the beliefs of the people in 19th century, only men can go outside, can have an education, can have their life success while women can only do the kitchen job to feed their husband and children. Women should do the laundry, make the husband happy and bear the successor of family. Because of the gender stereotype of people, women are afraid to come out to their closet. They are afraid to be judge by the perfectionist society who did is to judge others because of their cheapness. Those judgment can lead to a fear because of the superiority of one's group of people or an individuals. This gender stereotype can lead to a misogyny and sexism. Gender role is like opposing and throwing hates towards women, those narcissist people will only use you to fed their egoistic self. And if you are in a low class, women should be the slave while men will do a labor towards the high class society. In politics, men think that they can lead because they are strong and they are the one who should be a leader of one society or the country. While women should not oppress men because they are weak. And if you against these people, they will make your life miserable. This gender role has similarity to the series I’ve watched. As I’ve watched the Emily Dickinson series, it tells me that there is an issue in a gender role of its individuals who only want is to live the life to their fullest. Emily Dickinson is a poet, she want to write because it is her passion. Her father did not let her have a pen in her hands because of thinking that only men can do that. He also don't let her have an education because she should've marry a man who have a good life to have a family. While his brother should have an education because he is a boy. They don't include women to have an education because they are women. She should've stay at home and do the kitchen job. It shows that there is also an unfair treatment towards women in terms of gender role. That if you are a women, all you can do is stay at home, wait for your husband to go home and do the married couple thingy. While men should find a women who can cook for him, who can hold a baby in her arms and become an slave of her own home. These privilege can lead into something that makes women inferiority. And because of the social construct of individuals who feel superior because of their achievements makes the people believe that men and women are not equal. And men and women will never be the same in terms of treatment. If there is no such as view as that, then there is no issue that will be tackled by people who open their eyes to see that because of our society, we should achieve equality by fighting for it when there is a law. That's why there are many people now empowered the equality of men and women. These beliefs changes through generation because they become aware that there is issue that need to give an attention. Some acknowledge this issue and especially that there are women who spoke against their right. Now that we invoke our right to help people to be not afraid to what society will say. They stands for their right and they did not chose the society's standard but rather their standards. Not all women want to married, not all women want to bear a child against their will, they're all want to have an equal treatment, let them be who they are. Men can be a feminine, while women can be a masculine too. Whatever they want to do let them be, whoever they are let them be. It is not you who can dictate their life according to your preferences. Since we are now in a 21st century, we don't need a validation of someone to tell whether they like us to be that or this. We are not a puppet of this society, we are the one who can control ourselves to choose what we want. We have the right to reach our dreams without the fear of judgment, we have the right to be a leader. The one who stands against the f****d-up beliefs are the one who is more than independent. You cannot let the guard down of a person who only do is to make her/himself happy without making people inferior to themselves. Let's break the cycle of gender stereotype because it has no good to every people. It only lead to a fallacious beliefs and downgrade others. Shame to those people who dictate the life and the role of each individuals to the society just to fed their interests.
