Chapter 5

Jaylyn’s POV Our late movie night had turned into early morning as one by one we all began to fall asleep with Dillan being the last. We had slept until midday with no disturbances. At some point during the morning, Jason had returned. Jess had perceived him first and scrambled to get up once she realized he was in the theater coming toward us. During her crawling and kicking to get to him fast enough, she had managed to step on my face waking me in the process. “Are we being attacked? Is it rogues? How many are there?” I rose in my alarmed state and took a fighting stance getting ready for the battle only to be confused by the silence that filled the room. All of a sudden there were four outburst of laughter. “No one is being attacked sis, there are no rogues!” He said in between breaths. He was bent over clutching his stomach making zero efforts to contain his laughter. “I’m sorry Jay, I didn’t mean to startle you.” Jess stated with tears streaming down her face. I looked back and the two love birds on the floor were also keeled over clutching their stomachs with teary eyes. “It’s not that funny!” I let out a frustrated growl. After about 10 minutes their laughter subsided. “I’m sorry sis, dad told me to come and wake you to get ready for our departure.” Departure? I looked at him confusingly. “What departure?” “The alpha of Black Moons pack is passing his title on to his son remember? All of the alpha kids have to attend.” Oh my goddess I had forgotten. We didn’t need to leave early because it was only an hour drive. That’s probably why no one woke us up earlier. “ If it’s only an hour to get there why can’t we leave in the morning?” I asked curiously. “I asked the same thing but dad says it’s customary to arrive the day before.” That figures. I neatly rolled and tucked my sleeping bag before heading upstairs. I hadn’t seen mum or dad yet so they were probably in dad’s office. I trotted towards my room to take a bath and relax. We were heading into enemy territory and there’s no telling what could happen. I threw in some bath bombs and honey scented oils. My body wash also smelled like honey, It was always my favorite. I stripped off my clothes and I caught my figure in the bathroom mirror. My dark brown curls were a mess as they stood in every direction. I chuckled at the thought. I had mums hair but dads full light brown eyes. My face was round but cute with a few scattered freckles. My lips were plump with the bottom one slightly bigger than the top. My body was thick in all the right places as mum would say. It wasn’t too much but it was enough for me. I was also muscular from the years of training with the boys. Once I was able to beat Beta Julius in a match, I was placed in charge of the warriors training. The only person I couldn’t pin was Jason. I just wanted to pin him at least once in my life. I sat in the warm bubbly water in an attempt to relax but my wolf was restless. “Hazel? What’s wrong?” “I don’t know Jay, something feels off like something big is about to happen.” “Is it any danger of some sort?” “No it doesn’t feel like danger, you should still be on the look out just in case though.” “Alright Hazel, I will.” I’ve learned on more than one occasion to trust Hazel’s instincts. Part of me wondered if it had anything to do with where we were heading to this evening. Considering that we were entering the territory of Alpha Anthony, I would always remain on my toes. I probably won’t even sleep tonight. We had heard that they don’t have wolves to patrol the pack lands. A pack should always be protected at all times with warriors at the front ready to take on every challenge. Attacks weren’t all that common unless initiated by another pack but letting your guard down completely was unheard of. Did they have that much faith in their reputation of being feared? That pack sounded as if they are ready to collapse at any time. Their structure was not strong and failed columns will bring a building down. I wondered if I would find my mate there. If I do then I’ll ask him to move to my pack because I wouldn’t be able live in such a place with an evil ruler. He was stepping down either way but no one knew what his son was like. There had been a glimpse of him from what I was told. Our wolves had been tracking and rogue wolf that slipped along the border but never entered the territory. When they had found him, they stayed a few yards away and out of sight as they saw a huge gray wolf walking in the opposite direction. They said his aura screamed alpha and knew it was his son since alpha Anthony’s wolf was all black. They had been trying to get the rogue because he didn’t appear ferocious like the other ones so father was going to allow him into our pack. However, the warriors report back that there was a mere torso on the ground where he had left. The rogues arms, legs and head, thrown in different directions. All of these thoughts ran through my head and as I pulled away I realized the water had gone cold. I got up and rinse myself off while draining the tub. I grabbed my towel and stepped out of the bathroom and into my room. I threw on a simple spaghetti strap dress that was white with sunflowers on it. My hair was still soaked so I dried it as much as I could with a towel and ran some hair products through it. I used a tangle teaser brush to try and tame my curls. By the time I was done, my hair hung down to my mid back and my curls were defined and shiny. I don’t wear make up because I don’t know how to. Jess always does her magic with blush and contour and all those other things while I sit there and pretend to be a mannequin. So I simply wore some clear lipgloss instead. I headed down stairs to the dining area to get some food in my stomach before it was time to leave. Mum had packed my bag while I slept last night and I was grateful but I had no idea what she packed for me to wear at the ceremony tomorrow. I trust her judgement when it came to dresses though. She bought the one I was wearing now and I’ve loved it ever since. After I was done with eating I tried helping dad with anything else that needed to be done. He told me it was fine and he could handle it himself or he would call Jase to help him out. Fine by me. I sniffed the air for Jess’s scent in an attempt to locate her but the scent lead to my brother’s room and I was not going to open that door. I still had about an hour left before it was time to go so I decided to listen to music instead. Many songs later, I finally got mind linked by dad to head towards the car out front. I didn’t understand why I felt so excited to enter their territory. My wolf had become more restless as well so I decide to stay vigilant for the both of us. After everything was packed and my brother entered the car looking flustered with a fresh mating mark on his neck. Dad smirked and patted him on the back, proud that his son had become a man. I laughed in the back seat but felt a pang of jealousy. I wanted my mate too. I put the thought out of my mind as we began to drive toward Black Moon’s pack.
