The Mate Who Chose Another As an omega life wasn’t meant to be pretty, in fact we were disregarded and left at the bottom and lowest of the lows of the pack. We were termed worthless, dirty, weak and only meant for one thing, and that was being a sec slave for the Alphas and Betas. We served no other purpose. But sometimes if one was lucky they would be used for hard labour and treated as a mere servant, and trust me that was more than luck. All omegas want is to find love, to find their mate and be happy, instead of being used for their bodies and baby producing machines. That would have been my life, if I wasn’t from the Red family in the Kalku pack. Even though we weren’t entirely rich or well respected I was never used as a slave or s*x doll but that didn’t save me from the rejection I’m facing right now. “I, Beta Dantrey Zane, reject you, Lilac Red, as my mate.” I stood there dumbstruck. I wanted to speak, to move but I couldn’t. “I need you to pack your things and leave my house.” My knees began to buckle, I could feel my wolf, lily, wailing inside of me. How could he do this to us? I could literally feel my heart breaking from the words he spoke. I finally broke out of whatever trance engulfed me. “You can’t do that to me, I don’t accept your rejection.” I protested. He scoffs. “Janice told me that you might do something like this, think you have an opinion….” He chuckled, as he walked up to me. He took a strand of my hair and twirled it. Lily wanted to claw out of me just to be by his side. “You’re an omega, the lowest of lows, the only reason I accepted you was because I didn’t want to be demoted to the omega level without a mate.” I gasped. “So you used me?! You faked every single thing? That can’t be true!” “Then why are you still a virgin? Why haven’t I f****d you yet?” He growled. I pulled back. He was right. Every time I tried to seduce him or get s****l he’d brush me off. So this was the reason why? “You’re a very terrible person!” I yelled, my wolf fumed in anger. How dare he use us?! “You should be happy I even chose you!” He grabbed my hair and pulled hard. “No one would have wanted you either way! I showed you what it was like to be loved! I cared for you and I never mistreated you ... .you ungrateful brat!” He pushed me to the ground and I landed hard on the floor. “Instead of whining like a lowly dog, you should look for how to make yourself useful. Now get out of my house!” I crawled backward as he spoke, fear gripping my entire being. How could he call three months of my life nothing? How could he be so heartless? I shook my head in protest. “I’m not leaving this house, we’re mates and you can’t just reject without a valid reason. My father…” “Your father is aware and I retired the dowry. So I own nothing!” He reached for my legs and yanked me hard. “If you won’t leave willingly, I guess I’ll just throw you out myself!” He dragged me through the room and to the door. My back scraped against the wooden floor and I could feel splinters digging into my skin. “Stop!! You’re hurting me!” But he didn’t stop, he kept dragging me across the floor until we got to the door. He kicked it open and flinged me out. “Don’t ever show your face here again, or else I’ll skin you alive.” “You’re doing this because of Janice right? You used me as a place holder and now she’s back, you think you can just toss me aside?!” I banged on the door. I was always the second option, the place holder, always the rejected one, the last one to be picked in a circle. I fell to the floor, shaking. “Please don’t make me go back to my father’s house, they’re going to kill me.” “I don’t care Lilac, just leave before Janice gets here, I’ll send your things to your house later.” He spoke from the other side of the door. If my father and brother sees me back in the house now that Dantrey rejected me, they’d kill me. This was their source of income, and now it was cut short. My wolf howled in pain. Mate, mate. I could feel her pain, her fear. Ever since I got mated to Dantrey and left my house, I’ve had a sense of freedom and peace of mind because everyday in that pack I was humiliated, insulted, ridiculed and abused by every single one of them. Being an omega was a curse I thought I had escaped from, but now I’m unfortunately going back to the bottom of the barrel. I sat on the floor of our cabin for hours, but he never came out to check on me or bring me back inside. He wasn’t joking, he was done with me. I wiped the tears that spilled from my eyes and stood to my feet. It wasn’t my fault I was an omega. It wasn’t my fault I couldn’t do anything but produce babies. I scoffed. I couldn’t even make babies for Dantrey. So that means I’m more useless than every other omega. I got to my fathers house and stopped at the cabin door. I could already smell the stench of alcohol from the house. He was already drunk, which was even worse. I slowly backed away, planning on coming back later in the morning. But the moment I took my third step back I hit something hard. A familiar smell invaded my nostrils and I immediately shivered. “You got yourself rejected? Doesn’t that prove just how useless you are?!” The source of the smell growled. Before I could react, he grabbed my neck and dragged me into the house. “Father! This mutt is back!” My brother yelled for my father. “Please, p-please let go….i’m too weak…” My father appeared immediately, a bottle of beer in hand. He looked at me with so much hate and anger in his eyes it made Lily quiver in fear. “I’m going to make you regret being born an embarrassment.” He threw the bottle at me and I wasn’t quick enough to dodge.
