I got the call from Alpha Brian; he was away on business, but he needed Jaxon to meet his daughter at 923 Crescent Lane, as something has happened that needs to be taken care of.  If Alpha Brian was calling me to have Jaxon meet his daughter, I knew it couldn't be good.  Alpha and Luna kept their children away for 16 years to keep Liam and Marena out of harm’s way, and away from the pack for good reasons.  They wanted their twins to have a chance to grow up human, without having to worry about the dangers of the enemies and rogues.  Alpha Brian told me, " They killed Luna and Liam."  My rage went from 0 to 40 in 3 seconds flat, Alpha told me to mind link my father his Beta James.  I asked Alpha why he couldn't and he said, "I'm in a meeting out of town with my secretary."  I knew that he had to make it appear that he was just human, and not a shifter pack's Alpha.  I immediately mind linked my father and told him, "Dad, our Luna, and Liam were killed.  Alpha Brian wanted me to tell you since he's out of town.  Yes someone is meeting to get Marena."  He received a mind link back from James, "Tell Alpha I will take care of the bodies."   Colton realized that today is Marena and Liam’s 16th birthday, the Luna and Alpha said after they told the kids what they really were they would be moving back to the packhouse.  Turns out only one of the pups would be coming to live at the house, he was happy she would finally be home, but he knew the pain she would be feeling once she arrived.  I couldn't help but wonder, did Liam and Marena ever question why Alpha was out of town so much, how did they not know they are werewolf shifters, wouldn't they still have their extreme sense of hearing and smell? 

    Jaxon called me 30 minutes later saying he was with Marena has been picked up, no evidence left behind, and they were headed this way and we should have a room made up for her.  What he didn't know is that I've had Marena's room set up the day I met her, she didn't know of course, but it was also the day that I saw that slimeball hurt her.  I received the mind link they were entering the gates, I saw Jaxon carrying this beautiful young woman out of the Escalade to the front door to the packhouse.  She had natural blonde hair with honey blonde highlights in her hair, she smelled like vanilla and honeysuckle.  Her skin a deep light brown, and I took in the curves of her body in all the right places.  My eyes drifted down to her closed eyes and I could see her piercing emerald green eyes the night she went on that date, I thought she saw me, but she never said anything.  My eyes transfixed down to her plump pink lips, I wetted my lips knowing the sight of her was making my mouth dry.  I mind linked Ryan to get his ass to the main entry to meet Jaxon.  I could hear Jaxon whisper softly to her, "Marena, sweet girl I need you to open your eyes for me.  We are here, your father should be here soon."  Marena stirred in Jaxon's arms and I wanted to punch him in the face for putting his hands on her, but I suppressed a growl from Cain my wolf.  I watched as Jaxon placed Marena on her feet, and guided her towards the house.   Jaxon introduced Ryan and myself to Marena, I couldn’t take my eyes off her emerald green eyes and the way her curves drew me in, I wanted to touch her and console her.

I had to mentally fight with my wolf, as I could feel him coming to the surface.  "Please be patient Cain, she doesn't know that we are werewolf shifters yet, and if I push it too quickly she will reject us."

Cain whimpered, softly crying, Mate...Our mate is sad.

I told my wolf, of course, she's sad she just lost her twin brother and our Luna for christ's sake.

    I spoke with authority and welcomed Marena to our home, I told her I wish it was under different circumstances.  She looked at me as her eyes turned glossy, I heard her say, "What a birthday, the two people I loved most in this world and they left me alive to wish I was dead."  "My father could care less about me, and I'm stuck with strangers who I know nothing about."  I stepped forward and told her, "I understand, my mother was killed a few years back and it's just been my dad and I living in this world."  Marena looked up at me and I could see she was suppressing the urge to sob hysterically, the tears were glistening in those emerald green eyes but she held her eyes and moved her beautiful blonde hair out of her eyes.  She looked at me then to Jaxon and asked, "How do you know my father, you both look like you are the same age as me."  Jaxon quickly answered, "We work on the side for your father we are both 18, and we got into security for the company."  Marena looked hesitantly and she said, "Oh ok, I don't know much about the company, my father doesn't talk to me much."  My heart was ripped out of my chest, our Alpha didn't care for her, what kind of fuckery was he playing while he was away, was that why he wanted them away from the pack?

    Jaxon could see my inner battle with Cain, he offered to show Marena to her room and told her she should rest until her father arrived which should be in the next few hours.  Marena shook her head and thanked me and Jaxon for coming to her rescue.  f**k I need to go for a run.
