Halen Plays a Joke

Halens POV

I am sitting in my room on the bench by the window, looking out and watching the birds play in the tree. I am relaxed and keep thinking about how frustrated I get around the guys. I don't remember if they think my invisibility is a good thing or not. I keep wondering if they would be able to find me if I became invisible. This might actually be a fun learning experience for them and me. I need to figure out a good way to test their ability to find me when I'm invisible. I can show them how valuable it really is to have me in the pack.

I am getting hungry, so I head downstairs to the kitchen and look for so.ething to male a sandwich. I settle on a grilled cheese, and as I get the ingredients together, I hear a noise upstairs. It sounded like a crash. I turned off the stove and ran to the stairs. I listen carefully but I don't hear anything else. I go back to the kitchen and finish making my sandwich. As I sit down at the table and start to eat, Michael comes in. He smiles at me and adverts his gaze. I ask him ,"Where's Dante?" Michael just shrugs and says,"Don't know, haven't seen him yet." Now I'm curious, what was that sound upstairs.

I finish eating, wash my dishes, and head upstairs to change my clothes.I walk past Dantes' room and hear him talking to someone, and Im wondering who. I hang outside the door and hear him say, "Ryder, I know she's our mate, but I don't know how she will take that bit of information. Of course I want to tell her but is it wise too? We don't know enough about her, and what about her ability? Is it safe?" What did he just say? I'm his mate? Why didn't my wolf realize this? Where is my wolf?

I ran to my room, I was too scared to look at Dante right now. I don't know what to think of what he just said. Mate? Well, I guess I can test my mate and see if he can sense where I am when I'm cloaked and invisible. I know what I'm going to do. I head back downstairs and run out the kitchen door. No one is around, so I concentrate and use my invisibility cloak. I wait at least 5 minutes, and then I scream as loud as I can, like I'm scared for my life. I wait, and it takes about 30 seconds for Dante and Michael to come running outside.

I watch as they look around to see if they can find out where the scream came from. I'm sure they know it was from me. Michael looks around , then looks at Dante and says,"I don't see Halen anywhere.". Dante looks mad and confused. He sniffs the air and turns his head towards my direction. I try to be as still as possible. He starts to walk towards me, so I shift over to the side. He must detect a change in the air because he changes his direction and heads towards me.

I watch with utter fascination how my "mate" finds me under my invisibility cloak. He grabs me by the arm and pulls me to him. He growls close to my face,"uncloak yourself, we need to talk." Michael smiled at me and shook his head. "You did it now, making us search for you, and you were invisible too." I look at Michael and ask,"Could you sense where I was?" He shook his head no. I swallowed and looked at Dante, realizing he was right he is my mate.

We walk into the house, to the kitchen, and Dante gestures for me to sit. When I do, he goes into the other room and comes back with some bourbon. He pours some in a tumbler for himself and Michael. He takes a drink and looks at me. Oh, he's angry. I look at him and try to start talking, but he holds his hand up forme to wait. Dante then proceeds to tell me that he needs to tell me something, and he wasn't sure about how I would feel afterward. I gesture for him to start talking.

Michael clears his throat and says to me,"Just hear him out. Then you can ask questions, ok?"I wait patiently, and then Dante tells me that he is my mate. We'll he just confirmed it outside, and hearing him say it aloud is a lot to take in. I look up at Dante, and I hear a growl and ask if that was his wolf. He clarified it was indeed his wolf, and he was just as furious. First, I left the house and didn't tell anyone, second, I had from him deliberately, and third, I act like it's no big deal. He is breathing heavily, glaring at me.

What I thought was funny apparently they didn't. Dante proceeded to tell me that being his mate comes with responsibility, and I need to stop acting like a child. This got my hackles up, and I glared at him and said,"What if I don't want to be your mate?" Michael and Dante both gasped, and I know I hurt his feelings, but he was being a jerk. I played a prank, and they can get over it. I walk by him and tell them I'm going to my room and not to bother me.

I get upstairs, close my door, and jump onto my bed. I put my pillow to my face and scream as loud as I can. How dare he talk to me like that. I'm not childish, I was testing his mate bond and see if he could find me while I was cloaked. I can't help it he got mad about me being outside. I decided to take a hot bath and forget about Dante being my mate, for now. I close my eyes and sink into the hot water, I'm relaxed, and then all of a sudden, my bathroom door bursts open. I gasped and looked up to see Dante, standing next to me and glaring at me.

Dante very quietly says, "You don't have to like being my mate, but you will listen to me. Do not leave the house by yourself. It is too dangerous. What if those rogues find you, what would you do? "What if we couldn't get to you fast enough? You need to think things out before doing them so you don't get hurt." He is so close to me, breathing near my face. If I turned my head slightly, I could kiss him. Would he pull away? or would he kiss me back? I won't find out because when I open my eyes, he is gone. Where did he go?
