Chapter 5

3553 Words
Ian Those turds had the recording of my escapade in the office and were now playing the damn thing on loop in the bar. At first I tried to act all proud, but my wolf seemed to be displeased. He was enjoying himself just as much as I was when we were doing the deed, so we not really acknowledging each other at the moment. Of course, after a couple of hours I tried to get the damn thing from them, ending up with three of us brawling in the bar until I was pulled off Nico by other members. The last thing I needed was for that night to come back and bite me on my arse. Especially, if whispers got back to the brides soon be husband, plus I had this strange feeling that I would regret it, which was a new feeling for me. Now, I just felt sorry for the brides’ guy. Jack had broken into my office after Kate told him I went missing for a couple of hours. It was her revenge after I stopped their little romp because she was sexually frustrated for the rest of the night. That’s what she told me over lunch, Kev had actually laughed and hugged Kate, who was just as stunned as me. I don’t even remember the last time I heard my brother laugh. I couldn't even be mad at my little purpled hair princess. She only had to smile and I was putty in her hands. Guess Jack wasn’t the only one wrapped round her little finger. I don’t mind though it's nice to have a little sister to protect. Jack was avoiding me like I was the plague, which was a smart move; pretty sure I’d deck the kid. I had stormed out of the bar, jumping on my bike and headed towards the coast. Parking up on the side, I headed over the dunes. Sitting on the beach, watching the waves roll in and then slip away, calmed my temper. I almost broke Nico’s jaw; Justin was going to kill me. I just couldn’t help myself, I saw red, and I didn’t think I was that angry. My wolf took control and the rest is history, on reflection I think I was just angry with myself and Nico took the brunt of it. No matter what I did, my temper would win me over. Don’t know why Justin trusted me so much with the second in command position. I lay back on the sand and hummed to myself, taking in deep breathes of sea air when it hit me. A potent smell. Wolves. Pack wolves. I sat up straight and just as I thought two wolves one in human and one in wolf form approached my position. “Looky here. A filthy rogue.” I growled. The man in front of me glared with the grey wolf snarling. I didn’t bother to move from my seated position. I knew by looking at them that they would never stand a chance against me, I scanned my surroundings to make sure we were the only ones on the beach. No allies for the two and no witnesses if I kill them. The dude in human form was lean with a narrow face and ginger hair, his shirt off, he looked like a tracker not fighter. The wolf besides him must be his muscle. “f**k off.” I couldn’t arse to deal with the two gimps. “Now, that’s not nice, Rogue. We may have to teach you a lesson.” They thought they could take a lone rogue, idiots. Looks like I’ll be teaching them a lesson today, never underestimate a rogue. I could blow off some steam, I smirked at them, and maybe it’ll do me some good. “You waiting for an invitation or what. Come on then, let’s be having you.” I waited for them to make the first move. “You got some nerve you piece of s**t, we’re from one of the strongest packs around, you’re fucked.” Packs, s**t, I that slipped my mind, couldn’t go all beast mode on them even if I wanted too. I had to think of my brother at the MC, their families and my friends. I was the VP, the Beta. I tensed. They thought that it was due to their threat. “What pack?” I tried to calm the situation. “Nightshade.” Fuck. I hate that pack. Their Alpha was a colossal arsehole. We had to jump through so many hoops to even get a meeting with him before agreeing to a peaceful alliance. The guy tried and I mean really tried, to be intimidating, but I have met a lot of Alphas, he didn’t even make it into the top ten scary Alphas I have encountered. “Alpha Cameron know you’re out hassling Rogues instead of whatever, you are doing. What are you doing?” They both growled at the mention of their Alphas name. “Keep our Alphas name out of your dirty mouth.” The shirtless man was starting to grate on my last nerve. “Look this is no man’s land, I’m free to be here. Got an issue tell your Alpha to contact The Rogue MC.” Man and wolf flinched. “That pathetic Rogue pack living in the human town, ha, not worth my Alphas time.” They tried to brush it off, but I knew they couldn’t act without their Alphas permission. “The pack with those weird twins. They should have been drowned at birth with them freaky eyes.” The man laughed, the wolf snickered, I rose to my feet. My rage lit up like a match and starting to burn. Those boys have been through so much, they were my brothers, and no one makes fun of my brothers. “No one would miss them.” Like a burning ball of fire rolling down a steep hill, my rage took over becoming unstoppable. My fist connected with the man, his nose splatted across him face. The wolf pounced aiming for my shoulder almost sinking in his teeth, but I was quicker. Grabbing him mid-pounce by the throat his jaws snapping to get to my face, but I was too big, they didn’t realise how big until I stood. I squeezed his throat tight, watching the life fade in front me, the man throwing a punch, catching his fist I pushed him back, in turn throwing the unconscious wolf at him as they tumbled down the beach. Both knocked out cold. The wind changed, another scent filled the air. f**k. Another wolf. I brushed the sand off me, smearing the red heads blood down my clothes. I opened my mind link to Justin, Kev and Jack. *Justin. Just had an unpleasant encounter with some Nightshade pack members. Heads up. Tell everyone to stay in the main house or at the bar, no one goes out alone*. *f**k Ian. What happened, where are you*. I told Justin about my encounter with the Nightshade Pack, including the comment about his sons. I could feel the angry through the link. *Should have killed them both*. His wolfs deep voice travelling through the link, no one threatens an Alpha wolfs pups. *Get back as fast as you can. I’m at the bar*. Justin cut the link. *Kev. There’s another wolf here. You know what to if anything happens to me right*. This was our ritual, three rogue brothers. We made sure that if we felt threatened we would open the link, for me the open link was for reassurance. I needed Kev to promise me that he wouldn't go feral and he'd look after Jack. That Jack wouldn’t seek revenge. For Kev it was to let us know that he may not return that he didn’t abandon us as most Rogues went it alone. Jack just hated to be alone. He hated the thought of us dying alone, he had nightmares constantly as a kid that we’d abandon him and he was forever lost. It was our way of telling the other we loved them without uttering the words, our own silent language. Most importantly to reassure Jack that no matter what happened he had brothers that loved him. *Scorch the Earth. Destroy the fucker who hurt you by killing everyone and everything he loves while I make him watch*. Kev deep voice filled my head. That is exactly what he would do with Jack in tow. I knew it. He knew it, but it wasn’t just us three on the road anymore. There was Kate, Nico and Nate, the MC and the innocents we took in. We had to think beyond our need for revenge and protect our own. We made a packed that not one of us would retaliate. We would grieve, survive and protect. *KEV. Seriously. All my info is in the club safe. The passcode is Jack’s birthday. You got this. Make sure Jack and Kate stays in the bar*. I hesitated. I wanted to tell him that I was going to be okay, but my wolf grew even more restless. Giving me a peculiar feeling that I couldn’t work out. Jack was silent, I knew he was worried I could feel it in our bond it was so strong. *Stay safe*. *You better come home Ian* Jack warned. I cut the link. I could feel the other wolf gaining on me as I ran to my motorcycle parked at the edge of the dunes. If I was caught I didn’t want them to feel anything through the link. The unknown wolf had probably raised the alarm that its pack members had been hurt by a Rogue and try to take me out before I get back to the MC. It was easier to take down a lone wolf than have to deal with a pack, even if we were only a small group. I could feel my heart beat rising. It was strange. I was nervous. I was never nervous before a fight, I relished and basked in the adrenaline, it sated my temper. The wolf was near. Faster than I expected. Hell it was faster than me. Normally only Alphas, not even other betas, were able to keep up with me. I was large, but my powerful legs gave me immense speed. It must be an Alpha. Fuck it was probably Cameron seeking revenge on the rogue who dared touch his pack members. I could hear its paws hitting the ground, galloping towards me like a hound out of hell. I could sense it was a large wolf. It was gaining on me. I didn’t have time to shift into my wolf to run and then back to my human form to get on my bike. I half shifted while sprinting on two legs. Holding onto my leather as my shirt tore to give way to my fur covered muscles as they bulged out. It wasn’t unusual as a Rogue to run; it was a survival tactic. I was born a Rogue. I had to learn what fights to hit head on and when to run. Flight or fight. This was different. Even after all those years of running from packs when we had accidentally wandered onto their lands, I had never felt hunted. From the first time in my life I felt like prey. My senses heightened. My wolf started to haze my thinking, what was going on. I needed to get to my bike. A werewolf is fast, but my bike would cover my scent as I ran home. Yet my wolf started to fight me, wanting to slow. It thrashed against me. We were out of sync. My pace slowed, but my heart beat increased. Something was wrong. A she-wolf. The scent strong. She was meters away from me. This didn’t damper my concern. Never underestimate a she-wolf. They may look smaller or weaker, but they are more subtle and cunning. I have seen many wolves underestimate a she-wolf and be killed for their mistake. *Stop…… Please*. A female voice entered my head, giving me a blinding headache. s**t. What was that? I didn’t recognise the voice as one of my members. *Please. Stop…... Wait*. The headache blinded me as I stumbled and feel inches from my bike scrapping my face across the gravel. Ouch. *Oh. No. Are you hurt*. I shook my head my heart going at supersonic speed, pounding loudly in my ears. I slowly shifted my weight to stand, getting up slowly not to antagonise the unknown wolf, never breaking eye contact with a large Auburn wolf that stood in front of me, closer than I liked. She looked bigger than any she-wolf I had ever seen, hell she was bigger than most males. Her fur was impressive, just a little shabby. Her eyes a dull black. She stepped closer and I snarled. What the hell were they feeding the females in that Nightshade pack? I felt pressure in my mind. Someone was trying to mind link me. I stood half crouched waiting to see what she would do next. *Please. I heard them call you a Rogue. I need your help*. I shook my head. Trying to get her out of my mind. “How are you doing that?” I shouted at her. *What?* “Mind linking me. Only pack members can do that or Alphas to allied Alphas.” I made a face as if it was the most obvious think in the world. *Oh. Sorry. I will tell you everything. I just need you to promise to help me first*. She scanned the surroundings. I tried to figure out why my wolf was so damn calm. “Why should I help a Night shade pack member when they just tried to rough me up?” I made a noise in disgust of the mention of her pack. *I'm not a pack member*. I narrowed my eyes. “You smell like them.” *Yes*. I waited for an explanation; time went by I guess she was finished with that particular subject. “Shift.” I demanded using my Beta command. The wolf hesitated, she must be a dominate wolf otherwise the shift would have happened instantly, yet she didn’t feel like an Alpha. I stretched my back and rolled my shoulders making myself look tall and imposing; folding my biceps over my chest making them bulge. “Shift and I may help you.” I scanned the area before hearing bones crack and a painful groan as the wolf became a beautiful little woman. She looked small enough to put in my pocket, so cute and adorable. Complete opposite to her mighty wolf. Who was this girl? “I'll explain who I am when we get out of here.” I looked at her simple. “And I'm not cute or adorable”, she rolled her eyes.” I'm fierce.” I was too freaked out to chuckle. Did she just read my mind? “Yes.” What the…. “Rude. Hey stay out.” The pressure returned as I opened the mind link. *Ian. Alpha Cameron came to the bar. He’s looking for some girl*. My eyes fixed on the naked she-wolf. The girl raised her hand placing her index finger over her lips making a hush gesture. I looked at her stunned. Did she just listen in on the mind link? She nodded her head. Who was this she devil? She chuckled. Her brown eyes glistening as she tucked her shiny brown hair behind her ear. *Told him to suck my d**k after what his pack members done. The douche apologised, it was a glorious sight. This girl must be important. He’s asked us to keep an eye on the town and no man’s land as well as our territory. I agreed. Reluctantly*. I could feel Justin's wolf was pissed. I was in a dilemma. Since being part of the MC, Justin and I shared everything. We were close. Not only as Alpha and Beta or President and Vice, but we were brothers by the MC bond, there weren't any secrets between us. He knew more about me than Jack, thank goddess, because that s**t would use any bit of information against me to form some sort of epic prank at my expense, he was just like a big kid. I knew I should have told him that the girl Alpha Cameron was looking for was standing in front of me begging me with her puppy dog eyes to keep her a secret. What surprised me is that I did just that, I kept her secret; I never uttered a word about her presence. *Okay Justin. We will let it drop this once, but next time I'm killing them*. *Agreed. Are you alright? Your brother mentioned another wolf*. *False alarm*. The lie came easier than expected. *Get back to the bar*. The mind link closed, Justin ladies and gentlemen, the wolf of many words. “Thank you.” She wrapped her arms around her body and shivered. It wasn’t cold; the shiver must have been through relief. I pulled out a pair of shorts and a t shirt that I stored in my bike and threw them over to her. I studied her further. There were bruises littered on her body and red rings around her wrist. The reason for her shabby wolfs coat. Apart from that she looked healthy, young, maybe only 18 years old. “Thank you, Ian.” She smiled at me. She looked dazzling. My clothes way too big for her, she could fit four more of her in my shirt alone. “Who are you?” I was still sceptical. “My name is Petra. I need your help.” “No s**t. Alpha Cameron is hunting you?” It was meant to be a statement, but it came out as a question. “Yes.” I waited for further information that she clearly wasn’t going to give freely. “Why?” “I can’t tell you, not yet.” She smiled, but it didn’t reach her eyes. I just accepted her answer. “I could have killed you.” I climbed onto my bike. “but you won't Ian. I know that for certain.” Petra smiled. “You know for certain.” I chuckled. She was cocky. Even though she had a big wolf I could have killed her. “Yes. You could have killed me. Well maybe. I'd give you a run for your money, but I know you won’t kill me because I'm the one that's going to help you with your wolf and maybe your mate. So be nice.” My face fell, my wolf howled. My world spun fast. “My mate? What are you on about? Where’s my mate?” My wolf grew impatient. “All in good time Ian, very soon in fact. We can’t discuss it here. Let’s go.” “, but why.” I whined. I wanted to know about my mate. Where was she? What does she look like, smell like, feel like? I will never move from this spot until she tells me everything. I almost threw a full on tantrum. Petra laughed. “Because we need to get out of here, it’s not safe.” “Oh.” Yeah. The wolves on the beach were probably coming around. I handed Petra the spare helmet and brought my bike to life. “You promise to tell me everything about my mate.” “I’ll tell you everything I know. Remember Ian, you have to hide me, the fewer the people know my whereabouts the more people that will be safe.” For a kid she was annoyingly right. “The bar it is then.” She climbed my bike moulding her small body to me without an ounce of fear and I headed to the club. It was early afternoon and I knew the bar would have only a few MC members, I’d get Petra into the office where she can explain herself and how she can do freaky tricks like mind read, most importantly she can tell me everything about my mate. I pulled in opposite the club building, behind a black fancy car that was probably worth more than my club yearly takings. “What are we waiting for?” Petra whispered into my ear. “Alpha Cameron has been here looking for you, I’m making sure the coast is clear.” If I was him, I would have left a couple of wolves in the human town to keep surveillance. Petra tensed. I could see vehicles approaching, they would see us, and it would look too suspicious if I told her to put her helmet back on. I turned to Petra, flung my leather jacket around her shoulder, enveloped her in my arms, covering her body and kissed her. Her body shook from the contact and something surged though her. I felt something ignite where our lips touched. What was that? I had no time to think about what was going on with her; I kept her lips on mine and my eyes on the vehicles as they zoomed past pulling in across the road, not taking notice of us. Suddenly I felt something tingle of my lips. Could that have been, no surely not. Sparks?
