Michael
“Ready.” I nodded my head and got into the car. Forgetting about my bursting bladder. We drove to the town. My mind fixated on the piece of leather in my pocket, my palm itching to touch it.
“So ... how about tomorrow”? Cam ran his hand over my thigh as he drove, squeezing it slightly to gain my attention.
“Hhhmmm”? I jumped.
“The fair? Date”? I fiddle with my fingers.
“Look Cam. It's just I know some pack members will be there. We are both Alphas from a different pack. We need to think about the packs.” He removed his hand. His face darkened with anger. Then settled at stoic.
“You are right. Handsome. We should keep this between us until we figure out what this is. I enjoyed myself, a lot. Tonight. I can honestly say I haven’t had this much fun in a long time.” He smiled at me.
“Me too Cam. You're hot.... I mean it was hot. I really enjoyed.” Embarrassed I looked out the window.
“I like it when you blush. You are hot by the way.” I brought myself to look at him as we headed towards my parked car.
“How about we go to the human fair next week? When the novelty has died down and it’s starting to pack up.” I nodded. “Tomorrow we can go to the theatre. My treat. Food at a different place seeing as you couldn’t help flirting with the pretty werewolf in Pepe’s.” I rolled my eyes making sure be never saw me just in case I'd get punished.
“Who was I flirting with?” I was genuinely confused.
Cam growled.
“That bloody clumsy waiter.”
“No I was not. He was young, too young for me.” I was shocked.
“Whatever. You were flirting.” He gripped my hand. “I don’t like it.” His hand tightened. It started to feel uncomfortable.
“Okay okay Cam. I'm sorry. I didn’t realise I was doing it. I didn’t mean to.” His grip loosened.
“Fine. I just don’t like sharing.” I snorted.
“Cam this is our first date. Sure we fooled around, but we haven’t got there yet. You know being possessive.” He slammed on his brakes. Lucky I had my seatbelt on.
“Michael. I don’t like sharing. Even if we are just dating. You understand.” He stroked the side of my face. I felt a little uneasy. I didn’t want to fight. Even though I had the upper hand on the beach I knew Cam had been going easy on me.
“Yes. Cameron. I understand. No flirting until we figure out what this is.”
“No boys full stop, Michael.” He stared at me waiting for me to agree.
“Fine.” I looked forward. “I need to get home. We need to talk boundaries. 1. No coming to pack lands unless of business. 2. No telling anyone of our activities. 3. No hard feelings if this doesn’t work out, pack business is pack business and separate from our s*x life.” Cameron c****d his eyebrow and smirked. Nodding he added “4. Tell someone on our packs where we are at all times. 5. No other guys. 6. You will answer every text or call from me immediately.”
I frowned. “What if I'm busy?”
“You will text me to tell me that.”
“Cameron be realistic.” He glared at me.
“Every text or call. Otherwise I'll tell my pack that I'm dating you. They will gossip and it will get back to the human town. Then your pack.” He was dead serious.
“That's breaking rule 2.”
“Michael. I will worry if you don’t get back to me.” Cam looked at me with doe eyes.
I stared at him. He was worried?
“Within half hour.” He looked serious.
“What if I'm sleeping?” I didn't like this conversation anymore.
“Then you tell me before you go to sleep.”
“What if I accidentally fall asleep?” I wasn’t letting his go.
“Put your phone on loud. That'll wake you.” Cam was being serious.
“Cameron. No.” I crossed arms over my chest to show I meant business. “I'm not doing that. I get busy so do you. We are Alphas.”
He signed and growled. Scaring me slightly.
He looked at me my reaction written all over face. “Fine. It is not a condition, but you will promise me that you will try and text or call me or answer when I do. Or I'll worry.”
“Yes. I will Cameron. I promise. There’s no need to worry.” We pulled into the human town and towards my car.
“Before I forget. Did you manage to find your missing she-wolf?” Cameron froze and his anger suffocated me.
“No. Not yet.” He was deflated.
“Will she be okay?”
“I hope so, she’s very precious to me.” There was something in Cameron’s eyes, but it soon passed as his mysterious mask donned his face.
“Who is she to you?” Curiosity got the better of my self control.
“My....cousin. she’s family. I'm afraid for her. I have scouts out everywhere. Hopefully she'll get picked up before something happens to her. She’s very confused, she been saying these crazy things you know, I thought she may be losing her mind, her mother is worried about her.” He looked at me. “If you see her. Don’t speak to her just call me. She may be a bit...loopy.”
I nodded. “Okay. Well thanks for tonight Cam.” I proceeded to get out the car. Walking over to my own when I heard footsteps behind me.
“You forgot something.” Cam pushed me against my car and kissed me in the middle of the street. I pushed back and checked the surrounding.
“Cam!!” I hissed. He shrugged.
“Goodnight handsome.” He winked and walked back to his car. He waited until I pulled off.
A mile from my pack I pulled out the leather strap with the buckle, running it through my fingers.
Who did this belong too?
Finally, I had made it back to the pack house and was in desperate need of a shower before my head hit the pillow. The sand had managed to get into all types of places. I walked through the front door quietly. It was still early morning and I didn’t want to wake anyone. I only made it to the first floor when I noticed Derek, Danes father who happened to be one of my close friends, approach me. Being a warrior I wasn’t surprised to see him up.
“Off on patrol?” I smiled as I passed him.
Derek answered me with a grunt and passes me to go down the stairs without delay.
“Jeez someone must have woken up on the wrong side of the bed.” I shrugged my shoulders and continued to climb the stairs unfazed.
I knew I was grumpy when I started patrol easy morning. I just shrugged it off. I really needed my shower and bed. I could get in at least 3 hours before training. I managed to get rid of the sand and jumped on my bed. As soon as my head hit the pillow I was out like a light.
The morning made me feel groggy and was unwelcome. I managed to find my shorts and vest. I wandered to the kitchen to pick up some fruit or whatever was easy for me to swallow on the way to training. Emily, a young warrior was sitting in the kitchen with some orange juice in front of her. She was a quiet girl. I liked her and I knew she had a bit of trouble from some of the older girls. Never in front of me or anywhere are me as I hated bullying. Ems had reassured me she could handle herself.
“Hey Ems. How you doing?”
“Oh. Hi. Michael. Yes. Good. Thanks. Just getting ready for training.” She looked lost in thought.
“Hey. You okay?”
“Yes. Sorry. Just need to get my head in the game.” She gave a genuine smile and we walked to the training ground.
We were all lined up and Riley was our main trainer today. He was his would you say it, mean. He pushed up to our very limits and by the end I was starting to get tired. My lack of sleep did not help. Some of the less dominate wolves had passed out or sat down through exhaustion. Riley kept of screaming something about not resting on a battle field. I was the future Alpha. I was going to be the last one standing. We finished off with one on one battle with the wolves left over. That included me, Zeke a warrior, Derek, Gareth one of my mates who was training to be a warrior, Macey another warrior and Emily. Emily may have been quiet, but she was determined and stronger than she looked, she would make a great Beta one day. At the moment there are a few contenders with Beta blood on my pack, including Lip. She is in the top three.
I was proud of her.
We were paired off. Derek was lead warrior so Riley paired him with me for our one on one. We entered the training circle and started circling each other. Derek sneered at me and I met his stare. I started to calculate his weakness, predict his moves. I had to win. I am future Alpha. Each one of us started to throw punches and kicks. Derek had landed one successfully on my upper chest and my heavens he knew how to throw a punch. I didn't let it show that it had hurt. I moved and landed a kick on his temple which knocked him to the floor. A circle of people had gathered. We weren't holding back. I noticed Emily had taken down Gareth and was now watching us.
The fight started to get intense. Not one of us yielding to the other. Derek was a seasoned warrior. Top warrior. He needed to show that a pup couldn’t take him down regardless as to whether I was future Alpha. I on the other hand needed to show him what kind of Alpha I was becoming. Strong and powerful, enough to protect the pack, even in human form. I flipped and landed on top of Derek punching him hard enough to draw blood. He wrapped his leg around my torso and pulled me to the ground. Swinging, but missing.
“Well Derek are you going to let this pup win.” Riley was baiting him from the edge of the circle, making Derek angry.
Derek growled. “Never. Never let you beat me.... useless c**k sucker.” The last part had been so quiet only I and possibly Riley heard him. Riley frowned, but didn’t say a word. I heard him mutter something and I was almost sure that he said faggot. But he would never insult me like that, would he? I shook my head. He was trying to get into my psyche. That's why he used those words. For that, I was going to tear him apart, but the anger had distracted me and he landed a punch to my jaw. I knew I'd feel that tomorrow. He didn’t stop the assault, but I knew he was coming. I kicked him full force in the chest, harder than I meant and sent him flying across the training grounds into the stands.
“Shit.” Riley cursed and ran after him. I got to my feet and noticed Gareth’s look of disgust. I hadn’t controlled my Alpha wolf.
“s**t. Derek. I'm so sorry.”
Riley placed a hand on my shoulder. “Hey you went with instinct and to win.” He smirked at me then winked.
“That was awesome.” Emily whispered in my ear, grinning. Others had run over the help Riley with Derek. I felt guilty. There were whispers, but no one dared look at me. Accept Arlo, who was smiling ear to ear, he winked. Zeke patted me on my back.
“You’re going to be a strong Alpha.” The huge man smiled at me, his dark skin glistening with sweat, Macey must have given him a run for his money. Derek had heeled and stood in front of us. His face flushed with what I thought was pain, but once he saw me he placed on a mask of indifference.
“Got a lucky shot.... Pup.” He held out his hand to shake mine. I took it wanting to put the whole thing behind us. It was training after all. “Next time you won’t be so lucky....” He squeezed my hand tighter and a look of disgust shone on his face that quickly washed away when Riley had made a joke. Everyone was congratulating me on my training session. Derek turned to me, “Hey about what I said. I was just trying to get in your head. Find a weakness, not hard feelings.”
I nodded at Derek. “Yeah. Sure.” Truth be told, was a little sensitive about it all as I was yet to gauge the packs reaction. I knew my dad would have filtered it down instead of making an announcement, after I didn’t think it warranted one. No one announced they were straight or bisexual or whatever they wanted to be. “Don’t tell your father.” The last bit confused me.
“No, of course not. All said in the heat of the moment, right.” He nodded. I walked over the Emily and made small talk about training before heading out for a late lunch. She confirmed that she beat Gareth’s scrawny ass which made me laugh because she looks so innocent saying it.
I looked over to Derek and Dane who had moved to the other end of the training ground. They both gave me the stink eye and left. Guess I made Derek's day worse by beating him, don’t know what else his problem could be.
I headed to my room to take a shower, I thought my mind would wander to Cam, but I couldn't get rid of the feeling of unease and my wolf needed to touch that stupid leather strap.
