Chapter 20

The Great Escape

Hannah

Hannah did not sleep a wink after Mimi was taken. She did not think that Paul would harm his niece. But after what he pulled trying to kidnap Mason and selling him she did not know what to believe.

She only wanted her baby girl back. Hannah spent most of the night trying to call Paul. He was not answering her calls or her text messages.

"Hannah?" Mason calls out to her as he touches her arm making her jump. She was nearly asleep.

"Huh?" Hannah mutters as her phone falls from her hand to her lap.

"Why don't you try to rest" Mason worries over her.

He was human once more.

"I can't rest. Not until she is home. Mason I should have listened to you. Paul had bugged my phone. He bugged my home" she groans.

"I already took care of all that. I found where he bugged it" calls out Nathan as he shows Hannah the hidden equipment that had been rigged in her home.

"Thank-you Nathan" she sighs.

"I am sorry this happened to you Hannah" Nathan remarks. Mason nods.

"We will get Mimi back. Safe and sound" vows Mason.

"I hope so. I only wished I had listened to you both sooner" sniffs Hannah.

"Hey we will not let you down" Mason promises her as he holds her to his side.

She wraps her arms around his neck. Tears flow from her eyes. Had Paul killed her husband? What other kind of shady dealings was Paul into that she did not know about?

Had Carlos known?

"Mrs. Tolsen called me. I better go help her but I will come right back here okay Hannah?" Nathan asks her as he looks down at his phone.

"Go. I will be fine" Hannah vows. "Please please explain what is going on to her for me"

"I will" Nathan vows as he heads out the door to go to work.

"I am taking off work today. You need me" Mason declares as he holds her close.

"No do not do that on my account. Go to work. No point in worrying along with me" she sighs.

"I want to. You need someone here" he worries.

"No, I promise I am going to be okay" she says.

"Alright. But promise me when Paul calls and he will be in touch with you make sure you call me at work right away. Got it? Do not try to go see that man alone" warns Mason.

"I won't" she sighs. "Mason do you think Paul killed him? Think he could have killed his own brother?" asks Hannah.

"He admitted to me he had. Right when he was taking off with me. He did it for money. He is into something. Something dangerous" warns Mason.

"Carlos knew the whole time" Hannah sniffs.

"He must have to have Paul gun him down" Mason explains. Hannah nods.

"I never thought this could happen to us" Hannah moans. Mason holds her.

"Nathan and I will do all we can to keep you and Mimi safe. We will get her back. And Paul will pay. He will go to jail" Mason remarks as he holds her.

"I hope you are right" she sighs as she rests her head on his shoulder as he holds her.

He pulls her back. Gazes into her worried eyes. He kisses her forehead before heading off to work. He looked like he did not want to leave her there. But he knew she was right. No point in him being there when there was nothing to be done. Not yet.

Hannah sighs as she sits back down in her couch. It was all her fault she let that rotten bastard take off with her baby girl. Now it was her job to get her back. Tears came to Hannah.

She let Mimi down. She let Carlos down by letting his killer take his daughter to. She had to make things right. How could she be so dense? She was furious with herself. Someone text messages her. Nathan.

Mrs. Tolsen says to contact her when Mimi is home safe. She sends prayers. Nathan.

Thank you. Hannah.

Any word? Nathan.

Nope. Hannah.

Hannah sighed. Looking at her phone ten million times a day was not helping her either. Plus it was going to be dying soon if she did not charge it soon. She walked over to her kitchen counter. Plugged in her cell phone to charge it. There.

She turned up the volume on her phone so if Paul did choose to call her she could hear the call. There was a photo of herself and Mimi over beside the tv. She picks it up. That little happy face smiling at her. Would they ever be truly happy once more? After all the heart ache that Paul had caused on their family? Was it possible to be happy again?

Hannah found Mason to be very charming. He had stuck by her side in wolf form all night. And this morning. Nathan had to. But there was something about Mason. She was so drawn to her. Did he care at all?

Or would he push her aside if she confessed her feelings for him? Should she just stick with Nathan? He was sweet and caring to. She hated the idea of hurting him. Her phone snaps her out of her thoughts on the two brothers. Someone was calling her. She scrambles over to answer her cell phone. It was Paul!

"Where are you?" she gasps as she answers on the second ring.

"Mommy?" she hears Mimi say.

"BABY! Are you alright?" worries Hannah.

"I am fine. Uncle Paul got me McDonalds' for breakfast" Mimi brags to her.

"Baby let me talk to Uncle Paul. Right now! I am so happy to hear from you. I love you" vows Hannah on the phone.

"Mommy I love you to. When am I coming home? I am missing school? Uncle Paul said he was baby-sitting me. And he had not meant to scare me last night" explains Mimi.

"I am sure he never meant to scare you baby girl. You will be home soon. Please let me talk to Uncle Paul" demands Hannah.

"Hannah?" Paul suddenly remarks on the other end.

"Paul where are you?" Hannah demands to know.

"I want you to meet with me. But I have my demands first" he tells her.

"What would that be?" Hannah wonders.

"You will meet us here at midnight. I want you to capture those wolf brothers for me. Bring them to me. I will trade you them for Mimi. Then I will take off. You will never see me again" he promises her.

"You are crazy Paul. You want me to trap my friends? And give them over to you?" she gasps.

"They will sell for a pretty price. I know buyers on the black market buy exotic pets. I am in debt with a lot of things. This will pay off my debts" Paul explains. "You want to help me right Hannah? You owe it to Carlos little brother"

"I do not want to be into anything you are into Paul. I will be there. I will see what I can do" sighs Hannah.

"Get me those wolf brothers. Or I will leave tonight. And you will never EVER see Mimi again" warns Paul angrily.

"Paul please don't do this! I know you are still the good person I always thought you could be. Please do not do this" begs Hannah on the phone.

The phone call gets cut off. He was gone. Tears come to her. She did not want to give her guys up to that bastard. There had to be another way. She was going to keep Mimi safe. She was going to keep her friends safe to. And get rid of Paul once and for all.

Tears came taking over her body. Fear consumes her soul.

"Hannah?" she hears Mason say softly behind her.

"I thought you were going to work?" she asks him when she turns around.

"I could not leave you to deal with this alone. You are not alone. I am here for you" he promises her sternly. He pulls her into his arms. She could not give this sweet man to that monster. No way. There had to be another way to get Mimi back.

"I heard from Paul" she whispers.

"What did he say?" Mason demands to know.

"He said if I capture both you and Nathan in wolf form, and bring them to him he would give me back Mimi. He wants to sell you both to the black market" she explains. "He said something about debts. That it would pay off his debt once he had sold you both"

"Oh Hannah" sighs Mason.

"I will not sell you. Nathan either. I would rather die than to sell you to that bastard" she grumbles.

"Let him try. In fact....bring us along. We can all handle Paul once and for all" Mason remarks thoughtfully as a smug smile spreads over his handsome face.

"I don't want to take a chance on something happening to you or Nathan either" worries Hannah. She touches his cheek with her hand. He kisses the palm of her hand.

"Sweetheart, he is used to dealing with humans. He is not used to dealing with werewolves. It is about time we had some fun" chuckles Mason looking amused.
