Annie retied her pony tail and tried to ignore the heaviness in her limbs. There was so much to get done. She had to keep moving. Jobs that she had managed to put off over winter could no longer be ignored, and she was the only one around to do them. Her mum had been gone for three whole months. Three months of not having to worry about her running into Lucas. Three months free from her mum’s heavy burden of grief. Three months of knowing her mum was in a place where she could rest and heal, which must have been working given how badly she seemed to have lost track of time. And three months of trying to run a sheep farm on her own.
