Chapter 13 Annie’s Guardian brooded for about three hours. All she saw of him in that time was a brief appearance when he came out of his room to call his mum. He told her that he was having car trouble and that it might take a long time to fix. There was a pause, where she apparently offered to come and get him, but after a few drawn out moments of thinking about it he told her not to worry. He wasn’t willing to leave without his car anyway so it wouldn’t help. Annie took that as a good sign. When the sun got too hot, Annie moved into the kitchen and made some sandwiches.
