Brendan's POV
It took me a lot less time now because I shifted into my wolf and ran towards the capital. It was Selena who called me and that itself told me that something was not right.
And the fact that the only sentence she told me was that Yasmyn needed me. That was when I concluded that there is nothing in this world that could stop me from going to the capital pack and be there for my mate.
The gates at the borders lifted up the moment they noticed my wolf. I did not stop running until I reached the palace.
Adi looked at me, wide eyed. He looks a little better compared to the last time I saw him.
"What the actual f**k are you doing here?" Adi asked me, as he looked at my wolf.
I caught Yasmyn's scent and ran upstairs. Since it's a palace, I can roam freely. Because the normal houses are too small for my big wolf to roam comfortably.
The mark on my wolf's neck glowed when my wolf was standing in front of Yasmyn's room. I contemplated walking in. For some reason, I don't feel good. I don't feel like things are right.
"Get in," Selena said and I turned to look at her.
"I called you for a reason. Get in and see things for yourself," Selena told me once again.
My heart and my wolf's heart were racing as Chase pushed the door open with his snout.
And our hearts stopped beating for a moment, when we saw her.
She was on the bed. But with wires all over her. Those wires are connected to monitors that we usually see in the hospitals. She is breathing. I can hear her calm and steady heartbeat.
But she is not here right now. She is in her dreamland. She is unconscious and I can understand it just by looking at her.
"An Alpha waged a war against her," Selena filled me in and I couldn't do anything, other than staring at Yasmyn.
I am afraid if I blink, I might lose her.
"It was fierce. But she killed him," Selena told me and a small smile danced on my lips.
That was the same reason I rejected her. I wanted someone who could fight. And she killed an Alpha. I was an utter i***t.
"But she lost a lot of blood in the process. And the last strike of the Alpha before she killed him, was the silver knife straight at her heart" Selena told me.
A Silver Knife at heart is dangerous. Of course that brought her here.
I shouldn't have left her side. I should have been here and helped her in any way. I should have never let her stay here when I know there is danger all around her.
I caught his scent and turned around. Silas was standing, as he looked at me wide eyed. Probably wondering how a wolf is here in Yasmyn's room.
I growled at Silas. I trusted that he would keep her safe.
"I can explain," Silas said.
I pounced on him without a second thought.
He can explain to the devil in hell.
