Brendan's POV
The breakfast here is s**t compared to the food I had back in the capital pack. Or maybe my mood is s**t ever since I came here so I am not really into anything.
Ravi, my newly appointed Beta stood at a safe distance from me. I changed the one who previously worked because he was an ardent Andrews Rivera follower and i didn't want anyone like that around me.
"So what all happened while I was away?" I finally asked Ravi when we were both on our way to the Alpha's office.
"A lot, Alpha. But mainly, your father tried to claim his title back because you weren't available. Many people accepted that but changed their decision when you came here with Her Majesty," Ravi told me.
As expected from my father. He wouldn't let go of any opportunity that would make him stand in a place where he is above me. I even wonder how he gave me the Alpha title when he loves it more than me.
"How good are you with secrets, Ravi?" I asked my Beta and he was slightly confused before nodding his head.
"Pretty good, I must say. I talk only when you want me to, Alpha" he said and this is exactly why I appointed him as my new Beta.
Ravi and I grew up side by side and he is the warrior's son. He is great in combat skills too. I believe he has got everything in him to be the best Beta and I do trust him too.
We reached the Alpha's office and I sat in my chair. It's really been a while and the chair feels like home. I remember sitting here even before I took the title from my father.
He was always busy and out. I never doubted what he would do but after my mom told me what all he did to her, I stopped wondering. Maybe he deserved the way Yasmyn is going to treat him now.
"I want you to gather as much information as possible, on the scientist who worked in our pack's labs two decades ago," I told him and he bowed to me.
"Is there anything else, Alpha?" He asked me and I thought about it for a while.
"No. That is it for now. But this is between you and me. Am I clear?" I asked him and he bowed to me once again before leaving the office.
Meanwhile I got back to work. There are way too many reports that need my attention.
Even through the work I cannot help but wonder what Yasmyn could be doing. I hope Silas is with her because he is the only one who can protect her right now. For some goddamn reason he knows too much about what's happening around her. But as much as I trust Ravi, I trust him too.
There was a knock on the door and I yelled for them to come in. But I groaned as soon as I caught the scent of the one who walked in.
"Good morning, Alpha. How do you like the pack?" Erwin smiled as he walked towards me.
He bowed to me, and stood up straight. I wish I could strip his title off but my father apparently granted their family the rights to the Gamma title for the next two generations.
Things like that happen very rarely and somehow happened here.
"What do you want?" I asked him, coming straight to the point and he chuckled.
"Why are you angry at me? All I did was look out for the former Alpha. Like you should too. Tell me your blood is not boiling hearing the fact that he is in the capital pack's prison right now, probably getting tortured for something he didn't do?" He asked me back and now I am intrigued.
"First of all, kindly don't waste your and my time telling me what to feel and what not to. And secondly, what do you know about what he did and what he did not?" I asked him back with my eyebrows raised.
"Because I know things more than you. You can count on me on several secrets that you don't know about. I know things you probably never heard or saw," he said.
What rubbish.
"Like I said, don't waste our time and get to your work. You are the Gamma and I am the Alpha. We have our own things to do," I told him but he did not budge.
The audacity!
"If you put your mind on it, you can still get him out of the prison and back to the pack. The Queen to be is your mate after all. You do have on your fingertips, right?" He asked me and now he crossed a line.
"I am going to rip your tongue off if you utter another word about her," I growled at him and he raised his arms in the air, and took a step back.
"I was just asking, okay? No need to get all emotional over a girl. You are acting just like how he thought you would. Like an emotional fool," Erwin said.
That made me think for a second there. He wasn't this way when I went to the capital pack. For sure I did know that he was my father's follower and would probably jump into fire if my father asked to.
But something changed.
"What do you know?" I asked him and he laughed, as he sat on the chair before me.
Where is this confidence coming from?
"Like I said, I know more than you know" he said and thought for a second before telling me something that made me fall at a loss for words.
"For starters, he told me how your mother had an affair?" Erwin told me.
This is not happening right now.
"Why did he tell you all of that?" I asked him, coming straight to the point.
"Because he is also my father. My mother is his mistress," Erwin smirked.
Fuck.
