Yasmyn's POV
I narrowed my eyes at Colton as he walked in, with a smile on my face.
"What are you doing here?" I asked him and he looked at Brendan, probably wondering what he was doing here.
Brendan's face changed the moment his eyes met Colton's. I imagined a situation like this but I didn't think it would arrive this fast.
Brendan then looked at me with a straight face and bowed to me one more time before turning around, to walk out of my office.
"Stay," I whispered, making Brendan stop dead in his tracks.
He didn't turn around to look at me though. He just stopped walking.
"I want you to stay," I whispered again and this time, he turned around with a small smile dancing on his lips.
"So this is the man I've heard about? Your mate?" Colton asked me and I already know that he knows about Brendan.
If he chooses drama, then I will choose the same too.
"Yes. Also the Alpha to the pack you used to trade crystals. Remember?" I asked Colton and he chuckled, as he gave Brendan a subtle nod.
"Can I talk to your mate in private for a second, Alpha Brendan Rivera?" Colton asked Brendan.
Before he could answer, I meddled in and held Brendan's hand.
"He will stay. Whatever it is, you'll have to tell that to me before him," I said.
This is not because I don't want any secrets from Brendan or whatever. I mean, that is a reason too but a minor one.
But the major one, is that I know I am not safe here anymore. If someone can slowly poison a strong personality like Adi, I will be their much easier target.
I don't want to fall down before I uncover the truth. So I need someone close to me at all times. But Brendan is leaving. I need to appoint someone as the Beta as soon as possible.
"Well," Colton smirked,"I'll just talk about it later. But for now I want to see my good friend Adi. Who would poison him?"
Of course Adi and Colton had a close relationship. It was Adi who arranged the meeting with Colton and his brother in the first place.
It's a given that he is here to see my brother.
"I don't know. That's what I should find out about. And maybe you can help me," I told Colton.
"I definitely will. If this didn't happen, I would be dealing everything with Adi, which would be much easier. I want to know the person who made things hard for me. A punch in the jaw is waiting for whoever it is," Colton said.
"But before that there is something I need to tell you," Colton smiled as he took one step closer to me.
"What?" I asked him, in a tone that prompted him to stay back and not take another step further.
"Well, I came here because Silas asked me to," Colton said.
Now what the actual f**k is Silas doing?!
