Chapter 1

Aurora

            Ok, how do you tell people that you are like a werewolf but you aren’t at the same time? Let me tell you it is not easy, my kind are Lunar Wolfs for the girls, boys well I have not met any of them. All of the boys born in the pack do not have a Wolf form, they just carrying the genetic gene. First if you get bitten by me you will Not Turn Into A Wolf you have to be born one. That also includes getting scratched it might get infected and will be sore for a while. Second silver we have no problem with it, most of us wear silver every day just to prove it to ourselves. (It’s very funny when we watch a movie and they say silver is our weakness.)

            I am running. Not sure where I am going. All I see is what looks like water but it isn’t. I can feel my legs moving me but it does not feel right. Wait a minute I am not in human form I am in Wolf right now. I stop running and look at myself in what looks like water. I see a grey wolf with the hunter’s moon with what looks like flames around it on my forehead. The moon is kinda the same looking, like the one from sailor moon. But it has the flames all around it. The grey eyes looking at me but I know it’s just myself in the reflection.

            “It is almost time to awaken little cub.” Something around me said.

            My head shots up and I look around me but I do not see anything but water. I can feel myself tense up, because I do not know where they are if it’s a they. I try to pinpoint where I heard the sound but I cannot find it.

            “Who are you and what do you mean awaking” I yelled looking around.

            “Soon you will find out little cub, soon. But right now be ready for it, because it will come faster than you expect it.” Said the voice somewhere around me.

            “Tell me! I want to know, tell me please” I yell.

            I can feel myself getting stressed out. My fur is starting to stick up and I can feel I am about to cry. I hear all around them saying “soon little cub soon”. I start moving my paws trying to go where I am hearing them but I can’t seem to get there.

            All the sudden I open my eyes. I start to look around and realize I am in my bedroom. I feel tears running down my face and I try to wipe them away. But I stop and look at myself and see I am in wolf form. Great I hope I did not rip my sheets again.

            I can see the sun has not came up yet. I look over to my alarm clock, and see it says it 5:02 in the morning. I growl to myself for waking up so early in the morning. I plop my head back down on my pillow, and close my eyes hopping I will fall asleep again. But I cannot seem to go back to sleep no matter what.

            I growl to myself again and start getting up, I know I will not be able to go back to sleep. I slip out of bed and give myself a good shaking it always feels good doing that. I understand why dogs love doing it. I start getting ready to change back into human form.

            I can feel the magic in me starting to work. I look at my tail and see what looks like white sparkles start to form. They have the color of the moon and they start moving to my legs. I see my tail disappearing and my human legs showing. It takes about ten seconds for me to become human again. I get up from the ground and walk to my dresser. (Whenever I go back to human form, I am in the clothing I was before I turned into wolf.)

            I grab my school uniform and change out of my pjs and put on my uniform. The uniform is a nice deep brown with a grey ribbon. I am right now wearing the summer one, because I have one week of school left. It comes with a short sleeve top with a bow and a long skirt. The skirt goes past my knees I love it.

            I turn on my bedroom light and look at myself in the mirror. I can see myself in my uniform and I just smile. I look at my forehead and see my moon mark that I saw myself in the dream. Every Lunar Wolf has them which happens to be only girls born with them. I pick up my makeup brush and start to cover my mark. My mark is still grey because I am still a cub until I turn seventeen.

            My skin is pale color which it a little harder to hide my mark. But I have been hiding it for years now on my own. Most people think I am Dutch but I am not, I am well wolf but I do not tell them that. I just tell them I am not sure I think my mom is but she is not sure either.

            I brush my hair and put it into a dark brown wig that goes down to my mid back. My real hair is grey mostly I have dark grey tips in my hair. It goes only a little past my shoulders. I color my eyebrows to the same color as my wig so that way it looks like mine real color. Next I grab my contacts and put them on my eyes because my eyes are grey as well. The contacts are hazel because that was my dad’s eye color before he died.

            I take one last look in the mirror before I go to the bathroom to finish my chorus. When I finished I can hear my mom getting up (love having very good hearing for being a wolf).

            “Morning mom how was your sleep?” I said peeking my head into her room.

            “Morning Aurora I slept very well, how was your sleep?” She said stretching.

            “Well I woke up being in wolf form again and woke up an hour before my alarm clock.” I said to her before going back to my room to turn my alarm clock off before it goes off. Then I made my bed and happy to see I did not kill my sheets.

            “Did you kill your sheets again or are they safe this time.” My mom asked poking her head into my room with a smile on her face.

            “They are still alive not killed yet” I said smiling to her.

            My mom smiles at me she has long almost golden color hair that goes a little past her mid back. Her eyes are green with a little blue in them I love the color of them. I just hope my eyes will turn that color when I become an adult wolf. She walks to the bathroom to put her hair up into a bun most of it. She always leaves her bangs out until her bun is done. Then she wraps them around her bun to make it look beautiful. The tips of her bangs is also more golden color then the rest of her hair.

            Just like me she also has a wolf form but I have not seen it I think. She puts on the make up to cover her mark. Her mark is white and it makes a lot easier for her to cover then mine.

            “I see that you also woke up early today too” she said finishing putting on the makeup.

            “Yah I’ve been having this weird dream for the past week” I said poking my head into the bathroom.

            “Oh want to tell me about it?” She asked looking at me and putting down the makeup brush.

            “I will tell you once we eat something because I feel like I can eat a whole deer right now.” I said smiling.

            She laughs and start heading to her room to get changed. I start heading down stairs to get breakfast started. I start cooking some eggs and some bacon. Then I put some bread into the toaster and get that started. I put some milk into some glasses for us then put the dishes onto the table. When I am almost done cooking the food I see mom coming down the stairs al dressed. She is humming the song that I been hearing since as long as I can remember.

            “You are humming the wolf song again” I said smiling to her.

            “I know I am just hopping it’s going to be a good day at work today.” She sighed sitting down at the table.

“Uh oh I hope it’s going to be good day today for you at work.” I said carrying food to the table.

“Well they want me to look at the wolves in the zoo today and see how they like their new home.” She said grabbing some food putting it on her plate.

“I hope they do since you can talk to them.” I said grabbing some and putting it on my plate. (We can talk to wolves. The happy thing of being a Lunar Wolf.)

“So you were going to tell me about your dream?” My mom asked between mouth bites.

“Right” I said putting my fork down.

“I was running but I was in wolf form.” I started to tell her.

“It’s the form we feel most comfortable and free” she said smiling at me.

“Oh well that makes sense. Ok and then I looked down what I think is water but I am on top of it and see I am my normal self.” I said to her.

“You were born in wolf form” she said kinda smiling and looking at her food.

“Really I did not know that. Right back to the dream, I was on top of the water thing and it was all around me. Then I hear this voice saying it is almost time to awaken little cub.” I said and then put some food into my mouth.

“Oh that is great news to hear Aurora” she said almost jumping out of her seat.

“What does it mean mom?” I asked her.

“Ok so you know when a young wolf turns seventeen they become an adult wolf.” She said smiling at me.

“Yes and?” I questioned her.

“Ok, ok sorry the dreams happen two months before they turn seventeen. But yours started almost three weeks before you turn seventeen. The Awakening means when your fur turns a new colour, not the normal grey for the cubs colour. But a new one to show who you are in the Lunar Wolves. That also means you will be able to make the portholes back to Mother Earths Song. Our true home and not here in Canada.” She told me with a smile.

“Wow I would love to see where our kind came from, was I born there?” I said finishing eating.

“No you were born in between both of these worlds. I had to give birth to you in wolf form. Your father was so happy to see you, when you were born he almost cried holding you.” She said with a sad smile.

Talking about dad is still not the happiest topic to say for her. But I just smile and drink all of my milk and start cleaning up the dishes. I put the dishes into the dishwasher and grab our lunch kits out from the fridge. I put mine into my backpack and put moms with hers. I look at the time and see it is almost 7:00 am and put on my shoes.

“Well it’s time for both of us to go then, love you and see you after work Aurora.” She said giving me a kiss in my hair.

We walk to the door and I see at our fence is my best friend Kaida. She has long almost black hair and very blue eyes. Her father is part Japanese but all she looks more her mother. She has her father’s hair but her mother’s eyes. She does not look at all part Japanese more English. Her father is a police officer. They been our neighbor since kindergarten when we moved here.

“Morning Aurora, morning Rudina” Kaida said smiling.

“Morning Kaida” My mom and I said at the same time.

I walk to my best friend and give her a morning hug. She hugs me back and starts walking to school. I turn around and give my mom a nice loving hug and a loving smile.

“Have a good last day of school Aurora, and will you be putting your hair the same again this evening?” She said hugging me back.

When it is just the two of us I always take off the wig and let my real grey hair down. I tie two ribbons into my most front bits of my hair, and I put moon hair pins to part my bangs. I always love doing that it makes me feel free, more then I already am.

“Yes I will be see you after school mom and have a good day at work today.” I said starting to walk to school.

I see my mom smiling and waving to me before she locks the house and heads to her car. I look where Kaida is and I run to her, even though it does not take long to catch up to her. We always leave for school early every morning, there is always a lot of things to help for the last few days of school.

“Last day of real school and then we are done school for good. I cannot believe we are in grade 12.” She said almost jumping for joy.

“I know but unlike you I take my last exams today and not next week.” I said smiling to her.

“Oh right because you are going to be helping your mom next week that is why you are doing the exams this week. You are so lucky with that, but you also graduate sixteen not eighteen.” She said smiling.

“Well I am also one of the few who gets just A in every classes. You could also do the exams at the same time as I did. The teachers said you also get just A too.” I said to her.

“I know but I am trying to beat your score this time. Also in two weeks you are turning seventeen.” She said her smile getting a lot bigger.

“I know I am so looking forward to it, I do not know what you have planned for it.” I said smiling.

We talk about how prom was so much fun last week, and how our dresses looked. Her dress had dragons on it, she chose to do the Japanese style of dress. She also hand made her dress and helped me make mine. My dress looked like I just came out of the sea. The colours were the sea colour but it had sleeves that went all the way done my arms. They were long and almost touching the ground and I love it.

When we just finished talking about grad we reached at the entrance of the school. I looked up and I have both mix of happy and sad feelings at the same time. I am really going to miss this school after today. We walk in and put our bags into our lockers and switch our outdoor shoes for the indoor ones.

Once that is done we walk to the gym and start putting up banners of our class to congratulate our grad. Next we start putting the balloons up everywhere and put some into the net to get polled later. After that we put the ribbons everywhere on the walls and the extra on some balloons.

By the time we are done that we see the other kids coming into the school. I look at the clock in the gym and it says it is 8:20 am. I see one of our teachers coming and I see a very big smile on her face.

“Wow you two, this looks amazing well done.” She said walking towards us.

“Thank you Mrs. Jane.” We both said.

“Now Aurora, ready to get those last exams over and done with?” She asked me.

“Yes I am Mrs. Jane, see you later Kaida.” I said starting to walk with Mrs. Jane.

We head through the gym doors and start heading upstairs to the classrooms. I start thinking what might be on the exams that I have left to do. I have two left to do and that is Math and English.

Most people have to study to get grades that I get, but my kind happens to be this smart anyway. We just do not show how smart we are to not be hunted down like dogs. It has happened before that is why we hide who we really are. We head into the classroom, and she gives my first exam and I sit in one of the desks and dig out my pencil.

Once I grab my pencil I see my test is math, great the one subject that I hate the most. Oh well time to get started, I start answering the first questions and it the ones that I love doing. But once I hit the thirteenth one I know this is one of those that I hate doing. When I was looking at the question, I remember my mom helping me with this one.

When I was learning it about a month ago, she saw that I was having trouble with it, because it was my homework that day. She told me about her day and mix the answer to the question in with what she did that day.

I finished the math exam after writing down my answer to the thirteenth question. I saved the thirteenth one for last. Hoping that they would give the answer in some other questions. But that’s ok because I was happy to be done it. I gave it one last look seeing if I missed something or got it wrong. Happy with all of my answers I got out of the desk, and walked up to where Mrs. Jane was sitting.

“All done with the already!” She said putting her book down and looking at the clock.

“Yes I am and happy with my answers, can I have the next one please?” I said handing her the math exam.

“Wow you are fast at doing the exams and here you go, your last one.” She said handing me English exam and start looking through my math one.

I walk back to my desk and start doing my English one I take one look and smile. If she thought I was fast on my math one, then she will see a very big surprise. English is the subject that I love the most, and the one I enjoyed the most. Mom was not able to help me with this one, because she had the worst trouble with it in school.

I look up at the clock before starting my last exam and see I have only been in here for half an hour. I was surprised and happy at the same time with how much time it took me to do the math one. I looked down at my English one and started to working on it. Once I was done with my English one I looked it over again to make sure I liked my answers to this one.

“Mrs. Jane I am done with the English exam.” I said walking to her desk.

“What already?!” She said putting down my math exam and looking at the clock.

“That only took you ten minutes to do, are you sure you are done?” She said looking shocked.

“Yes I am Mrs. Jane, I can sit back down and read one of those books at the back until you are done marking them.” I said smiling to her and handing her the English exam.

“Yes that would be lovely Aurora I will let you know once I am done.” She said smiling taking the English one.

I turn around and go to the back of the class and look at the books. This class room is the junior high English classroom. I see a lot of Shakespeare in this room and I grab two of them and I sit back down into the desk. I start reading and get very into the book while thinking about that dream I had.

I know my mom was happy about it but I have this strange feeling that something bad is coming. I hear the bell that means first class is done by the time I am done reading the first book. I put the book down and see that Mrs. Jane is still on the math exam.

I smile to myself and start reading the second book I grabbed from the back of the classroom. I hear the kids talking about the exams they have to do next week, my smile grows a lot more. Next week I get to help my mom with her job with the wolves in Alberta. I finished reading thee second book when I see Mrs. Jane done with finished marking my Math exam.

“Wow Aurora you had no wrong answers in this one and I heard this is the subject you had the most trouble with.” She said smiling to me.

“Wow I thought I would have a least have one or two wrong. Because some of them I had a lot of trouble with.” I said putting the two books I had back away and grabbing two more.

“Well now that the math one is done next is the English one the subject that I love the most and yours too.” She said smiling at me and giving me a wink.

I giggle and sit back down and start reading again. I know that today is my last day of school and I had so much fun here. But I know it is also time for me to move forward and wait till I turn seventeen. Where I will become an adult wolf and maybe finally see the pack for once. I finished both books by the time Mrs. Jane is done marking the English exam.

“This one you also got all of them right but I know you would, you were always the best in my class.” She said getting up out of her desk.

I get up as well and put the books back on the wall. I grab my bag and walk to Mrs. Jane with a smile on my face. I know my mom will be so happy that I got both exams done and also past them too.

“Now what am I going to do with you until this afternoon, before we have to go to the gym?” She said thinking and looking at me.

“Well I know in about a few minutes the grade eleven class is going to be making food for this afternoon. I could go there and help them with all of that. I know it will keep me very busy and they would love that too.” I said to her knowing that I can hear them saying it just outside of the classroom door.

“That would be lovely Aurora thank you. I do not know what I am going to do without you in fall.” She said smiling like I just took all the weight off of her.

“Hehe you will find a way and maybe there will be someone like me in fall, see you later Mrs. Jane.” I said walking out of the door.

“See you in the gym this afternoon Aurora.” She said closing the door.

I start heading down the stairs and back to my locker to put my stuff away for now. I grab my apron from my locker it says. “Warning make this cook mad and this cook will bite.” I giggle and put it on, it has a picture of a wolf o it showing its fangs.

I tie two ribbons into my wig to keep it out of the way for when I start cooking. I close my locker and start heading to the kitchen. Where all the giggling is coming from. I open the door and all eyes are on me when I enter the room.

“Hello Aurora, done your exams already?” Said Mr. Cookie.

“Hello Mr. Cookie yes I am done all of my exams. Mrs. Jane said I could help you guys until this afternoon.” I said closing the door with a smile.

“Good because we need the help. I am just about to split the class into the groups to start cooking. And with your help it is going to make it a lot easier for me to help the ones that need it.” He said smiling at me and turn to his class.

“Ok everyone you know which group you are in, go and look at your recipes and start planning who is doing what.” He said smiling at them.

I see everyone go into groups except one girl. She has tis purple hair that almost looks black. Top of her head is short hair, but the back is very long it goes down to her back of her mid legs. She has purple contacts in her eyes that could make you look away if you are scared.

“Well, well look who came to help. It is miss I am so perfect in everything.” She said smiling at me.

“Hello Kitty I heard you almost had to do grade eleven again, because you skipped so many classes.” I said looking at her.

She glared at me and turned around and walked back to her group. I was happy that I could stand my ground round her, because she was the top school bully. Most kids are scared of her and hide if they hear her coming.

“Aurora do you want to help us make a big cake.” Said the girl with blue hair in a ponytail with a green ribbon tied into it.

“Yes I would love to help you guys with making the cake.” I said walking to the group with a smile.

All of their smiles grew even wider and I hear some squeals from some of them. I walk to the group and look at the recipe and see what need to be done. I see it is a three tear cake and I smile and get ready to make it.

I have the worst part of knowing name of everyone in this school. There is almost two thousands kids here in this private school. You have to be very good in your grades to get into this school.

We all work hard into making the cake. I help my group when they have questions about the recipe. The cake is chocolate the bottom layer cherry filling in it. The second layer has strawberries in it. And the top one has chocolate filling in it.

We put three bowls out and make three different icings. All three of them with one of the school colours. There is brown for the top, sliver for the middle one and the bottom with gold.

“Yes we are done. Now what do we do?” Said one of the kids.

“Now we decorate the cake with the school thymes.” I said grabbing and making more icing.

They all smile at me and watch what I am doing. I make five little bowls and put a little icing into each of them. Then I put different colours into each of them. Then I take a paint brush that we use for cooking and paint designs onto the cake.

By the time I am finished doing all of it is lunch time. The kids did not want to help me put designs on the cake. They just loved watching me how I was doing it.

“Thank you so much for your help Aurora. And Wow that is a beautiful cake you have there.” Said Mr. Cookie shocked looking at the cake.

“Thank you Mr. Cookie everyone helped there part in with making this cake.” I said smiling to him.

I looked around and see everything made and I see almost everyone smiling. The one who is not smiling is Kitty. She is glaring at me with those purple eyes, but I hold my ground and just smile. Everyone else is thanking me for helping and I head back to the door. I wave to them and go through the door.

“Hey Aurora I see you were helping with the cooking? So that means you finished your exams.” Kaida said smiling and walking to me.

“Yes I finished the exams and both of them I got them no wrong answers.” I said closing the door and smiling to her.

“What?!!!” She said shocked with my answer.

“Come on lets go get our food right now I could eat a horse.” I said walking to my locker.

“Ok, ok but you are telling me how you do it.” She said walking to our lockers.

I open mine and fold my apron into my bag. Then I grab my food and close my locker and start walking to where we eat our lunch. Most of the students eat in the cafeteria. But Kaida and I eat at one of the windows at the second floor window cells.

We walk up the stairs and talking about how our morning went. We sit at our favorite window and start opening our lunch. I open my lunch and happy to see that it is wild meat in there. Kaida has a bento box that she packs her lunch in. She and I trade some of our food and start eating.

“That was good.” Kaida said closing her empty bento box.

“Yes it was.” I said smiling and closing my lunch box.

We hear the bell go off letting everyone know that lunch time is over. We head back to our lockers. I put my lunch box into my bag and zip it up smiling at my almost empty locker. I close my locker and head to the gym with the rest of the students. I walk in and see there is about thirty chairs on stage.

“Hello Aurora you will be heading to the stage with Kaida.” Said Mrs. Jane smiling at me.

“Thank you Mrs. Jane for all these years being my English teacher.” I said smiling to her.

“Oh you are about to make me cry Aurora. Get up there you silly.” She said teasing me.

I walk to the stage and climb the stairs and sit beside Kaida. She is smiling at me. Her smile is one of those smiles that you think it goes all the way to her ears and then some.

“How did you get ahead of me so fast? And I did not even notice that you were not beside me.” I said to her poking her.

“Ha, ha I have my secrets.” She said sticking out her tongue at me.

“Welcome everyone to this year’s graduating class.” Said Mrs. Jane with a smile on her face.

All of us cheer as loud as we can. Well most of us I see Kitty on the bleachers gearing at me. I look away from her and look at Mrs. Jane with a big smile.

“Now as some of you heard. The top of the grade 12 students were able to do the exams this week. Only one chose to do this week. And I would love if she came down from the stage and stand beside me.” Mrs. Jane said look at me and holding her hand out to me.

“Go Aurora don’t be shy now.” Kaida said giving me a little shove to the stairs.

I hear all of my class cheering as I go down the stairs. When I get closer to Mrs. Jane in the middle of the gym I hear the rest of the school cheer. Except Kitty which is still glaring at me and trying to make her friends glare at me too.

“What all of you do not know is she passed all of her exams with flying colours. Also she is our honor student for this year’s grade twelve class.” She said clapping to me.

I hear most of the school shocked at first. Then I hear one of the kids on the bleachers cheer and the rest join in. I see the rest of my class join me down onto the gym. Two of the guys from my class pick me up and put me on their shoulders.

I look down at all them seeing them smile and cheer. I smile and start cheering. I feel balloons fall on us and I start laughing with the rest of the class. I hit some of the balloons away from me and the rest of the class does the same thing. I kinds did not want this to end but all good things does end at some point.
