Chapter 2

Aurora

Kaida and I leave the school with two bags and a smile on our faces. I take one last look at the school and feel a sad smile on my face. Today was my last day to be in the school and I do not know when I will be able to see it again.

“Aurora the rest of the class is going to the café to celebrate our last day of school. Do you want to join them?” She said looking at me.

“That would be a lot of fun, and I am very hungry right now too.” I said looking at her.

“Really, we just had some cake and other food in the gym?!” She said looking at me weird.

“I know but we also danced and did a lot of games in the gym. Plus we were in the gym for two hours.” I said starting to walk to the café.

“Yes I know. But you did have the two hottest guys pick you up, and put you on their shoulders.” She said nudging me.

“You also know they are not my type of guys either. Yes they would be cute, but not for me. Also I do not like football guys. They are just show off.” I said trying to keep calm and not wanting to run away.

“Hey they are not my type either and you are so right too. They are just show offs. Be glad this will be your last day seeing them, before you leave for Alberta. When do you leave for Alberta again?” She said looking at me.

“We leave for Alberta the day after tomorrow. We are flying there to Calgary and then going to different zoos all that week. But the first zoo will be in Edmonton we will have to see. I cannot wait to see the wolves.” I said with an almost a skip in my steps.

“Aww, I wish I could go with you but I do have those exams to do. Also make sure you take lots of pictures please.” She said almost begging, but with a big smile on her face.

“Hey you could have had the exams done this week, and you would be able to come. Also in about four weeks you are going on a cruise ship. How did you get those tickets again for it?” I said looking at her.

“My mom won them in a draw from work, and has three of them but she cannot go because work is getting very busy right now. So she gave them to me, I thought I would go with you and maybe dad if he is free for it.” She said to me.

“Sorry can’t, my mom will be taking me to my grandmothers for the first time that week. I have not met her yet, and she lives in the north northwest part of Alberta. Almost at the border near the Northwest Territories. I think she lives in Chateh if I think right.” I said thinking about it.

“Right you did say that a few days ago, I am not sure who to take with me?” She said now trying to think of who to bring.

“Hey why not take the twins, they would love that. What are their names again?” I said to her with a smile.

“Natsuki is the girl, and Ethan is the boy. And they are turning thirteenth the week after from the trip. Also they would love that very much. Thank you so much Aurora, you are a life saver.” She said hugging me.

“I know I am. Come on we have to hurry if we want to be there on time.” I said hugging her.

She laughs and starts walking to the café arms linked. We start telling jokes to each other. Also the funny parts in school that we had. We step into the café and I can smell the fresh pasties coming out of the oven. They are the best in this city near the ocean. I see our class mates and join them at their table.

“Hey there lovely lady’s, care to join us for the last day of school. Especially you Aurora since I will not see you next week.” Said one of the guys.

“I would love that.” I said sitting down at the table with them.

Kaida sits beside me at the table. The table is only used for big groups of people. And you have to call ahead to get a reservation for it. There is a TV and games to ply for this big table. It is also a little out of the way for the rest of the tables at this café.

I pull out my cell phone and give mom a quick text. Letting her know that I am at the café with my class mates. She sends me a smile and a have fun and see you later text. I smile and put my cell phone away. I play some games with my class mates. I won some of them and lost to others.

There was one game that no matter what, I always won. It was a tracking game, you could shoes to be human or animal. I always chose the animal. The main part of the game was, do not be killed by the human. Find your cubs and flee to the other side of the river and into the forest.

If your cubs starve you lost, if they get hurt you lose and if you die you lose. The human wins if that happens. The guy’s takes turn who will be the human. For their weapons they have bows, knives and swards. I always chose to be a wolf out of all the animals I could choose from.

Each animal has a special ability that they can do in the game. For the wolf it is make it look like there is a lot of them. Deer is how quiet they are. Fox how sneaky they can go around where the human is. The jaguars is how they blend in. And the lions is how they can have other cats help you.

“Ok, how do you beat me in this game?” One of the guys say after losing the game again.

“Well you have to use there ability’s and watch where you are in the game. Also all the animals come with a trick in the beginning of the game.” I said putting down the controller.

“Ok that makes sense. I thought it is because you play this game all the time.” He said putting down his controller.

“Nope this is the first day playing this game. I just watch you guys playing for a while, before playing it.” I said smiling.

“Ok, how about if we play in teams with this game and see who wins.” He said challenging me.

“No thank you I am starting to get hungry right now. I think I will get some food and watch for a little while.” I said getting up and going to where I see and buy some food.

I walk to where all the baked food is and look at the menu board for the drinks. I always go for a milkshake for the drink. They have so many flavors, but I always go for the chocolate storm. It has chocolate and raspberries with white chocolate candy on top. It is so good (We also do not have problems with chocolate at all. Must be the human part in us.)

The treats is a different story all together. It is very hard to choose what I would like to have. I have had almost all of them except the newest one this month. This month’s treat is called The Chocolate Ice Storm. It has very rich coca with whipped cream, almost like an ice cream for the bottom. Frozen raspberries mixed with marble of white and dark chocolate for the filling. And a very rich milk chocolate frozen raspberries on top. With chocolate shavings and whipped cream.

“Umm Aurora can I, umm talk to you please.” Kitty said when I turned to see who was talking to me.

“Hello Kitty what do you want to talk about.” I said to her while thinking what I want.

“I want to apologize for being such a jerk to you at school. Also can I buy your food as an apology and hope to start a friendship.” She said with a nice smile and handout.

“Sure.” I said smiling and shaking her hand.

“Ok, so I know you like the Chocolate Storm for the drink. But what would you like to eat?” She said looking at the treats.

“I was thinking about having The Chocolate Ice Storm and seeing how it is like.” I said looking at it.

“Deal. I will bring it once it is ready. Good for you?” She said smiling nicely to me.

“Yes it is.” I said and started going back to the table.

I sit back at the table and watch my classmates play the game. I give Kaida a few tips with being the animal. That way she can win one game and not loss every time.

“Here you go Aurora and I am sorry again for being such a jerk.” Kitty said putting my food down in front of me.

“I accept your apology. Why don’t you sit down with us and have some fun.” I said smiling to her.

She smiles and sits with some of the guys playing the game. I smile to myself and start eating my Chocolate Ice Storm. I found out that I missed something when looking at it. There is Oreo crumbling for the bottom.

I eat more until I hit a very sour and not right tasting part in it. I think they had a raspberry that did not get enough water on it. Or they picked it too early. Other than that it was very good.

I took a nice big gulp of my Chocolate Storm and it was just great. So it must have been just that odd berry that they missed. They do get the berries fresh every day to make sure you get the best here. Plus I have helped them several summers when they needed the help.

“Hey Aurora you had a very weird face a little bit ago. How come?” Kaida asked me.

“Sorry I think one of the berries was a little sourer then I was expecting.” I said going to take another gulp of my drink.

“Oh, ouch. I always hate that when I buy raspberries at the store.” Kaida said after taking a gulp of her drink.

“I think after we finished our drinks we should get back home. I still have packing to do today, and help making supper.” I said looking at the time.

“Mmm, same about the supper. The packing I still have about four weeks before that happens.” She said after finishing her drink.

I look around at my classmates and seeing them have so much fun. I know after today they will be very busy with studying and doing the exams. Also enjoying the summer, before going away to do what they dream of. I finish my drink with a big smile and a warm heart.

“We got to go. I still have packing to do before I go to Alberta the day after tomorrow. I f I do not see you after I get back, I wish all of you a happy future.” I said smiling and feeling so happy.

“Aww, you have to go. Before you go I want to get a group picture for this happy memories we had today.” One of my classmates said grabbing out her camera.

I nod my head because I am about to cry. We ask one of the ladies that work at the café to take our picture. I am at the center of my classmates and Kaida right beside me. When the picture is done taken all of us girls start crying, and giving each other hugs. I look around to see Kitty but I do not see her. I think she must have went home.

Kaida and I grab our bags and waved to our classmates for the last time. Well for me until I come back from Alberta. Some of them will be there for my birthday but most won’t. We leave the café and almost burst into tears again. I am so going to miss school.

We start walking and talking about how much fun it was today. Kaida kept asking how I won on that game. Even with three others chose to be the humans. I told her to think like the animal and I also watch lot of animal documentaries of it. (If only she knew the truth then I would be having a very different talk about it.)

As we continue walking I notice that there is just us on this street. Ok that cannot be right. It is Friday so there has to be lots of people coming down right now. Then I start feeling that there is someone behind us.

Something does not feel right at all. I look out of my corner of my eye and see there is two people behind us a little ways. I am not sure how long they have been following us. Why did I not feel this sooner I should have.

“Kaida when I say run, we run into that street and do not stop until we get home. Something does not feel right about these men behind us.” I said in a low voice that only Kaida can hear me.

“I know, the back of my neck hair has been feeling like it is sticking straight up. You do know how to protect yourself if we need to. Right?” She said in the same tone, and looking out of her corner of her eye to them.

“Yes I do. I am not be as good as you, but I do know how.” I said giving her a smile.

She nods we grp our bags better so that we can get ready to run. I can feel myself wanting to change into my wolf form. But I stop myself because I do not want Kaida to see, and think I am a monster. I do not want to lose my best friend, because of who I am. And that is I am not human at all.

We give a nod to each other and start running. Kaida is able to keep up with me, because she is use to it with me in gym. We turn the corner and run a little faster. All the sudden I feel a sharp pain in the back of the neck, and I let a painful cry out. I fall down at the same time and I see Kaida turn her head to me.

“Aurora what happened, that looks like a dart in your neck.” She stops and helps me get onto my knees.

My head is starting to feel fuzzy, and I know what type of dart they used. I pulled it out and take a better look at it. I take a sharp gasp and see it is the type hey used in the zoos. How did they get it, because I know they keep it very locked up? Also I am not sure how much they gave me but I am now mad.

“We have to keep moving now. This is the type they use to put animal to asleep, I am not sure how long I can stay awake for.” I said trying to get up.

“Oh I do not think you are going anywhere little one.” I hear this very deep voice say.

I look up and see this very handsome man about early twenties looking at me. He has Kaida in his arms looking very terrified. I did not even sense that she was gone from my side, f**k this drugs is starting to affect me. He has nice golden brown hair and very nice green eyes looking at me. He is about a foot taller than me, and very well built too. But the one thing I cannot stop looking at, is the scars across his face.

“What do you want?” I said growling.

“You of course little cub.” He said smiling to me.

“Oh I do not think so.” I said getting up fast, and trying to punch that guy in the face.

I feel anther pain in the neck and fall down onto my knees again. I hear Kaida scream and trying to get out of his arms. I pull out this dart and toss it into the grass. I am having troubles seeing things now, but I can still move. I use my other senses I have, and I can hear someone coming up to me.

Once they are close to me, I toss them into the grass and get up and start defending myself. I hear two more running to me. I block there attacks and hit them where it hurts the most for them.

“Let her go now, or it is going to be very painful for you.” I said growling turning to face him, with my eyes still having troubles seeing right now.

“Ha ha-ha, oh if I knew you were going to be like this, I would use a lot more darts on you. Oh wait a minute I did.” He said as if I was right where he wanted me.

I was about to ask, when all the sudden I get another jab in my neck. Also there is a man stabbing me with a needle. How did I not sense him coming behind me? This time I know I am not going to be able to keep my eyes open. I hear Kaida screaming, trying to tell me to get up. I feel my body going into sleep mode and everything goes black.
