Chapter 4

Bethel's POV He simply went ahead and started teaching, as though he didn't remember what had happened the previous night. Throughout the lesson, I couldn't help but stare at him every now and then, watching his Adam's apple move and his lips come together every time he said, "Debit." After thirty minutes of teaching, he stopped and looked at me. He had caught me staring. I quickly looked down at my notes, pretending I was paying attention to what he had been saying. He smirked. Then I felt his fingers gently lift my chin. Softly, he turned my face toward him and asked, "What were you staring at?" "I..." I stammered. Then I realized... He was still holding my chin. "Get your hands off me, you pervert!" I snapped without thinking. "I wonder who's the pervert here," he replied, releasing my chin. I figured it was the perfect opportunity to bring up what had happened the previous night. "What happened last night?" I asked. He looked at me with an amused expression before answering, "You really don't remember? Hmm... why don't we recreate what happened? Maybe it'll jog your memory." The moment those words left his mouth, I stood up immediately. "Dream on." I watched as he slowly stood up as well. Why was he walking toward me? What was he planning? I didn't like where this was going. I instinctively took a step backward as he approached. Just as I was about to turn and leave, I felt a firm grip on my arms. Before I knew it, he pulled me toward him, and the sudden force made me collide with his chest. He moved both of my hands behind my back, holding them securely with one hand. I had never felt so small in my life. His other hand rested lightly on my waist as though it belonged there. My entire body grew warm, and my heart pounded wildly against my chest, threatening to burst out. I looked up, intending to yell at him. Instead... The moment my eyes met his hypnotic blue ones, every ounce of confidence I had vanished. "Why are you acting so tense?" he asked in a low voice. "You weren't like this yesterday." Because you're standing way too close to me. I desperately wanted to say it out loud, but somehow managed to keep those words to myself. "This is an... inappropriate... position for a tutor and his student to be in." Surprisingly, I managed to get the words out. Even more surprisingly, he didn't seem bothered by them. Instead, another smirk appeared on his face. "I'm not sure this is the closest we've ever been, don't you agree?" He teased. I immediately felt my cheeks burn. The heat spread across my face after hearing what he was clearly implying about the previous night. I knew remaining in that position wasn't good for my mental state. So, I did the only thing I could think of. I struggled. I wiggled and twisted, trying to free myself from his grip. I'd like to believe I escaped because of my efforts. But deep down, I knew he had let me go intentionally. There was no way I could have broken free from someone that strong by simply wiggling around. Not wanting to dwell on it any longer, I hurried back to my chair. I gestured for him to continue the lesson. A soft smile crossed his face. He returned to his seat, and we continued studying. I tried my best to understand everything he was teaching, but my thoughts were far too clouded. Even so, I pretended I understood every word.
