Chapter 16 Bethel's POV Monday morning came too fast, the way it always did after a weekend that had somehow managed to be exhausting and eventful in equal measure. I lay in bed a moment longer than I should have, replaying pieces of Saturday night — the club, Donald's warning, Allari's hand over mine in the limo, the way he'd said for you like it meant something he wasn't ready to explain yet. I shook the thought off and dragged myself up. School didn't wait for anyone, least of all me. I dressed quickly, grabbed my bag, and made my way down for breakfast, my mind already drifting toward the pile of assignments I'd been avoiding all weekend.
