Chapter 14

384 Words
*Flash back* I’m twelve, looking in the fridge for something to drink. “Gran, I’m so thirsty but nothing I drink helps”, I say frustratedly. “Lex, look at me” Gran says as she walks up behind me. I turn around and look at her and she takes a few steps back in shock. “What’s wrong, Gran, is there something on my face”, I say as I touch my face to feel if something is different. “Sit down child, I just need to give you a charm to help with your thirst” she says, glancing at me worriedly, she rushes to her book shelf and grabs a large book that is bound with leather and is very old looking. She flicks through the pages ”ah huh, here it is” she says as she grabs her cauldron and a few ingredients and hurriedly throws them in, mixing them and starts saying some words in Latin. Once she is done, she pulls a charm out of the cauldron and secures it to the string, then ties it to my wrist saying a final incantation. My thirst stops. “I’m not thirsty anymore” I said, relieved. “Good, anytime your thirst becomes too much you make another one of these bracelets, and it will help. This book contains all the spells I’ve made over the years and will help you with any problem you just have to ask” she says as she closes the book and runs her hand gently down the spike, like she was patting a dog. Pesent day - lexi pov That’s what I’ll do. I’ll ask the book. But first, we must get away from the controlling vampire. In my distraction, he took another step closer. Now is a good time as any. “Well, if you’re not going to leave, I will” I said as I threw the charm on the ground and stepped on it, as I saw the look of desperation on his face as he tried to run the extra distance to get to me. But before he gets close enough, I’m transported back to my apartment. Not smart going straight to my apartment, but I didn’t have time to check which one I was throwing.
