Chapter 9 Hunger

Lexi pov

Once home, I strengthen my wards and protection for my apartment. I started making extra charms to shut down my wolf, I added some extra smelling charms, and I even made a vampire one just in case. I noticed once I had completed all the charms, I noticed that the tingling where Nic had touched my skin was still there and began to show signs of black lines appearing on my skin that ran down my arm and onto my hand. I will need to investigate that later. Now I must get ready for work and open the library for the day. Some of the old books out the back might have answers.

I open the shop and get to my daily tasks, stacking shelves and helping people find the books they need. A smell hits my nose and I find myself extremely thirsty, so I tell Kate, the other part-time librarian, that I’m going to get something to eat, and head out to find lunch. The diner down the street has the best burgers so I order one, and eat it as quickly as possible to try and placate this hunger, but it isn’t quenched. I look out the window and see one of the Wolf twins walking up and down the sidewalk like they were looking for something, walking with him is another extremely attractive man, in a tailored suit with a frown on his face, when he stops and licks his lips. I duck under the table so only my eyes are looking over the table.

Breathing in another wave of intense hunger and thirst rushed over me. I look at him again and realise he is the reason I’m so thirsty, my vamp side is pushing through and I need to taste his blood. The man in a suit is still sniffing the air, looking around, trying to find the source. I decide I have to get out of here before they see me and I get another man trying to get me. I got up and rushed to the waiter, asking if there was another way to leave. She pointed through the kitchen. I rush through and out the back and drop some scent blockers at the back door, hoping if they do follow me it will confuse them.

I make my way back to the library to research these runes and other scent blockers or why, all of a sudden, I have multiple hot guys trying to find me.
