I sat up suddenly. When had I fallen asleep? It was all a blur after a while. Then I realized I wasn't blindfolded or tied down.
"Oliver?" I heard Gage's voice as he sat up next to me. I swallowed softly and hugged my arms to myself. I was trembling. Gage wrapped his arms around me. "You are safe now. I'm right here." I broke down into tears, and he let me bury my face into his chest. He rubbed my back gently and waited for me to get all the emotion out. I gasped and choked as my neck hurt with each sob. Finally, I felt my throat burn red-hot and I lost my voice. "Vanessa!" I heard Gage shout as my sobs went silent.
I heard a door open and Gage gently pulled me away from his chest. Vanessa gave me a soft smile, and she reached out for my neck. I flinched back instantly and she frowned. G
