EPISODE 24- RANK/ CLASS UPGRADE

We were called by the guild master in his office, where he relayed information that came from the guild's higher-ups. I wasn't surprised about this after remembering that I was the one who killed the Megasaurus.

“Hold on! D+ that's the rank that the guild is willing to give?” Asked Razor with a tone of disappointment. I don't know why he sounded disappointed with me being allowed to a D+ rank upgrade.

“Do you have any problems with this, Razor?” spoke the guild master as he leans forward to his table.

“Of course there is! How come this kid only gets promoted to D+ even he defeated an A rank beast. This is very unfair for the boy, after working hard like that!”

The guild master then turns toward my direction, he then asked, “It seems Razor disagrees with the promotion you have been granted. So now boy I want to know your thoughts about this.”

If I were to tell him that I agree with Razor, I would definitely be giving him a bad impression of how greedy I am. But if I would give him a humble answer, I would definitely lose pride and image as a strong adventurer. Then I should say this, I hope this does work.

“Well my thoughts, to tell you I'm kinda sad about the rank, but I am still glad that I would be promoted one rank higher than my current rank. Even though I am very saddened by the rank, I thoroughly respect the guild's higher-ups' decision. ”

The guild master went back to leaning on his chair, b after leaning his back comfortably he immediately spoke, “I see, well it seems you answered honestly. I actually want to tell you the reason for how the higher-ups came up with this decision. To tell you the truth, I was also dissatisfied with their decision, but I am only a guild master, so I have no power to object when it's decided.”

I was suddenly surprised by what he spoke, that I immediately asked with a surprised voice.“Wait you're also against the rank they have granted me to be upgraded? Why?”

“One-word young man, it's….”

“What is it, guild master, you're kinda making me worried.” spoke old man Razor.

“All about my Salary! ” Yelled the guild master!

Both Razor and me, “WHAT THE HELL!”

“Hahaha! Well, you see if I got adventurers that are higher than a C rank, the main office would send me an additional allowance that I can splurge. So that's why I wanted to oppose their decision.” said the guild master with a hint of goofiness

But his voice suddenly turned serious suddenly, “But the reason why they only gave you that rank was due to jealousy and questions being raised when you are promoted to a rank higher than D. ”

After hearing the guild master, I immediately thought about it for a few seconds. I then spoke to him, “Well having an F-rank adventure that just registered a few days ago, suddenly becoming a B or C rank adventurer would definitely get the attention of the others.”

“Correct, the guild wants to stop those things from happening, so they decided to give you a lower rank upgrade.”

“But that is so unfair! This kid literally defeated a calamity class beast which the kingdom's army hasn't able to for hundreds of years. This is bullshit, the kid can't get upgraded easily because of some jealous lazy bastards. ” Ranted old man Razor, which actually made me happy.

Though it's just D+ I'm still happy about getting promoted this early. But it's still it's sad to even think about all of that effort, I am still not rewarded an equivalent rank to my achievement. Wait didn't God told me that I made that mistake…

Wait! I have totally forgotten about that! How could I have forgotten about God's words? But he said to me that he will speak to me again once I completely recovered, although I am ok now, God still hasn't spoken to me. Strange did he forget his words, maybe he just has something else to do.

“I think that is all I have to say to you two, you may leave now. But please don't forget about the examination that I told you about, you two can inquire about it on Ms. Lora's office.”

“You still haven't replied to me guild master!” spoke Razor as he points his finger to the guild master.

I guess this would go on forever if I will not speak. “That's enough Razor, the master probably has better things to do than entertain us. If you are still worried about my class and rank upgrade, I'm already fine with that. For now, let's just go back to our INN's and take a rest.”

“Are you sure about that kiddo?”

“Yeah, I have no more problems with that, I'm also confidently sure that I can get promoted sooner if I was able to defeat such a beast. ”

Razor then let out a sigh after hearing me, he then looked at me directly and spoke, “I guess if you have no problem with it, I guess I'll have no problem with it too.”

After that, we said our farewells to the guild master and left his office. As we got back to the ground floor, Bella who was already drinking came toward me. Seeing her walk sloppily was the indication that she was already intoxicated by the booze.

“Hey… m-mwester...why…*hiccup*… dwon't yow whave a dwink with us?” spoke Bella as she moved toward me holding a wooden mug full of booze. Because of her intoxicated state, she suddenly slipped after losing her balance.

I immediately dashed toward her, I was shocked to see that I already reached her within a blink of an eye. She was about ten meters away from me, and the place was crowded, so getting to her this fast was something strange

“Sorry Bella, but I still need to go to an important place. ” I spoke to her as I help her stand up, but how many mugs of booze did this girl take to be this drunk?

I then slowly carried her back to their table with her other party members. David was already drunk as his face was already red, Karl was also drunk but seems to have a little control. Lucy and Marcia were drinking but from the look of their mugs, they haven't drunk too much booze.

I then put Bella to her seat, Lucy, on the other hand, stared at us two. Her face was emotionless but I can tell that she is jealous of Bella. I then spoke Marcia who was still ok, “Tell them when they are refreshed that I couldn't join them in the celebration.”

Marcia nodded and replied with a, “Ok!”

I then left the guild and went straight to my INN, but before going to the INN, I immediately thought of buying another skewered meat for the INN owner and her daughter. When I arrived at the stand selling the skewers, the owner treated me differently.

He was more willing to serve me now and was less scared. Not until I spoke, “Hello six skewers please!” The vendor suddenly had a confused and scared expression. “That v-voice…. Don't tell me…”

“Yep, I'm the big guy who ordered here a few days ago. I hope that you still remember even I have lost so much weight.”

The vendor pause for a moment after hearing me, I don't know if he was ok but he started laughing out of nowhere. So I asked politely, “Is something wrong, mister vendor?”

“Hahaha, to think that you wouldn't be this intimidating if you were this small. You were truly just an ordinary customer after all. So I'm very sorry for the rude behavior I have shown you during our first meeting.” He spoke as he lowered his head.

“You don't have to apologize for that, I'm actually used to that kind of reaction. So please raise your head mister vendor. ”

The vendor lifted his head after I told him too, but he spoke again, “I would also like to thank you for your amazing efforts in defeating the beast.”

“Huh?” I exclaimed after hearing him speak. The vendor then scratches his head in confusion, but he got the gist of my expression so he explained. “Well, word has got out that you good sir, have killed a beast who is said to be unkillable. The tales from other adventurers who saw your heroic deeds have spread out.”

“A brave heroic adventurer with his monkey sidekick defeated a towering beast that the kingdom's army hasn't been able to win against for hundreds of years. The brave adventurer wore a scratched black colored armor, the armor was oversize and did shine, it was like a poor man's armor...”

I kinda don't like where this story is getting, of course, matte color metals are not gonna shine. “Stop! I don't need to hear that story, it's very misleading.”

“Did I do something to offend you mister!?” asked worriedly by the stand vendor.

“No, you haven't offended me, but I'm here to buy your product and not listen to your story. Also, you have customers waiting behind me.” I spoke as I pointed at my back where a line of customers started to build up.

“Oh my! Sorry about that mister, then how many would you like to buy? ” asked the vendor.

“Give me six pieces of skewers,” I then gave him a gold coin. After receiving the skewers I immediately spoke, “Keep the change.” I then left and headed straight to the INN.

As I arrived at the INN carrying a bag of skewers, I suddenly noticed something strange happening inside the INN. This started to worry me so I immediately dashed forward the INN, but as I got close to the door I saw miss Sazar being thrown away.

This shocked me, I'm not being rude to a day but miss Sazar is very heavy. So seeing her get thrown like that would definitely surprise me. Maya who also came inside the INN run towards her mother who was put on the ground.

I then saw unfamiliar faces coming out of the INN, it was three people or demi-humans. As the two of them had a bear's head and the other had an ox, while the third that seemed to be their leader was a normal human.

“You b***h! If you can't pay the loan you owe our boss, then why not settle with your daughter. ” spoke the human as he slowly approached miss Sazar.

“Please stop this already, I have already promised your boss that I will pay the money I owed him, but I still haven't found a stable income. Also, the interest is too high for me to pay that quickly. ”

“Quit yapping b***h, when the deadline for the payment arrives you gotta pay. There are no excuses when it comes to our boss. This wouldn't happen if you just pay with your daughter, she's already worth your entire loan. ” spoke the human thug again.

“You three, hold it right there” I spoke confidently, I was kinda excited to try my new armor in combat. So these thugs might be a good test subject for my capabilities.

The three looked at me like I was some kind of bug. The human in the group then spoke to me, “And who the hell are you?”

I simply answered the human thug “I'm one of that lady's tenants.”

The thug then spoke, “Well if you are, you shouldn't get involved with this, or this guy will beat up your sorry thin ass.” The bear headed thug then moved forward and seemed to be trying to scare me.

“I can't believe that you are hurting a nice lady and her daughter. How low can you three really be?”

The human thug answered me, “Look we're just doing our jobs, it's not personal so if you don't want to get involved in this mess just turn away and go back to that old dumpster that you call an INN.”

“Don't you call that a dumpster that's mama and papa's hard work,” yelled Maya to the human thug.

“You're getting an annoying kid, you too thin man, I guess I have to take you down. Walsh go teach that man a lesson to never interfere. You Ling capture that annoying girl.”

“Sure Brother!” replied the bear head fellow and the ox head fellow. The bear headed fellow dashes towards my direction while the ox runs straight towards Maya.

“I'll teach you a lesson you puny thin ass man,” yelled the bear.

The bear then charged towards me at full speed, but too bad for him I was planning on testing my sword on him. *Swoosh!* “Now this is interesting, this body is lighter than what I was used to be,” I spoke these words as I slice the arms of the anthropomorphic bear. Which had an expression of disbelief as he saw his arms flying in the air.

“Aaaaahhhhh! It hurts! It hurts!” yelled the bear-man as he falls down to the ground and screams in agony. The two other thugs looked at me with fear after seeing their ally's arms get cut off easily.

“Go and help Walsh Ling,” ordered the human thug who was in shock.

The Ox whose name was Ling tried to process the situation before reacting. After Ling grabbed the bear-man the human thug looked at me with rage and yelled, “This is not over yet! ” They then run away in the opposite direction after that, leaving the bear-man's arm.

I then saw Sazar hugging her daughter who seems traumatized. I walk towards them and spoke, “Miss Sazar, I'm back, but would you care to explain who are those people?”
