Syrian could see the contradicting emotions fleeting across her face. He badly wanted to know about her origins, but he knew that he couldn’t push her buttons at this moment because they were in a delicate situation.
Althea was torn between her emotion and her logic, she knew that this was proving to be more difficult for her than she imagined because of the mate-bond. She had thought she could easily leave this place, but seeing Syrian in her room looking so vulnerable weakened her resolution. All she wanted to do was curl up beside him and let him take all her worries away, but then the face of her hopeful parents popped in her mind and she regained willpower.
She shook off her feelings even though it broke her heart and firmly said no. Syrian looked rather crestfallen. He was not ready to lose his mate so soon. He was stubborn, and he decided to go with her. So he will go with her by hook or by crook.
Syrian left without saying a word. He telepathically informed everyone that he was going on a mission with his mate. They all insisted to join him because they were brothers for life. They all prepared for the new journey.
Shortly afterward, Althea left her room after mentally preparing herself for what she is about to do. She met everyone and thanked them for rescuing her before she left, and they all smiled at her reassuringly. They were proud of her.
Althea expected Syrian to be a little dejected, but he was all smiling. A pang of disappointment hit her. She was at the door when she turned to look at him again, but he was still smiling.
Elijah, Aiden, Matheo, Joshua, Theodore, and Asher looked at Syrian quizzically. Aiden spoke for everyone else and asked him, “We thought we were going with her?”
“We are going with her but she doesn’t know that”
Elijah snorted and said, “So she rejected you?” They all glared at him and he muttered a little sorry. Elijah can be blunt sometimes, but he has a heart of gold. Asher excitedly said, “Then what are we waiting for?”
And they all left after her. They were tagging closely behind her but within a safe distance so that she doesn’t notice. They had been observing her for the past few days, neither of them having the courage to talk to her.
