Chapter 2: First day in the human world

Althea was about to cross the magical realm when she felt something wet on her cheeks which made her stop. She didn’t even realize when she started to cry. She already missed her family, she was always a sheltered child growing up, her parents protected her from the evil truth of the society while her brothers made sure that she wasn’t lagging behind. She yearned them even if they were at times annoying

The decisions that she made for the troupe was the hardest one of her life. She was afraid for her life, fearful of failure. She was scared because she knew that if she wasn’t able to bring her lover to the world of magic, then she won’t be able to save her family. She didn’t even know who her mate was, ‘was he human? Or some other type of creature that we don’t know about?’

She stood in front of the border, eyes full of tears, mind full of uncertainty and a pounding heart. One step will change her whole life, either making it more difficult or more successful. Either way, she will have to face many challenges ahead. Although she never backed down from a challenge, Althea was petrified. 

She mustered up all her courage and took the big leap. As soon as Althea stepped into the human world she started to heave. She was not being able to breathe, the polluted air made her lung hurt. She was habituated with pure air in the magical world. She was stupefied at the dirtiness of the air. The place where the vortex was supposed to open had to be a forest but all she can see is concrete buildings. 

She kept flapping her little wings around trying to find a way out of this dangerous situation but the loud honking of the car disoriented her mind. She was a bit dizzy. She flapped her wings more vigorously as she hoped that maybe she would find a quiet spot. 

She was desperately trying to get away from this suffocating air when out of the blue a window opened and hit her. She could feel the lights leaving her eyes as she fell in a deep slumber, her last thought was ‘I’m a failure…’

Althea woke up feeling confused, she was in an aqua blue room. The air smelt of peace and calmness instead of the chaos she just escaped. The first thought that crossed her mind was that she was dead and she was going through the moon goddess place to heaven. Then she realized that she was still in the human world when she felt the presence of a human in that place.

The scent of the human girl smelled of gentleness, kindness and dog fur. ‘What a strange combination of the odor?’ she mused. In her clan everyone had a specific smell, such as her dad Ageus smelt like water while her mom Hestia smelt like burning sandalwood

.The human girl was talking to little bird Althea, she wanted to answer but that will startle the human. The human was very kind to her as she treated her wound and even fed her and gave her water. The human girl came as a blessing for her, as a glimmer of hope. She was about to abort the mission when this human girl rescued her and her entire clan. Althea thought that if all human beings were like this human girl then this world wouldn’t be so chaotic. Added to that. She hoped that her mate even if he is human to be like this girl who smelt like dog fur.
